Q) How would you best describe your sound?

A) I would describe our sound as energetic and youthful.

Q) Who are your Top 3 musical influences?

A) Arctic Monkeys would have to be up there from my younger years. At the moment I’m loving Gang of Youths. Then, Joy Division and The Cure had a big part to play in our debut album.

Q) You just released your self-titled debut album last month. Since its release, what has been the reception from fans and listeners to the music?

A) It’s been amazing to see people singing the songs back at gigs, particularly the ones which are a little slower and more intimate. They’ve only been out a number of weeks so to see them being well received by fans is special.

Q) What are some themes you explore on this new album?

A) Nostalgia and innocence are things I explored when writing this album. It was preordained, but it just came out that way. I guess songs are a way for me to tap into my past experiences and shine a light on them.

Q) I absolutely love the song “Give It Up to Love!” Which song(s) were your favorite to write and record for the album?

A) “Give It Up to Love” was a great one to record. “What I Said” had a really organic feel to it and I can hear that in the recording now. “I Need Ya” was really fun to do as well as we introduced a drum machine.

Q) Which song is your favorite to perform at live shows?

A) “How Long?” really takes on a life of its own live, which I love.

Q) Aside from your own performance, which other artists or events did you enjoy seeing at SXSW?

A) We didn’t get to see too much to be honest as it was the end of our trip. I enjoyed the Zombies. I know the band went to Been Stellar who they said were great.

Q) What do you hope fans and listeners will take away from listening to your music?

A) For me, writing for myself is why I do this. The fact that people listen is a bonus, so I don’t like to impose meaning upon them. Take from it what you will.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who are fans and supporters of you and the music you make?

A) Thank you for sharing the last couple of months with us. I hope this is only the beginning.
