Lilith (Anna Hopkins) attempts to revive her son, Jonathan Morgenstern (Will Tudor) and tells him that he will soon return her embrace. Meanwhile, Clary Fairchild (Katherine McNamara) is given an angelic rune in a ceremony honoring her defeat of Valentine Morgenstern. Imogen Herondale (Mimi Kuzyk) tells her that she is no longer a shadowhunter in training and celebrates her accomplishments.

At the after party, Isabelle Lightwood (Emeraude Toubia) embraces Clary and Alec Lightwood (Matthew Daddario) asks her how she feels. Clary admits that the new rune hurts and Isabelle calls her a hero. Once Isabelle leaves, Alec believes there’s more to the story, but Clary insists she told him everything. He insists that he felt Jace Herondale (Dominic Sherwood) die. Clary lies that he didn’t die, but Alex explains that he felt his parabatai rune disappear. She lies that she doesn’t know why, and Alec says that Jace being alive is all that matters.

Jace stands over his parents’ graves as Clary walks over to him. She asks him if he’s okay, and Jace comments that this is the closest he’s ever gotten to them. Clary tells Jace that they need to tell Alec the truth, but he refuses and insists that Alec would have no choice but to report them to the clave. Clary declares that she would make the same choice if she had to do it over again, but Jace insists that nobody can know.

At the Jade Wolf, Maia Roberts (Alisha Wainwright) warns Luke Garroway (Isaiah Mustafa) that Ollie (Alexandra Ordolis) discovering the truth will end badly. Luke goes into the restaurant and talks to Ollie, who demands answers. He tells her that he can’t give her any, but she shows him scratches on her arm and tells her she was attacked years ago. She describes her attack and explains that she eventually came to the conclusion a werewolf attacked her. Luke tries to play dumb, but Ollie tells him to stop lying and not to wipe her memory again. She tells him that she has videos, but Luke continues to make excuses and implies that she’s crazy.

Lilith asks a nurse at the hospital, Tim (Randal Edwards) if she can hold one of the newborn babies, and he asks if she’s the baby’s mother. She replies that she’s barren and rants about ex-husband cursing her. Tim offers to walk her out, and she calls him kind. On his way home, Tim is tackled to the ground by a demon, which breathes a red gas into his mouth that causes him to convulse on the ground.

Alec passes by Stella (Natalie Moore) as he visits Magnus Bane (Harry Shum Jr.). Magnus explains that she’s an old client of his, and Alec comments that it’s been a while since he’s had clients. He explains that he can see whomever he wants now that he’s been dismissed as the High Warlock. Alec apologizes, but Magnus claims he’s elated that he isn’t responsible for all of the Brooklyn warlocks anymore.

Alec tells him he was offered a position on the clave’s council, but admits he hasn’t told anyone yet because it would mean moving to Idris. Magnus comments that he thought it was his dream, but Alec replies that he always dreamed of meeting someone like him. He tells him that he wouldn’t be able to visit since warlocks aren’t allowed in Idris, and Magnus assures him that he’s not going anywhere no matter what he decides.

Isabelle leads Clary to the weapons room, and tells her that it’s her duty as the new weapons master to help her pick a weapon. She pulls out a shelf of potential weapons, and Clary admires them as she makes her decision. She picks up two daggers, and Isabelle comments that the dual blades fit her fighting style. Isabelle asks Clary what it was like to be face to face with Raziel. Clary admits that she didn’t really think about it, and Isabelle asks if she thought about making her own wish. Clary lies that she thought about it, but wasn’t able to.

Clary finds Jace lying awake and they admit that they couldn’t sleep. She joins him, and admits that they can’t believe they’re here after everything. They kiss and Clary straddles him. Jonathan enters the room and they jump at the sound of his voice, and orders Jace to kill Clary. He picks up the dagger on the side of the bed and Jace attempts to fight him. Clary is stabbed in the struggle, and Jace wakes up from his nightmare. Jonathan laughs at his bedside and Jace wakes up from the second nightmare. A possessed Tim slits his wife’s throat as she arrives home before throwing the knife down and leaving her on the sidewalk.

The Seelie Queen (Lola Flanery) forces Simon Lewis (Alberto Rosende) to perform for Meliorn (Jade Hassoune) and the other seelies. The seelies clap for him and the queen mentions that they haven’t been this entertained since David Bowie. Simon rejects their hospitality, and asks the seelie queen why he’s there. She tells him that there are other reasons she invited him, and he reminds her that she threatened his friends if he didn’t come.

Meliorn tells her the spear is ready, and Simon demands to know what’s going on. The queen tells him his powers don’t work here and orders her guards to take him away. They put him against a tree that wraps him up in vines and the queen assures him the pain will be over soon. Meliorn brands a symbol into Simon’s forehead that disappears quickly. The queen tells him that anyone else would be dead from the mark.

Ollie approaches Luke at the crime scene, and Luke demands to know what she’s doing there. She insists she’s not crazy, and Luke notices signs of a demon attack as he examines the body. Luke lies that he doesn’t see anything, but Ollie sees through his lie. He continues to insist that there’s no such thing as werewolves. Meanwhile, Clary and Jace train together and playfully banter. Jace accidentally cuts Clary and flashes back to his nightmare. He apologizes, but Clary insists it’s no big deal as she activates her healing rune. Jace pulls away and Luke asks to speak to Clary.

