The Flash – Fury Rogue
By: Stacy Miller
Dr. Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh) asks the computer Gideon (voice Morena Baccarin) to run simulations but the same conclusions are reached: The dark matter fused with Wells’ thinking cap has disrupted Harry neuro brain path, meaning Harry is losing his intelligence and in a short time, he’ll have to relearn everything.
Meanwhile, Barry (Grant Gustin) and Iris (Candice Patton) are in a therapy session with Dr. Sharon Finkel (Donna Pescow) to come to terms with their feeling over Ralph’s (Hartley Sawyer) death. “It still doesn’t feel real,” Iris tells Dr. Finkel. “How close were you with Ralph?” Dr. Finkel asks Iris, who says that at first there were things about Ralph she didn’t like but came to see him as a hero. When Dr. Finkel asks Barry his feelings, he tells her that he’s dealing with it as he’s had a lot of practice due to all the other losses in his life. “Grief is a complex emotion, there is no practice make perfect,” Dr. Finkel tells Barry as he and Iris are leaving the psychiatrist’s office.
In their pocket universe, DeVoe (Neil Sandilands) tells his wife Marlize (Kim Engelbrecht) that the elasticized cells of Ralph’s body have made it possible for him to hold another Meta Human’s powers without the fear of burn out. DeVoe tells Marlize it’s time to focus on the next stage of their plans. But Marlize thinks they have time to spend as husband and wife. “That is your first mistake, leave the thinking to me,” DeVoe says.
In Star Labs, Cisco (Carlos Valdes) attempts to put on Harry’s thinking cap but Wells stops him. Cisco blames Team Flash for accusing Harry of being addicted to the thinking cap; if they hadn’t stop him from using the thinking cap, then Ralph wouldn’t have died. Harry admits that he was addicted to the intelligence booster. He says that it wouldn’t have worked anyway because DeVoe is twice is smart. Then Cisco thinks Harry should build a second thinking cap for him (Cisco). That way they could share their ideas and perhaps come up with something that could finally take DeVoe down.
Iris asks Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) how she’s doing. Caitlin says that Killer Frost appears to be gone for good. They wonder that if DeVoe took Killer Frost’s powers on purpose. But why would he want them since he only seemed to be going after the bus metas. Team Flash’s security sensors go off. There’s a problem with Neil Borman a/k/a Fallout (Ryan Alexander McDonald). Team Flash needs to cool down Borman and then take him some place were DeVoe will never find him.
On Earth X, Leo Snart / Citizen Cold (Wentworth Miller) faces super villain Siren X (Katie Cassidy), who vows to avenge her fallen brothers and sisters. Vibe and The Flash arrive on Earth X and tells Snart that they need his help. Vibe creates a breach just in time. But Siren X follows them to Earth Prime.
Back at Star Labs, Team Flash tell Snart about their DeVoe problem and how they need his cold gun to put the cool down on Borman. Snart agrees to help but adds that they only get him for twenty-four hours because he and Ray are getting married. With the nuclear suit Team Flash is building along with Snart’s cold gun and the facility A.R.G.U.S can keep Borman, Fallout’s nuclear powers should be controlled.
Cisco and Harry test the thinking cap, but it blows out due to a power overload and the power source they need is on Harry’s Earth. It’s obvious that Harry is worried about Cisco suffering the same fate that he did with his (Harry’s) thinking cap because Wells doesn’t seem too eager and in a rush to get the replacement part needed to fix it.
Marlize comes to Clifford wearing a dress that he said was his favorite. But Clifford tells Marlize that her mistake of thinking caused her to do something trivial (like putting on the dress). So from now until The Enlightenment, Clifford DeVoe says that Marlize’s primary role is as his technician. Ouch…Marlize has been demoted from DeVoe’s wife to his mechanic!
Snart tells Barry that in order to be a good leader, Barry has to grieve the loss of his fallen comrades just like Snart did. Citizen Cold adds that he’ll help Barry get Borman and DeVoe but if Citizen Cold dies before he marries Ray, Ray will kill him. Siren X is able to hear Team Flash talk about getting Borman and plans to intercept them.
