Paul Greene – Wicked Wicked Games

Q.  What are some of the recent projects that you’ve been working on?

A.  Well, this show, “Wicked Wicked Games,” just wrapped a week and a half ago.  It was full time and at the very beginning of it I did the show “Shark,” with James Woods.  I worked on that show for a couple of weeks.  Just before that I did “Freddie,” before it got pulled.  I was on that a bit but this Wicked Games took pretty much the last four months solid.

Q.  What can you tell us about the premise for “Wicked Wicked Games” and about your character?

A.  My character is Benjamin Gray and I am Tatum O’Neals lawyer and her love interest.  I get pegged into many different situations that I would rather not get dragged into but I get really tangled up with Tatum O’Neal’s character, who is Blythe Hunter, on the show.  I start out quite simple and moralistic and I end up a little bit darker at the end.  I interact with some of the other actors but most of my scenes are with Tatum.  I have the odd scenes with Jack Krizmanich and Kate French, but everything was mostly with Tatum.

Q.  How was it getting to work opposite legendary actress Tatum O’Neal?

A.  It was very interesting, it was very cool.  She is my first on-screen kiss ever, which is pretty cool.  It was very, very cool working with her, she brought so much of her own energy to it, she became this character.  It was tough for her to do, the amount of dialogue that she had and scenes per day.  No human being should be able to survive that and she did. Props to her for that, it was really good though.

Q.  What made you want to be a part of the show?

A.  Well, I moved to LA a couple of years ago and the amount of work that it was, I was able to work forty episodes.  To get that much work in three and a half to four months, I knew would be a really great opportunity.  I knew it was going to be really hard and I drove back and forth to San Diego a lot of days, every couple of days I was driving.  But, I knew that the amount of work it was and how much we had to memorize and work on would be excellent for my growth as an actor.  Of course knowing that Tatum O’Neal was a huge draw and Joan Severance who was great too.  I made some friends too, Spencer Garrett is one of the young guys on it.  Definitely the biggest thing to work on it was Tatum and it was going to be so much exposure; it’s on every night.

Q.  So, it’s one of the soap opera shows like “Desire” and “Fashion House” that My Network TV is showcasing?

A.  Yes, this is on that network starting December 6th at 8 p.m.  This is called “Wicked Wicked Games” but it’s similar to those, it wraps in thirteen weeks and then it is done.  It has a beginning, middle and end and it’s not like some TV shows that just keep going for the ratings.  What’s interesting with this network is that they don’t have a plan B.  They are committing to these shows, so to be a part of a show that a network was really behind was very interesting to me.

Q.  Do you have a really memorable moment from working on the show?

A.  There was a really cool moment where we were walking under this horse carriage and it was kind of our first kiss of the show.  It was really nice and the sun was setting.  That was one really memorable moment.  Then, watching Clive Robertson and Tatum fight.  There was a scene where he chokes her over a desk and it looked so realistic.  There was a lot of that, I would say the fights were probably the most memorable moments.  You watch Joan and Tatum literally going at it, slapping each other, pulling hair and fighting.  It was just crazy!

Q.  Why should viewers take the time to check out the show?

A.  A lot of the things we just talked about, the cat fights are really cool.  The story is really twisted, it’s like a woman scorned and she’s trying to get back at her husband.  It’s super drama, super heightened drama, and it’s kind of a guilty pleasure.  It’s one of the shows people will watch and a week or two into it will say, “Wow, I’m really caught up in this show.”  It’s like “Entourage,” where you’re going to really want to watch, it’s on every night and there is a recap on Saturdays.

Q.  What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

A.  That’s a great question, I love music, I buy so much music.  I am always listening to new bands and I’m on Myspace finding new artists and then going to Amoeba, a great record store.  Going there and finding music and I also fly, I’m a pilot.  So, when I can I will fly around and I used to use it for work and fly myself to jobs.  It got a little crazy after 9/11.  I have my motorcycle license and I play piano and guitar.  When I’m at home I’ll write music, listen to band and learn some new songs.  The biggest thing I do in my spare time is play with my son Oliver.

Q.  Do you have a latest obsession? Are you into any particular music group, sport, activity or book?

A.  Definitely, there is a band called Aberdeen City from Canada.  Damien Rice is pretty good, I really like Muse, there is a band called The Whitest Boy Alive, the beats on it is like Indie/Disco.  It’s really interesting music and Amos Lee I listen to a lot.  Tokyo Police Club, they are so great, that’s enough.  I could give you thirty but that’s probably enough!
