Star – Who’s the Daddy

Carlotta (Queen Latifah) has fallen asleep on the studio. Suddenly, she hears somebody calling her and when she opens her eyes she sees Jahil (Benjamin Bratt) standing right in front of her. A moment passes until she realizes that the person that is actually calling her is Andy (Elijah Kelley), who apparently had decided to stop hiding in Philadelphia and returned wanting his career back. Carlota explains to him that her sister will not let him get away with it and she asks him to hide at the studio meanwhile she figures how to save him.

Carlotta decides to be by Star´s (Jude Demorest) side when the girl goes to her first ultrasound. She asks for Simone (Brittany O’Grady), but her younger sister is still resenting everything that has happened and decides not to show up. Star gets disappointed about it but accepts it anyway. After seeing Star´s baby on the monitor, the girl starts to question herself whether if she is going to be a good mother or not. Carlotta tries to cheer her up and then they are interrupted by Mateo’ s (William Levy) call announcing that he wants to meet her at the office as soon as possible.

Maurice (Lance Gross) and Cassie (Brandy Norwood) meet to plan how they are going to bring Carlotta down. Cassie wants Maurice to convince Noah (Luke James) to join them so that way they would smash Carlotta. Even though Maurice doesn’t seem to entirely agree, he promise that he will do his best to bring the guy onboard.

Alex (Ryan Destiny) is so lost in her memories of Bianca (Alexis Louder) that she can barely hear Derek (Quincy Brown) when he speaks to her about having canceled the moving truck to New York. He asks her to take a break from all the hard work she had put herself through, but she refuses and leaves the house saying that she will go to the studio and work on the album that Carlotta has requested from them.  Derek sees his grandma Ruby (Juanita Jennings) folding the clothes quietly so he decides to go and talk to her when he sees the woman´s face bruises and her evident concern while he keeps asking what happened to her.

Simone and Nina (Camila Banus) have a brief encounter in which the older woman assures her that nothing happened between them, something that makes Simone a little less nervous about the whole situation. Later that day Carlotta, Mateo and Nina meet so the man can inform them that he wants Star and Noah to make a movie called Black Ivy. Carlotta refuses and decides to tell them Star’s secret. Carlotta meets with the girls and lets them know the news about the movie and how Mateo wants them to write a song for it, but they are not so happy about it. Suddenly Star´s phone is blown up with notifications and then she realizes that her pregnancy news is spread all over Gravity Media´s gossip site.

Star pays a visit to Mateo and yells at him for sharing the news about her pregnancy online. Carlotta confesses that she was the one who told him about it and if there is someone she needs to blame that is her. Mateo tells Star that she must be happy that everybody is talking about her now and that she must use it for her own favor. He asks her to attend to the press junket that they will be hosting later that night, but she refuses. Star begins to feel sick and feels like she is about to throwup, so she goes straight to Mateo and vomits all over his shirt.

Maurice goes to Noah trying to talk business with him, but Noah has decided that he wants nothing to do with him. He asks him where he was when he was going through the worst times. Although Maurice tries to apologize, Noah has none of it.

A cop (Gissette Valentin) that is helping Derek with the investigation of his grandma’s assault confirms that she had found the woman´s clothes and indicates potential signs of sexual assault and that she needs to be taken to hospital for a checkup. Derek can´t believe what he´s hearing so he walks over to Ruby, but the woman does not allow him to touch her and yells that she won´t let anyone to put a hand on her. Star meets Cotton (Amiyah Scott) and Jayden (Trayce Malachi) and the woman scolds Star for not telling her the truth about her pregnancy. Cotton asks her who the father is, but Star changes the subject and walks away from her. Jayden has been drawing all along and when Cotton sees what he´s been doing he asks the kid to explain and he says that the man in his pictures is his grandpa, which also happens to be his hero.

