As they wait in the fertility treatment center, Jane Sloan (Katie Stevens) thanks Sutton Brady (Meghann Fahy) and Kat Edison (Aisha Dee) for coming with her, feeling confident in her decision to freeze her eggs. The clinic receptionist tells Jane that the appointment will cost $750. Jane tells her that the clinic takes her insurance, but the receptionist tells her that fertility treatments aren’t covered in her policy. Jane tells Kat and Sutton that they’re leaving, taking the waiting room’s macaroons as they walk out the door.

Jacqueline Carlyle (Melora Hardin) tells the staff not going to Paris to step up and fill her role when she’s gone. Sutton thanks Oliver Grayson (Stephen Conrad Moore) for letting her go to Paris, but Oliver wants to make sure that she does everything needed for the trip, as the trip can elevate or ruin her career. Oliver asks her to send flowers to Richard Hunter (Sam Page), explaining that his father died of a heart attack and that the wake is that evening. Cleo Williams (Siobhan Murphy) meets with Jacqueline, telling her that the board is considering removing her as head of Scarlet.

Jane talks to Jacqueline about Safford’s refusal to cover fertility treatments, and Jacqueline tells her that the health policy isn’t as progressive as other companies. Jane argues that Viagra is covered and asks for an audience with the board, but Jacqueline tells her it’s not the right time. Jane rants about Safford’s sexist healthcare policy to Sutton, and then asks what’s wrong when she doesn’t answer. Sutton tells her about Richard’s father’s death, believing that she can attend the wake as a friend and still make her red eye flight to Paris.

Adena El Amin (Nikohl Boosheri) is excited to return to the studio, but Kat tells her she was hoping to spend time with her before she leaves for Paris. Adena offers to postpone her trip to the studio for the next day and answers a call from her immigration lawyer. Adena excitedly tells Kat that she was approved for a visa and they embrace. She tells Kat that she has to leave the country and reenter it, and Kat suggests she go to Paris with her. Adena tells her it’s a great idea, and Kat is excited for the chance to reset.

Sutton and Jane attend Richard’s father’s wake, and Jane reminds her they can’t stay long. Richard sees them enter, and Sutton hugs Richard before paying her respects. Jessica (Tattiawna Jones) comes over and thanks Sutton for coming before telling Richard it’s time for his speech. Sutton is upset about how close Richard and Jessica seem, and Richard gets the room’s attention before saying some words about his father. Remarking that life is short, Richard says that they should spend time with the people that make them feel alive. Sutton notices that Richard puts his arm around Jessica as he glances at her, and Sutton is convinced he’s talking solely about Jessica.

Sutton, Kat, and Adena arrive in Paris, and Sutton is excited by the hotel. Oliver gives Sutton work instructions and Adena tells Kat that she can’t wait to show her around Paris. Jacqueline says hello to them before asking to speak to Kat about social media issues. She tells Kat that the RSVPs for the Scarlet party are low, and Kat promises to convince models and influencers to attend. Jane tells Ben Chau (Luca James Lee) about her healthcare policy issues, and he tells her that his hospital would allow him to offer the policy for free for family of staff. Jane points out that she’s not family, and Ben suggests that they fill out the paperwork suggesting they’re domestic partners.

Kat attempts to convince a model (Maia Donnelly) to come to the Scarlet party while filming her, but Oliver takes her phone away and explains that Vivienne Marchand (Nicole-Sylvie Lagarde) has a no cell phone policy. She asks him how she’s supposed to get content, and he tells her it’s not his problem. Oliver tells Sutton they need to preview the collection for the show, and Sutton writes down the outfits that Oliver points out to her in a notebook. Sutton suggests a metallic dress on the rack, but Oliver refuses to allow it.

Jane finds Ryan Decker (Dan Jeannotte) waiting for her in the elevator, and he tries to talk to her about the weather. He explains that she made it clear that she doesn’t want to talk about what’s going on in her life, so he figured the weather was the safest topic. Jane decides to tell him the truth and asks what he knows about female fertility. Adena runs into Eliat (Anthony Kavanagh) as she and Kat walk down the street and embraces him. Adena introduces him to Kat and explains Eliat is an old friend. He asks Adena where she’s been, and Adena tells him she’s been taking a break. She tells him she’s been working on something new and that she doesn’t plan to show her work at Coco’s (Nora Guerch) gallery anymore. As they walk away, Kat questions if Coco isn’t letting Adena show her work because of her, but Adena insists she doesn’t want to talk about Coco.

Sage (Stephanie Costa) tells Jane and Alex (Matt Ward) that an artist that specializes in engagement ring designs has been making sketches for Richard. Jane freaks out and drags Alex into the fashion closet, explaining that he is the only one that knows about Sutton and Richard’s relationship. She explains that Sutton isn’t over Richard, and debates telling her that Richard plans to propose to Jessica. Alex comments that he thought this office gossip would be more fun, and Jane tells him this is why he doesn’t get invited.

Sutton answers Jane’s call as she prepares her bath, and Jane tells her about Richard’s potential proposal. Sutton accidentally drops the notebook with Oliver’s notes, and finds the ink illegible once she pulls it out. She freaks out about the notebook and Richard’s proposal as Kat tries to help her read the pages. Sutton admits that she made her decision in ending things with Richard, and Kat questions if that’s how Adena feels in regard to Coco before admitting that things feels weird.

