Q) What are the recent projects that you are working on?

A) I recently filmed a new teen movie called The Lies I Tell Myself. I got to work with my friends Tati McQuay, Emily Skinner, Nia Sioux, Matthew Taylor and Greg Rogstad. It was such a fun experience and I am really looking forward to seeing the final product. I also just released my new single “I Won’t Hold On.” This song is special to me because I got to executive produce my music video for it. I’m stoked with how it turned out!

Q) Please tell us the premise for the series “Malibu Rescue.”

A) The series follows the flounders on their adventures after they have become official junior rescue. From Sea Jet Patrol to my character Tyler birthing his own mother’s baby, the eight episodes are jam-packed with intense and hilarious storylines. Their biggest struggle is finding acceptance within the Malibu community.

Q) What made you want to be a part of the show?

A) When I first received the audition for “Malibu Rescue,” I immediately thought it was such a great idea! I thought to myself, “If I was a kid, I’d totally binge a show like this every night.” Then, when I saw this “Malibu Rescue” was a Netflix original, I knew I had to be a part of it because Netflix makes such high-quality content and have the resources to really push a show.

Q) How was your character Tyler originally described to you?

A) Tyler was originally described to me as a good hearted, rebellious smart-alec from the valley who isn’t afraid to take things into his own hands when he believes justice is absent. He is intelligent and kind, but he sometimes let’s his pride get the best of him. He is confident and a natural leader.

Q) What did you have to do to prepare to be a junior lifeguard in training?

A) CPR Training and a lot of iron pumping. [wink]

Q) Were you familiar with any of your costars before working with them on the show?

A) Yes! Breanna Yde and I worked together for three years on a Nickelodeon’s “School of Rock.” When I saw her at the final audition, I was so excited for the possibility of getting to work with her again. Low and behold we did and it was such a blast! She is such a talented a funny girl. Love her to death!

Q) Often times settings take on the role of a character. How does the setting of the show lend itself to the series?

A) The setting of the show is extremely important to a show, especially in “Malibu Rescue.” In “Malibu Rescue,” the flounders find themselves on the gorgeous beaches of Malibu, California. Without the beach we wouldn’t have a show.

Q) What do you think about this “Malibu Rescue” that will make it a fast fan favorite?

A) My favorite part about this show is how unique it is compared to any other family show out there. Each story line is jam-packed with insane stunts and high-quality comedy that keeps the audience engaged all the way through. “Malibu Rescue” is definitely a show for all audiences of any age.

Q) You are a part of social media. Are you looking forward to the fan feedback you’ll receive to the show?

A) Yes, I absolutely love seeing fan’s comments about the show! I recently did a post asking people to comment the wave emoji if they want to season two and it was surprising to see the huge response and positive feedback from “Malibu Rescue” fans!

Q) We loved you on “School of Rock.” What did you personally take away from being a part of this show?

A) “School of Rock” was my first show ever. It set the foundation for my acting career and taught me so much about how the film industry works. “School of Rock” was such a blessing in my life and it will always have a special place in my heart.

Q) What advice would you give to up and coming actors and actresses?

A) My advice is to get into acting classes! Acting is a lot of hard work and requires constant practice to be successful.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and the work you do?

A) I would love to say thank you so much for all of your support. I love all of my fans dearly and am where I am today because of them. I will always put them first and ensure that all the work I do will leave a positive influence.