Joe, Iris, Barry and Snart go to pick up Neil Borman, who tells The Flash that he trusts him to protect him because he saved him once. They go over the plan: Barry will run ahead of the truck to scout the road, Iris will monitor things at Star Labs and Joe, Caitlin and Snart will transport Borman to A.R.G.U.S. To pass the time while in the truck, Snart asks Caitlin about Killer Frost. Caitlin tells Snart how she and Killer Frost used to leave post-it notes as their way of talking with each other. When Barry arrives, Snart reminds Allen that if he doesn’t take the time to confront his feelings, his feelings will confront him (Barry). Iris alerts them to an opening pocket dimension. It is DeVoe.
The Flash and Citizen Cold face Clifford DeVoe on the road. Barry warns DeVoe that he’s not taking Borman. A confident DeVoe reminds Mr. Allen how he’s failed when he’s underestimated him before. Barry uses Harry’s Sonic Specter a/k/a large tuning fork against DeVoe but it doesn’t no damage. DeVoe laughs and taunts Barry that Mr. Dibny gave him a gift with his elasticity. When DeVoe calls Barry “rookie,” Allen freezes. Suddenly, Siren X appears and uses her canary scream to throw Barry, DeVoe and Snart to the ground. DeVoe escapes via a breach to his pocket dimension. “I want you all to listen carefully so I don’t have to raise my voice,” Siren X says, “This truck is now mine.”
Back at Star Labs, Team Flash is unable to find Joe and Caitlin because they can’t track Fallout’s radiation signature due to the hazmat suit. Snart tells Team Flash that the Laurel Lance of Earth X is known as Siren X. She is a killer assassin who carried a torch for Dark Arrow which was unrequited. So, now she wants revenge against all those responsible for his (Dark Arrow) death, including Snart.
Cisco manages to get the part he needed for the thinking cap from one of the old cubes Gypsy sent him. Harry admits that the thinking cap is dangerous and says that since he didn’t have any special powers, the only job of Harrison Wells was to be smarter than the villains Team Flash faced so he could help them defeat them.
Back at DeVoe’s pocket dimension, Clifford is furious that he accounted for every possible variable but the outcome turned out not as he expected…The Flash was supposed to defeat Siren X. Marlize reminds that with all his calculations what he didn’t count for was human emotion.
“CCPD, land of the free, home of the dead,” Siren X says as she storms into the Central City Police Department. She plans to destroy all the cops at the Central City Police Department to make up for her Nazi comrades being killed. Barry and Snart arrive at the CCPD to battle Siren X. But she uses her canary scream to throw Barry, Snart and Caitlin to the floor. Then, turns to Borman and raises his nuclear rads to the point of nuclear explosion. Snart encourages Barry to fight through the pain of losing Ralph. Barry does so, knocking Siren X to the floor. Snart and Caitlin grab the cold guns and are able to cool down Borman before he explodes.
Back at Star Labs, Team Flash thank Snart for helping them before Citizen Cold departs for Earth X. Barry thanks Snart for helping him to push through the pain. “Don’t be a stranger,” Barry tells Snart. “You never know,” is Snart’s response before je jumps through a breach to go home to Earth X.
Caitlin tells Iris the test she ran on herself (Caitlin) reveals that although there’s no trace of dark matter in her body, Killer Frost still appears to be present. She just has to find a way to get her back.
Harry is packing to return home to Earth 2 to visit his daughter Jesse while he’s still in his right mind. Cisco reminds that Wells’ intelligence isn’t his only thing of value being a caring father to Jesse is what made him special. Cisco vows that they will find a way to reverse things for Harry before Wells loses everything he ever learned. But in order to do that, they will need the help of Team Flash so Harry will have to tell them team the truth. “But not today,” is Harry’s response. Harry thanks Cisco.
Iris and Barry return to Dr. Finkel where Barry opens up about Ralph. Barry explains that he (Barry) was raised to see the good in people whereas Ralph believed the worst and used that to his advantage. “But he changed,” Barry says. He further explains that he never had a chance to tell Ralph how proud he was of him. Dr. Finkel asks Barry what he would tell Ralph if he could. “I feel responsible for what happened. He taught me more than I could ever teach him and for that I’ll always be grateful.”
At the DeVoe pocket dimension, Clifford continues to tell Marlize how human emotion is a folly that he hopes she sees now. Marlize answers that she sees things more clearly than she has in a long time.