The girls are gathered at a studio trying to make a new song, but Star is not focused at all on the music but rather on the screen of her phone reading all the nasty comments about her. Simone gets mad at her for not helping and before they realize it they are yelling horrible things at each other until Miss Bruce (Miss Lawrence) walks in and tries to stop them. Alex gets a call from Derek and she leaves the place in a haste followed by Simone. Alex arrives at Ruby´s house only to find a very unsettled Derek pacing around blaming himself for what happened to his grandmother while the woman is sitting there looking disturbed. In the meantime, Noah visits Star and asks her if the baby is his but she denies it.

Cotton goes to see Cassie and tells her that she talked to the police and, unfortunately, they have nothing new on Jahil´s case so she asks for her aunt´s help to solve the murder. She promises that she won´t let her father´s death to be in vain.

At the press junket Mateo announces that Noah will be the star of their new movie Black Ivy and that Take Three will collaborate on the soundtrack. Star takes advantage of the situation and confirms the news about her. Then, question after question is thrown at her wanting to know more details about her current situation, but the woman gets sick of it and yells and insults some other people as she makes her way out of the place. Simone follows her and tries to calm her down, but once again, they end up in a fight. Andy asks Noah to meet him and asks for his help, but Noah tells him that given his current situation he can´t be of much assistance. Andy understands and walks away from him.

Alex watches Ruby as the woman closes her windows and the girl promises her that nobody will enter the house again. They both come clean to each other about their feelings as Ruby tells her what is going through her mind after what happened to her and Alex confesses about her PTSD.

Cotton shows Carlotta Jayden’s drawing and tells her how she feels about Jahil´s death. The woman says that they need to move on, but Cotton believes that her mother has been loading herself with work in order to avoid feeling something. She also tells her that as she doesn’t want to help her do her father justice, Cassie will.

Simone pays a visit to Mateo and Nina and tells them that she wants to audition for Star´s part on the Black Ivy movie, but they tell her that the part´s already taken Simone retorts that if there is someone capable of playing such role it is her since she won´t be playing any character but her own story, leaving the couple dumbfounded behind her.

Cassie tricks Noah by making him believe that Mateo had called him, but instead it was her waiting for him. She tells him that she and Maurice are planning to create the most successful Venue in town where he can be the resident artist. Even though Noah declines at first, there is a moment where he can picture himself completely at it and then he decides to take the offer; however, it is on one condition – to involve Carlotta in the process. Also, he lets her know that if she doesn’t wasn’t to then he can refer someone to her that might be interested, and he mentions that Andy could be a good choice. Cassie can´t help but to be excited to know that Andy is back in town and she can finally get her revenge.

Alex and Ruby are in the waiting room at the hospital and nobody seems to be attending them. Alex gets tired of waiting and yells at one of the nurses for not providing their assistance. Finally, she manages to get their attention and she promises Ruby that she won´t go anywhere and she´s got her back.

Star is annoyed that she can´t sing right due to all the vomiting, but Cotton tries to cheer her up. Suddenly, Simone walks in the studio and lets her know that she can prove everyone wrong and be a great mother. Alex arrives and is happy to see that the sisters are finally talking to each other again. The three of them decide to work together and create the song they have asked for.

Carlotta asks Cassie to stay away from Cotton and also finds out that Cassie knows that Andy is back. She says she is on her way to get him.

Mateo is upset that Carlotta released the Take Three video when it could´ve been used as a part of the soundtrack, but the woman doesn’t seem to care. She also lets him know that the song is also the first single of Take Three;s new album. In the meantime, Simone is catching up with Angel (Evan Ross) and ends up telling him that she wants to get divorce. Derek finally falls apart in Alex´s arms after trying to be strong for his grandmother Ruby.

Cotton convinces Star to let her baby´s father know about it and the girl manages to visit him. In the meantime, Bobby (Harold Perrineau) knocks at his son´s Noah door and although at first the man refuses to listen to him, he finally lets him in. Star finally gets the courage to knock at the door she´s been avoiding all along and is met with Jackson (Matthew Noszka). She hands him the ultrasound picture and he smiles happily at it.
