A ballerina on stage dancing when suddenly someone comes up behind her and puts a cord around her neck. The lights go black and you hear Lucifer (Tom Ellis) talking to Pierce (Tom Welling) about his mark being gone. When the scene comes up, Pierce is picking up a chair and sits down. Lucifer still going from no sleep and still angry that Pierce hurt Chloe (Lauren German) makes Pierce tell him why he would do something like this to Chloe. Pierce tells Lucifer that Chloe loves him, so he can bleed and now that she loves him too he can finally die. Pierce admits to Lucifer that he tried to stop her from saying the words, but it was too late. Lucifer tells him that it doesn’t matter how it happened, but tells him to say the word and he will help him die.

Chloe shows up to Ella’s (Aimee Garcia) lab wearing sunglasses and asks if she got the forensics reports back. Ella looks up and comments on Chloe’s sunglasses and tells her that she normally wears them when she’s super hungover or been crying. Chloe tells her what happened between her and Pierce and says it’s not the first time this has happened to her and things it’s something she’s doing. Ella goes to speak with Pierce about it, but Chloe stops her and asks her to not go. Ella goes anyway and yells at Pierce who decides he needs to win Chloe back. Lucifer meets Chloe at the crime scene and tells her that if she needs to talk he is there. They talk when Pierce shows up. Lucifer goes to talk to him and asks why he’s not having tea with Hitler and Pierce tells him that he doesn’t want to die anymore as he wants to win Chloe back. He goes to speak with Chloe and tells her she was right that he couldn’t handle it and that it will never happen again and tells her that he loves her. Chloe asks what he expects her to say to that as they are words and she can’t trust them anymore. Dan (Kevin Alejandro) informs Chloe and Lucifer of who the victim is and what she was doing at the theater. Ella tells them that she died about ten hours ago, which Lucifer tells them she’s been dead the same time as her relationship with Pierce, which is news to Dan. Chloe gets all three back on track of the case and asks Ella the cause of death. Ella shows them the shoes and tells them that she was strangled by a shoe lace. Ella hands Chloe her preliminary report so she can get the shoes back to the lab and Dan tells them that he’s going with her because it’s awkward. Before he leaves, he tells Lucifer that he’s on his side. Chloe tells Lucifer that none of this has anything to do with Pierce and that her relationship with him has nothing to do Lucifer. She then rips the paper from his hands causing him to bleed.

Lucifer shows up at Linda’s (Rachael Harris) office and startles when he announces he has good news. He tells her that Chloe still makes him bleed and that there’s hope for Chloe even if Pierce has lost his mark, which confuses Linda who is clearly lost on the events of the past ten to twelve hours. Lucifer takes it upon himself to catch her up and tells her that Pierce has a theory that Chloe’s affections causes Lucifer to be vulnerable and that now she cares for Pierce he is as well. This is why his mark is gone and he is mortal. Linda asks Lucifer how it makes him feel that Chloe cares for both Pierce and himself. Lucifer tells her that it makes him feel like he needs to tip the scales in his favor and show Chloe the grass is greener on his side. Linda asks what will happen if Chloe chooses him. He tells her that things can finally go back to the way things were before Pierce. When Lucifer leaves Linda says to herself that she should probably have stopped him from leaving this time.

Maze (Lesley-Ann Brandt) shows up at Pierce’s office asking what the text he sent to her means. He tells her that the plan is off, she asks why and that they were so close to getting Chloe to fall for him. He says he messed it up and that he broke up with her. He tells Maze he’s done and that he doesn’t want to use Chloe anymore. Maze says that her side of the plan to kill him and frame Lucifer doesn’t work without his side. He tells her it doesn’t matter because the plan is over, but as Maze leaves it is clear she isn’t through with it.

