Q) What are the recent projects that you have been busy working on?

A) I am currently working on projects at my production company, HarisGrant Productions, co-founded with my creative partner/brother Michael Grant. We are in the festival circuit now for our film, Kepley, starring Emmy-nominee Elizabeth Mitchell and Aaron Stanford. We just got back from Orlando where Kepley was nominated for Best Short Film.

I’ve also been filming Season 9 of “The Goldbergs” on ABC.

Q) We love seeing you on “The Goldbergs” as Emmy Mirsky. How was she originally described to you?

A) Emmy was originally described as funny, sarcastic and best friend to Adam Goldberg. I first booked the show when I was thirteen years old and just thought she was an amazing character with so many great one-liners! I think Emmy has certainly evolved over the years to be truer to my personality, but she is still that same sarcastic and loving friend that she was in my very first episode.

Q) We know you met the real Emmy Mirsky. What kind of stories did she share with you about growing up with Adam Goldberg?

A) I didn’t get to meet the real Emmy until season 6 and she was so open and kind. She said that most of the stories on the show, even the crazy ones, are pretty much true. She said she had some of the best times of her childhood with Adam and was so happy to see these crazy stories come to life on screen again.

Q) As Adam and Emmy are set to graduate this year, what are Emmy’s future plans?

A) I’m not sure yet what the writers have in store for Emmy’s college and career plans, but I know it’s going to be great and can’t wait to find out.

Q) What were some of your most memorable moments or favorite episodes to film for “The Goldbergs?”

A) My most favorite episode I’ve filmed on the show would be “Double Dare” in Season 3. In this episode Adam (Sean Giambrone) and Emmy audition to be on a game show together and everything just goes horribly wrong from there. They actually built a whole gameshow set on one of the soundstages and we just had a blast climbing through slime and mush completing the obstacle courses. It was some of the most fun I’ve ever had on set and didn’t even feel like work.

Q) What have you taken away from your time working on this special series?

A) As an actor and filmmaker, I’m just grateful for my entire experience on Goldbergs. I’ve learned so much both personally and professionally from the cast and have such great memories growing up on set. The show is really like a family, and we are all so open and supportive of one another. I’ve learned a wealth of practical information about filmmaking and acting and I think my career would look very different today if I had not booked the show.

Q) You are also a filmmaker. What inspired you to step behind the camera?

A) I just love the art of film and filmmaking. I think it takes freedom and discipline to craft a great film. For Michael and I, making films was a very fitting next step for where we were in our careers. We both still enjoy acting in front of the camera, but also really love the creativity that comes with crafting a story from start to finish.

Q) Adam Goldberg grew up wanting to be a director himself. Did he offer any advice or tips over the years?

A) Goldberg is a wonderful writer and creator. I’ve learned so much just watching and observing the way he tells stories in such a unique and captivating way. His attention to detail in every aspect of the show has definitely been one of the biggest things we try and incorporate in our work.

Q) Your film Kepleyis making the rounds at film festivals. Please tell us the premise for the movie and what inspired it.

A) Kepley is a neo noir thriller centered around veteran detective, Gillian Kepley. During Kepley’s investigation of a troubling missing persons case, hidden truths from her past are uncovered. The case pushes her beyond her limits and forces her to confront mistakes from her burdened life.

We were really inspired by the films of Alfred Hitchcock and Terrence Malick for Kepley. We wanted to create a film that would take the classic detective story made so iconic in Hitchock’s films and turn it on its head by marrying both noir and lyrical influences together.

Q) You created HarisGrant Productions with your brother Michael. What are the pros and cons of working with your sibling?

A) I don’t think there are too many cons of working with my brother! We have a really great shorthand with each other and collaborate quite closely on everything (writing, pre/post-production, etc.). We can also be completely honest with one another about our work in a way that one can really only be with family.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who are fans and supporters of you and the work you do?

A) I would just like to thank all the fans who have tuned in every week to watch “The Goldbergs” throughout the years! The fan base for the show is amazing and they are a big part of why we have been able to continue releasing seasons for so many years. I know there’s a lot of content out there and it’s impossible to watch it all, so I am very grateful to anyone who takes the time to view and support our work.
