Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) My sound is the vibration of reggae/dancehall with a happy and vibrant sound, including a touch of reality feel.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) My music influences are reggae artist masicka, Shaggy, and alkaline.

In hip-hop it is toosii and Eminem.

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “Learnt.” How did you come to connect with Rhyme Well for a feature on the track?

A) Rhyme and I were always bouncing around ideas until once Rhyme Well sent me the idea of the track. Immediately, I fell in love with the idea. As I was going through a life changing moment with so-call producer who chose to rip my camp off behind my back. And at the time this song learnt was the perfect way of expressing how I really felt. So I told Rhyme Well, “We should sing this together” as he had been through similar adversities. And the rest was magic.

Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) I thought this song (“LEARNT”) would be just from our experiences, but surprisingly everyone who heard this song can pick a line or paragraph out of this song that relates to an experience in their life. So, that’s the reason why they connect with it so easily.

Q) How does the video for the track play into the message behind it?

A) The video will be very simple but catchy and sentimental when it is finished shooting, as we don’t want to throw off the fans from the message of the song.

Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) My song writing process depends on the mood. Sometimes it’s without instrumentals and most times it’s with instrumentals. I love writing to instrumentals because most of the time the instrumental is already speaking the song.

Q) How much of hand do you have in the production of your music?

A) I am very hands on in my production because of the passion that I have for the music and not just the hype.

Q) Will there be a full album or EP coming in the near future?

A) Yes, I’m in the middle of doing two EPs.

One of the EPs is with Vigilanti Records and Dietmonkey Ent. The second EP is from my label Cornatrendz Music, which is set to release on September 30, 2023. It consists of 6-7 songs.

Q) Where are some of your favorite places to perform and what makes those locations so significant to you?

A) Of course my city Edmonton, Montreal and Calgary.

These cities are where I have a strong and still growing fanbase as my statistics have proven, especially Calgary and Edmonton.

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) Hands down Shaggy and alkaline.

Q) You started your own label GLZ Records. What advice would you give to upcoming music artists?

A) I started GLZ Records which is now Cornatrendz music.

My advice to young artists is you already have the talent so try to build a team for yourselves and organize the administrative aspect of your branding and marketing campaign. Don’t just wait for someone else’s talent to shine off of. Go out and build a fanbase for yourself.

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) We are in the era of social media, and everyone is connected to the internet in some way or the other. So, building a strong presence does keep your fans and new fans engage with your work.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) I couldn’t do this with you all. The support is what gives SKYSTAR that extra drive to keep pleasing all my fans and supporters.

Continue to support Skystar music and I will continue to deliver good music and entertainment.