Ryan visits Jane and tells her that he wants to pay for her fertility treatment as he hands her an egg carton. He argues that she is the one who inspired him to write his book, and that he likes her a lot. Ryan tells her that he thinks they would be great together, and that he’s ready to commit to her. Jane reminds him that she has a boyfriend, but Ryan tells her he doesn’t care before kissing her. She tells him he should go, and he leaves. Jane tells Kat and Sutton what happened over video chat, and Jane debates which guy she should choose as both a boyfriend and to help with the fertility treatment. Kat suggests that Jane come to Paris, but Jane tells her that it costs too much. Kat tells Jane that she has a ton of airline miles, and Sutton offers to have her stay in her room.

Kat meets with Coco and apologizes for the way things ended with her and Adena. Kat asks if she is the reason Coco refuses to show Adena’s work, and Coco tells her that Adena hasn’t produced anything in months, suggesting that Kat is to blame. Jane and Kat drink champagne in the lobby, and Kat asks if she’s decided between Ryan and Ben. Jane tells her that she’s decided to handle the healthcare issue herself and decides to write an article about Safford’s sexist healthcare policy. Sutton greets Jane and downs the rest of her champagne. Jane is jealous that they got to see Marchand’s outfits, and comments that she’s even more interested when Kat tells her that photos weren’t allowed.

Sutton tells Oliver what happened to the notebook, and Oliver advises her not to screw things up. Kat approaches Jacqueline and suggests that they have a social media blackout at the Scarlet party to raise the interest in what’s going on there. Jacqueline comments that it’s a bizarre strategy but agrees to attempt it. Sutton struggles to remember the pieces at first, but soon is able to remember her notes. She includes the metallic dress that Oliver rejected, and Oliver agrees to include it after Sutton advocates for it.

After Marchand leaves, Oliver calls Sutton’s work impressive. He questions why she’s so sad, and Sutton admits that she can’t share this amazing experience with the person she loves. Oliver questions why she broke up with him and admits that the person she loves is Richard. Sutton explains that she broke up with him because she wanted people to see her for her talent rather than her relationship, but Oliver argues that her talent is undeniable and that she shouldn’t walk away from love. Jacqueline meets with Jane and is surprised that she’s in Paris. She tells her she liked her article, but that it’s the wrong time to post it. Jacqueline apologizes, and Jane comments that it was silly of her to try to be her own Prince Charming. Jacqueline tells her that it’s not silly, and Jane promises to figure it out.

Adena tells Kat that her visa will be available tomorrow. Kat tells Adena about her conversation with Coco and the implication that she is stifling her creativity. Adena is upset that she went to Coco and tells Kat that she and Coco had a different kind of relationship. Kat suggests that she means that she had more freedom with Coco, and Adena admits it’s possible. Kat admits it’s hard to hear that she’s the opposite of a muse, and Adena assures her that she doesn’t want to feel this way. Kat tells her she doesn’t know what she wants, and Adena suggests there’s a way that they can both have space in their relationship. Kat replies that she can’t do things halfway and admits that she doesn’t know what she should do. She leaves to get ready for the party and breaks down in the bathroom.

Sutton questions if this is a terrible idea, but Jane convinces her to go to Richard. Jane realizes that they never took their selfie, but Sutton reminds her that Kat isn’t there. Jane reminds her that it’s now or never, and Richard asks if he wants his help as they struggle to take the selfie. Sutton is shocked to see him in Paris, and he asks if she’s going somewhere. She admits she was going to see him, and he tells her he came to Paris for her. Sutton asks about Jessica, but Richard tells her it’s always been her before they kiss. Jane stands awkwardly before deciding to give them space. Sutton stops kissing to admit that she is the one who got in the way of their relationship, not her career. Richard tells her he’s always believed in her, and she apologizes for not realizing sooner before they resume kissing.

Andrew and Jacqueline go over the final details for the party, and Andrew comments that if she’s going to go down, she should go down swinging. Jacqueline is inspired to publish Jane’s article, and Jane is thrilled to see the alert before getting texts from both Ben and Ryan. Sutton comments on Richard’s cufflinks as they get ready for the party and he explains that they were made from his father’s class rings, which Sutton realizes is why he asked for the ring sketches. They are excited to enter and exit the party together, but Richard gets notification that the board wants to replace Jacqueline.

The guests of the party turn in their cell phones for the party, and Jacqueline compliments Kat on her idea. Jane thanks Jacqueline for publishing her article, and Jacqueline enters the party. Sutton and Richard step out of the car and walk the red carpet as a couple. Jane comments that Sutton decided what she wanted, and Kat advises her to make her decision based on which guy she feels like telling good news first. She realizes that she knows who to pick, and Kat gets a text that Adena isn’t coming. Sutton asks to meet Richard inside, and Kat tells Sutton and Jane about what happened with Adena. Jane tells Kat that she’s inspiring, and Sutton compliments her work on the party. Kat insists she’ll be fine since she has them, and they take a red-carpet selfie before entering the party.
