Jane Sloan (Katie Stevens) and Sutton Brady (Meghann Fahy) arrive at the airport with a sign to welcome home Kat Edison (Aisha Dee). However, Kat’s plane is delayed and Jane and Sutton wait hours for it to arrive. Kat finally arrives and the three embrace. In the cab ride, Jane comments that Kat is glowing and Kat tells them her trip with Adena El Amin (Nikohl Boosheri) was incredible. Kat tells them that Adena is flying back to New York with a temporary visa. Sutton calls Kat and Adena a gay power couple, and comments that she’s never seen Kat this happy. Kat tells them she wants everyone to know and tells the cab driver about Adena.

Sutton stops Kat from talking to the cab driver, and Kat asks if there’s been any more hookups with Richard Hunter (Sam Page). Sutton tells her that there was one for closure, but admits at Jane’s urging that it was twice. She says that nothing can happen as long as they both work at the company, but Jane suggests she come to Incite with her. Sutton asks the cab driver to make an additional stop, explaining that she needs to pick up something for Oliver Grayson (Stephen Conrad Moore).

The three go to the store, and Jane and Kat rush to try on clothes as Sutton picks up what she needs. Jane likes a top that she tries on, but struggles to pull it over her head. Kat and Sutton help her as Jacqueline Carlyle (Melora Hardin) enters the fitting room. Jane is embarrassed when she sees Jacqueline after Sutton and Kat pull the top back down, and they say hello to each other.

Jacqueline is pleased to hear that Jane has gotten her own vertical at Incite, and Jane explains that she’s starting a series called “Feminist Army” about inspiring women. Jacqueline tells her that she misses her at Scarlet, but is glad that she’s doing important work over at Incite. Kat films a vlog as she climbs into bed with Adena, who is trying to sleep. Adena tells her to stop posting and to come back to bed. Kat reminds her that it’s her first day back at Scarlet, and suggests they have lunch together. Adena agrees, and Kat kisses her goodbye.

As they walk into Scarlet, Kat tells Sage (Stephanie Costa) about her trip and asks Sutton how things are with Alex (Matt Ward) as he approaches. Sutton tells her that they are on good terms despite things being awkward, and Alex greets them. Kat comments on his new look, and he asks Sutton for styling help on an article about effective profile pictures. Sutton agrees, and Oliver yells at her to help him.

Jacqueline asks Kat to come to her office, and Kat tells her she appreciated the time off. Jacqueline comments that the request seemed to be about more than the vacation, and Kat admits that she realized that everything good that has happened is because of Scarlet. Kat declares that she’s ready to kick ass for her, and Jacqueline is pleased. Jacqueline warns her that rebuilding the social media department will be a lot of work, and asks her to sit in a board meeting discussing some disappointing user results.

Oliver announces that it’s time for the sexual harassment seminar, and Peggy Lillard (Tamara Brown) announces that Scarlet has a new policy on office relationships. Richard comes up and explains that people in the office can date as long as both parties sign an agreement that the relationship is consensual. Kat asks questions about the policy in relation to Sutton and Richard’s situation. Richard ends by telling them to come to his office if they have additional questions, looking pointedly at Sutton.

Jane goes to the Incite pitch meeting and Victoria Johnson (Rebecca Croll) tells the staff that numbers are down before asking for out-of-the-box thinking. Jane pitches her idea, a profile on Emma Cox (Brittany LeBorgne), whose company makes menstrual cups and donates a portion of the cups to underprivileged communities. Victoria doesn’t understand the story, and Jane explains that Emma embodies her intent to inspire women. The story is approved and Victoria compliments Jane’s passion.

Sutton visits Richard and asks for clarification on the new policy. Richard invites her in, and confirms he was talking about their relationship. Sutton doesn’t believe that it’s that simple, but Richard tells her its official and that they can be public about their relationship now. He tells her he wants to be with her, and Sutton is excited about the possibility. Jane interviews Emma, and compliments her work for women’s rights in the city. As Jane wraps up the interview, she tells Emma that she will inspire a lot of women.

Sutton pulls Kat into the fashion closet and tells her she wants to talk about Richard. She comments that Jane needs to be there and Kat attempts to get Jane on video chat. However, the video keeps freezing and the connection is lost. Kat promises to text Jane the details, and asks Sutton what is going on. Sutton tells her about her conversation with Richard, and that she is in disbelief. Kat tells her that her relationship with Adena is difficult as well, but it’s worth it. Sutton decides to go for it, and Kat is excited by the possibility of double dates.

Kat sits in on the board meeting, where Richard suggests that they attempt to appeal to a broader audience. Kat interrupts, and tells them that she learned in her travels that Scarlet is perceived as a magazine for straight, white, middle-class women. She argues that the website should take more risks, and creates an experiment of posting two posts, one with the Royal family and one about a person who identifies as a unicorn. The unicorn gets more traffic, and Kat proves that starting conversations is more important than the story.

