Q) How would you best describe your sound?

A) It’s always changing, but for the album Teresa, I kind of was working in this kind of echoy/blurry inner-landscapes type thing. I did most of the album at a living room table in Spain monitoring through a little mono Bluetooth speaker, with a nylon string guitar and a bandurria.

Q) Who are your Top 3 musical influences?

A) When I was working on Teresa I was very in to Young Thug, and Bad Gyal. Recently, I was very much enjoying Hejira by Joni Mitchell. I had that one on repeat for a few months. I really love Carrie & Lowell by Sufjan Stevens. I return to that one often and will pretty much always listen to the whole album.

Q) Tell us the story behind your latest song “True Love.”

A) It kinda was born out of a bunch of noise I recorded and filtered, and pitch shifted. The spirit of the song is about following your truest expression and not settling

Q) You also released a music video via YouTube for “True Love.” How did you come up with the concept for the music video?

A) A very talented animator, Sabrina Nichols, made that video for us. I put together a bunch of art that I had done to help me kind of just finish the album and she did some animations inspired by those drawings. We are doing another for a song in the next couple months with more lore. [winks]

Q) Since its release, what has been the overall reaction from fans and listeners to “True Love?”

A) Generally positive and wonderfully mild reaction. [smiles]

Q) What message do you hope fans take away from the song?

A) Some moments of enjoyment

Q) “True Love” is the first single off your upcoming album Teresa, which is being released later this year. What are some themes you’ll be exploring on it?

A) It’s a lot of self-discovery and exploring my desires and truest yearnings.

Q) How did you decide upon naming the album Teresa?

A) One night on the street in Spain, I got nicknamed “Teresa” by a new friend I had met on the street. I just loved the way that name felt and began to use it as a little mantra to point toward an authentic integrated personality. Eventually, it just became the name of the work.

Q) What song(s) off the album hold a special significance for you and what makes them so personal?

A) It was the first time in a while I had time to make music for no other reason than the expression. Being involved in so many projects with various goals and people and visions is very fun and fulfilling, but I began making music in solitude and it’s been so wonderful to reincorporate that into my life.

Q) You have had the chance to work with and collaborate with artists such as P!nk, Leon Bridges, and Shawn Mendes – even earning a Grammy nom! Who would you consider your dream collaboration?

A) I’ve been quite fortunate to work on some very special projects. My dream is always just that feeling when it all just clicks in and we all disappear into the work, those Army fav collars.

Q) What artist/musician are you currently listening to?

A) Blake Mills’ album Jelly Road. I love it so much! ughhhhhhh him and Chris Weisman are quite the pair. I‘ve been obsessed. Also, I got to play hambone percussion on “the light is long” which was the highlight of my year. [smiles]

Q) What would you like to say to your fans and supporters of your music?

A) Thank you for the love 💗
