Q) What are the recent projects that you are working on?

A) I am working as a writer and director on a movie which will play in the US.

Q) What is new this final season of “Homeland” and with Haqqani?

A) A lot has changed in US foreign policy and a lot has changed in “Homeland.” As we love and know the show, it plays close to current political events. Besides that, a lot has changed for Haqqani. The past four years have changed him a lot.

Q) What continues to challenge you about portraying this role?

A) Haqqani’s story didn’t end in the fourth season. I have often wondered how his story goes on. Happily, the showrunners did that too. We all got the chance to tell this fascinating story. He is a villain character trapped in conflict with family, politics, religion, war and tradition. This is a role that many actors dream of. Where is the motivation coming to do such evil things…That’s why we’re so obsessed in watching this show’s right to see people in “uncomfortable” impossible situations. It says also a lot about us, about our position as a voyeur.

Q) Going into this season, were you hoping to share more (some) scenes with anyone in particular?

A) I would have loved to act with all the actors. We have such great actors this season again. But every figure has its own path. I’d love to have also scenes with Claire [Danes], Maury [Sterling] and Costa [Ronin]…

Q) What have been some of your favorite moments from filming “Homeland” over the years?

A) There was a moment when I saw Mandy Patinkin repeating a small scene over and over again and it became clear to me that no matter how experienced you are, who doesn’t go where it hurts will not arrive where it feels good.

I consider myself very lucky to be part of a show where everyone involved is so extraordinarily coup. There is always a nerve, not at “Homeland.” I adore the quality and the working atmosphere of this team.

Q) How do you shake off a long day of filming?

A) When I am taking off the make-up and costume, my private time starts with good food and work out and reading a lot…

Q) What have you personally taken away from your time working on “Homeland?”

A) How important it is that people believe in you and give you a chance. The creatives from Homeland changed my life twice… In giving me a chance, and believing in my skills. I will never forget that.

Q) Were there certain must-have items from the show that you took home as mementos?

A) I like to collect moments in life, not items. I don’t have much—live with the minimum. I have an amazing friendship with Mandy and Maury. I adore Claire, Lesli [Linka Glatter], Alex [Graves], Howard [Gordon]… I met so many great people and I am very grateful for that. Thank you guys a lot…

Q) What do you think it is about “Homeland” that has made it so iconic?

A) Whenever talents come together to do something with passion and love it is also successful.

We have a great team of actors, writers, directors, casting directors and crew. It’s the spirit of the teamwork that reflects to the screen which makes this show so unique…

Q) What last message do you hope viewers take away from watching the show over the years?

A) Geography is destiny. Everything we consume is filtered. Enjoy entertainment but don’t believe the hype. If you want to have an own opinion about something then research and read about it.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and the work you do?

A) Do not repeat other people’s opinion. Don’t say something you don’t know exactly. Don’t post anything whose source you don’t know. Don’t judge without putting yourself in the other’s shoes. Love wins over ignorance and intolerance. Thank you for supporting me.