Kat tells Sutton about the meeting, and Sutton declares she is on fire. Mitzi (Katharine King) steps out of the elevator, gossiping to her friend that Sutton only gets styling jobs due to her relationship with Alex. Sutton orders all of them to go to the fashion closet, and confronts Mitzi. Mitzi accuses her of getting preferential treatment, and Kat defends Sutton. However, Mitzi continue to insist that Sutton is sleeping her way to the top and Sutton storms off. Kat defends Sutton again before following her.

Sutton is worried about the gossip, but Kat tries to comfort her. Adena is waiting for Kat, and asks if everything is okay. Kat admits that things are not, and Adena asks if Sutton would want to join them for lunch. Kat tells her that she has a lot going on, and asks for a rain check. Adena tells her she understands, and Kat kisses her goodbye. Adena reminds her she’s at work, but Kat doesn’t care who sees.

Jane interviews Lisa (Mariah Inger) on the impact of Emma’s menstrual cups, and Lisa replies that it’s been a poor impact. She explains that the shelter women don’t have the ability to properly sterilize the cups, and that the cups were made with privileged women in mind. Jane asks if she’s talked to Emma about the problem, and Lisa replies that Emma is aware of it.

Alex assures Sutton that he didn’t tells anyone about their hook-up and suggests that somebody saw them leave together. She tells him about Mitzi’s accusation, and asks why he gave her the styling credits. He tells her it’s because she’s talented, and she answers a call from Rachel Antonoff (Rachel Antonoff) about the upcoming photo shoot. Sutton hangs up and suggests that he give someone else styling credits. Alex advises her not to let people’s opinions affect her, but Sutton doesn’t believe her talent is enough.

Jane asks Emma about the problems with the cups, and she tells her that she stopped the program as soon as she found out. However, Jane points out that he advertising still promotes the program and Emma is worried about losing funding to research a possible solution to the problem. Jane points out that she’s covering up a safety issue, but Emma insists that it’s part of taking risks.

Kat comes home to find that Adena has cooked dinner for them.  She is appreciative, and Adena is looking forward to spending the evening with her. However, Kat tells her that she needs to go to a Scarlet party and invites her to come with her. Jane tells Sutton that she can’t go to the party when she’s stressed about how to write her first article. She insists that she can’t have her first piece tear women down, and Sutton admits that she doesn’t know how to face Richard. She asks Jane how she made the decision to leave Scarlet, and Jane admits that she feels like she made a mistake at the moment.

Sutton admits she’s worried about her reputation if she goes public with Richard, and Jane points out that Richard doesn’t have to worry about that. Jane suggests that she decided whether she wants to gamble on love or career, and Sutton comments that her honest phrasing has put perspective to the dilemma. Jane realizes that she should approach her article with honesty, and agrees to go to the party now that she isn’t as worried.

At the party, Adena thanks Jacqueline for the vacation time and Jacqueline asks Kat to walk the carpet to increase her profile. Kat asks Adena to join her, but Adena refuses. She asks what’s wrong, but Adena tells her to go and Kat walks the carpet alone. After she finishes taking photos, Kat asks Adena what’s going on. Adena tells her that she thinks they’re going too fast, but Kat points out that they just took a vacation together and live together. Kat keeps pressing, and Adena admits that Kat isn’t ready to go down on her as Jane and Sutton approach them. Adena apologizes and tells her they’ll discuss it back at the apartment.

Jane comments that the conversation didn’t look good, and Sutton gets an idea. She convinces the Coatcheck Girl to let them use the coatroom as a makeshift fashion closet. Kat expresses her insecurities about going down on Adena, but Jane assures that one sex act won’t break up their relationship and advises her to talk to Adena. Sutton finds Antonoff and asks her if she needs anything. Antonoff compliments her work before Sutton gets a text from Richard asking to meet.

Jane approaches Jacqueline at the bar, and tells her that her article launches tomorrow. Jacqueline comments that moving to Incite was good for her and congratulates her. Sutton finds Richard and tells him that she can’t make their relationship public, worried about her reputation. Richard tells her that she’s walking away from someone who loves her, but Sutton tells him that she’s choosing her career and hopes that love will eventually follow.  Richard tells her he feels the opposite, and that he can’t be with her in secret anymore. Sutton confirms that they have to end things for real this time and Richard walks away.

Kat returns home and tells Adena that she feels like she screwed things up. Adena assures her she didn’t, and apologizes for snapping. Kat asks why she didn’t ask, and Adena reminds her of her hesitation when they first met. Kat tells her that she didn’t know what she was talking about ten, and Adena admits she didn’t want to pressure her. Kat admits she was worried, and Adena tells her that talking about is more intimate than the act itself.

As Jane writes her article, Kat and Adena kiss in bed before Kat flips their positions and goes down on Adena. The next morning, Sutton sees Richard on her top contact list and deletes him. Victoria calls Jane to tell her that her article was posted, and Jane is excited. However, Jane pulls up the article and sees that Victoria edited it to make it a smear piece calling Emma a fraud.
