It’s Mom week on this episode of Splitting Up Together and Lena (Jenna Fischer) has a lot going on in her mind. Of course, this is exacerbated by the fact that Vlad (Costa Ronin) and his crew are going to finish work on the house one week early. Clearly, Lena is not ready for the house to be sold, and quickly looks for something else that can be worked on.

She glances over at the garage and asks Vlad to focus his efforts on redoing the garage and take all the time in the world doing so. Oh, and she can’t exactly pay him up front so he’s going to have to settle for small installments. We don’t know about anyone else, but we are definitely starting to ship these two.

Now that she’s gone ahead and made this decision unilaterally, Lena has to convince Martin (Oliver Hudson) to get on board. She knows the best way to his heart is through her famous breakfast buns. While he chomps down on them, she brings up the remodeling. Surprisingly, he’s on board and thinks it can only increase the value for when they sell the house. But the work can’t start just yet because he’s got a big date coming up. This sets something off in Lena who starts acting weird about the whole thing and begins to question how he knows this woman to begin with.

Splitting Up Together is taking quite the hilarious approach with the Arthur (Bobby Lee), Camille (Lindsay Price), and Gun-Woo (Lance Lim). Camille has grown affectionate towards him as if he was their own child and is dedicated to shaping him up. While Gun-Woo is taking a nap, Camille leaves him cheese sticks, money and a Post-It note as Arthur stands by confused as to what she’s doing.

While out on their walk, Lena tells Camille and Maya (Diane Farr) about Martin’s date. She’s not very happy about it, but is trying to act nonchalant like it’s no big deal. Of course, the girls can see right through it all, but who is brave enough to confront Lena over this? Lena quickly diverts the topic to Camille and Gun-Woo and how he is being treated like a child. It turns out that Camille knows nothing about Gun-Woo and starts contemplating home school to help kickstart his education.

Since Martin has his date Lena has to tell Vlad to hold off on the garage for the night, but she then starts to talk about Martin’s date and does not realize that Vlad is on the phone with a client. It seems the client is extremely difficult to deal with and for some reason Lena understands just how to handle him. Vlad wants her to join him on this job because he thinks she can be of assistance and as she glances Martin in the garage, she agrees to join him.

While at lunch with Gun-Woo, Camille tells him that she will be his mentor and guide him on all things pertaining to lifestyle. This includes lessons on how not to be a label whore. What a great aunt, isn’t she?

It also turns out Lena does really have a knack for Vlad’s job! When she arrives at the client’s house she immediately helps design his dream look. She talks him through a modern mid-century appearance with rose gold as the base color. The client is so thrilled with Lena’s suggestions that he tells Vlad that Lena absolutely has to work on the project with him.

Later that night, Martin’s date kicks off and seems to be going pretty well. In fact, it leads to kissing but quickly stops when the date realizes Lena is watching them from inside the house. Martin takes this as an opportunity to introduce Lena to his date, Paige (Ali Larter). Once again, the uncomfortable and weird Lena comes out which is only worsened by Vlad’s presence. Their situation is highly unusual as Martin tries to explain to Paige.

Meanwhile, Lena is talking to Vlad about what just happened. She can’t seem to decide if she loves or hates Paige, but it’s very obvious how she’s feeling. In fact, Vlad points out that Lena is still in love with Martin. He also goes on to say that she does not give off single vibes at all and tries to prove his point by kissing her. After their kiss, Vlad says there was no heat, but Lena says that he caught her off-guard and she would have done much better if she knew. When she tries to kiss him again, he refuses. Ouch!

A little bit later, Martin comes in looking for their old record player and sees Lena working on stuff for Vlad’s client. Despite everything, Martin is thrilled about Lena’s involvement with this and knows she will be great. She takes the opportunity to try and explain why she’s behaving the way she is as well.

Arthur becomes worried that Camille isn’t teaching Gun-Woo anything useful, but he couldn’t be more wrong. Sure, she’s teaching him about travel destinations and the best time to go. But, along the way, she’s presenting problem-solving situations that allow him to learn in a unique way. What do you have to say to that, Arthur?

Things between Lena and Paige get very awkward by the end of this episode and let’s just say Paige is not as great as we’d like her to be. To apologize for her behavior, Lena brings Paige breakfast as a way to say thank you for understanding their weird situation. However, Paige calls her out and says she knows that Lena still has feelings for Martin and the nice girl act isn’t going to fly with her.

And while there may be trouble in paradise with Martin, things are turning around between Lena and Vlad. In fact, he asks her to work with another client. While he’s showing her pictures, she jumps on him and starts kissing him. And guess what? There was plenty of heat that time.