Luke informs the shadowhunters about the murder, and shows them the evidence of demon possession. He shows them Tim’s hospital ID and Magnus decides to talk to Magnus’ friend Catarina (Sophia Walker). Lilith welcomes Tim to the church as he walks in and slashes his throat. She has him pour his blood in a patterned stone and declares that their time will come.

At the hospital, Isabelle declares that she needs candy, explaining that she’s replaced her yin fen cravings with sugar. Jace warns her that candy will kill her, and Alec accuses him of being brought back to life. Jace insists that he’s not lying, and Isabelle breaks up their argument.  Catarina tells them Tim was a good man, and insists that he was fine when he left the hospital. She asks Alec how Magnus is doing, and he replies that he’s doing great. Catarina says that Magnus is taking is demotion badly, and Alec is surprised.

Magnus rants to Raphael Santiago (David Castro) about his demotion, and Raphael admits he hates seeing him like this. Magnus tells Raphael not to worry about him, and asks what he can do for him. Raphael asks for vampire tranquilizer, explaining that he’s having trouble with one of the newest vampires. Magnus suggests that the vampire needs to face his fears and offers his consultation services. Raphael refuses and Magnus grabs a vial. He holds it out of Raphael’s reach, and asks what he isn’t telling him. Raphael confesses that the tranquilizer is for him, and that his sister is dying. Magnus consoles him and hands him the vial.

Isabelle’s candy gets stuck in the vending machine and she kicks it in frustration. Charlie (Brooks Darnell) stops her, and Isabelle explains that she gets angry when she’s hungry. He tells her that she needs to outsmart the machine and buys a candy above hers, which pushes them both down. Isabelle insists she could have gotten it herself, and he introduces himself. He offers her his candy, but Isabelle insists she needs to go. Charlie asks for her name and she gives it before walking away.

Luke congratulates Clary for her new rune, and she shows him her new weapons. He recognizes one of the daggers as Valentine’s, and Clary admits she had no idea. Luke tells her that she doesn’t choose the blades, but the blades choose her. He identifies the second weapon as her mother’s, and tells her that both of them are a part of her. Luke tells her that her mother would be proud of her, and she tells Luke that she has something to tell him.

Luke’s phone rings, and Clary tells him it can wait. He answers the phone and Ollie tells him she’s spotted Tim in Brooklyn. Luke tells her to drive away, but she gets out of the car as Tim approaches an Elderly Man (Brian Kaulback). She orders Tim to get on the ground and Tim runs superhumanly fast into a nearby building. Ollie follows Tim and approaches him as he stands in the middle of a market. She calls out his name, but he doesn’t move.

Ollie calls out to him again and he turns around. She attempts to shoot him as he advances on her, but the bullets don’t affect him. Before he can attack her, a werewolf lunges at him and knocks him to the ground. Tim holds up the wolf by the neck and throws him and Ollie aside. Tim advances on Ollie but Clary stabs him with her dagger. He contorts his body backwards and turns his head around as he catches her other dagger and tosses it.

Clary activates her rune, but misses Tim as he transforms into a bug creature and flies away. She searches for it and attempts to blast it again with her rune. Clary yells at it to come get her and blasts it with her rune as she passes under it. Lilith screams as Luke assures Clary that Ollie will be okay. He compliments her work, and declares that her daggers aren’t her signature weapons.

Simon demands to know what the seelie queen did to him, and tells her that he should be allowed to go home since he did everything she asked. He promises to return periodically to perform for her, and she tells him he’s free to go before warning him that darkness will follow even when he walks in the daylight. Luke tells Ollie that she’s going to be okay, and she asks if he was the wolf. He admits that everything she saw was real and apologizes for lying to her. Simon reunites with Maia, who asks where he’s been. He attempts to lie, but she threatens to kill him if he doesn’t tell the truth. Simon explains his deal with the seelie queen, and admits that he doesn’t know that she wanted with him. He tells her the only reason he did it was to protect her from danger and she calls him a brave idiot.

Alec confronts Magnus about his devastation over his demotion. Alec tells him that he doesn’t have to hide how he feels around him, and Magnus comments that their communication is still a work in progress. He asks him if he’s accepted the council position, and he admits that he needs to provide an answer by tomorrow. Magnus admits he doesn’t want Alec to move to Idris, and Alec asks why he didn’t tell him before. He replies that it was his decision, but Alec tells him that he wouldn’t want to go without him. Alec kisses him and assures him he’s not going anywhere.

Raphael gives the tranquilizer to a woman as she attempts to wake up, and Clary joins Jace in bed. Jace touches her, confessing that he wants to make sure she’s real. As they make out, Jace hears Jonathan ordering him to kill Clary. He insists that it’s nothing and tells Clary that he just wants to hold her. As they lay together, the demon bows in front of Lilith. She compliments his work, assuring that they have thirty-three people left.