Lucifer shows up handing Chloe her favorite seasonal drink and lemon bars as Dan and Ella walk over and Dan picks up a lemon bar and eats it asking who made them. Ella informs him that Pierce did, and Dan picks up the trash can and spits it out, clearly still on Lucifer’s side. Ella tells them that the shoe laces were laced with a unique compound that ballerinas use. Lucifer and Chloe go to the theater to speak with Amber (Jessica Lee Keller) but are stopped by Virginia Watson (Gwendolyn Orloff) who is very stern and isn’t going to let them through until Miguel (Robert Roldan) intervenes and apologizes to them telling them that they are all still a little emotional. They talk to Amber who tells them that the killer must have taken them from her locker. She explains about the TV show she and the victim turned down. When they leave they find Chloe’s car covered in roses all from Pierce. Lucifer arrives at the penthouse where Amenadiel (D.B. Woodside) is waiting for him, asking what was so important he had to come. Lucifer tells him that it’s time for them to get rid of Pierce.

Amenadiel questions what Lucifer means and that they cannot kill him. Lucifer tells Amenadiel the point is for Chloe to pick Lucifer over Pierce to which Amenadiel agrees to help him. Lucifer tells him Amenadiel that they have to prove to Chloe that Pierce is not who he says he is which shouldn’t be hard telling his brother that Pierce was the one behind the whole Sinnerman ordeal. Amenadiel had no clue that Pierce was behind that and Lucifer tells him to run with it as he works on Chloe. Back at the station, Ella is showing a video of Myles Drunker (Greg Ellis) who is the host of the tv show Amber told them about when Lucifer asks if this was a case of those who can’t dance teach. Ella informs them that Myles was a dancer who lost his leg in a car accident and turned his tragedy into something that can inspire. They bring Myles in and inform him of Reina’s death. He tells them he was pressured into working with Reina. Lucifer uses his mojo to get Myles to admit that he wished the car crash never happened because it never crushed his leg and that he walks around with a prosthetic leg over his real one. He got a blackmail letter from someone who wasn’t Reina who threated to expose him.

Amenadiel arrives back to his hotel room to find Charlotte (Tricia Helfer) on his bed drinking and looking at a magazine. Amenadiel tells Charlotte that he needs his help on a legal matter about Pierce being involved with the Sinnerman. He says that Pierce has been living a double life for a long time and that he needs to get him out of the way for Lucifer to be with Chloe. Amenadiel shares the story of how he blessed a couple with a baby that turned out to be Chloe. Charlotte agrees to help him after Amenadiel tells her it may get her back in the graces of God. Chloe and Lucifer are walking out of the station talking about how the case and how until they get the report back they have nothing to do. Lucifer asks if should go for a drive and gives her keys to a car. Chloe is shocked when Lucifer tells her that it’s hers and she asks if he thinks it’s some kind of competition between him and Pierce which Lucifer says, “Yes. Anything Pierce can do I can do better.” Chloe gives him the keys back and tells him it’s not about stuff and walks off.

The next morning, Chloe is coming down the stairs to find Maze sitting on the couch. Maze tells her she’s there to make amends, so she can move back in telling Chloe that she can hurt Pierce back for her which Chloe tells her not yet. They talk about how Pierce is doing all these things to get her back. Maze says she can’t trust people, but Pierce was really hurting because she already went to his house to kick his butt before she realized she should’ve asked. As they talk, Trixie (Scarlett Estevez) comes out asking Chloe what breakfast is and when she sees Maze who tells her hello she turns and goes back into her room. Chloe tells Maze that it’s going to take some time as her phone rings and Dan tells her about William Sterling (Robert Curtis Brown), who was the guy trying to get Reina a job. Chloe goes to Robert’s house and is surprised when Lucifer opens the door. Lucifer tells her that Sterling isn’t there, but a maid with a key let him in and starts showing Chloe what was around the house when it’s revealed Sterling and Reina were having an affair. They tell Sterling they have to take the computer in for evidence. Amenadiel and Charlotte follow Pierce when she tells him that she cut some corners and that it doesn’t matter because they are working for God now. When Pierce goes to leave Charlotte walks up to a guy and tells him she must borrow his bike and follows Pierce. He leads her to a parking lot and holds her at gun point asking who she is and why she’s following him.

Charlotte tells him she let her better judgement get away from her and that she heard about him and Chloe and that she started to think about him and how someone can get into a dark place and all it takes is the right person to get him out. He tells her that he’s in love with Chloe and walks away. Dan, Ella, Chloe and Lucifer look at the video that was on the computer and they talk when Chloe’s phone starts going off and they all stand there until Lucifer goes to hit ignore and Chloe answers it and walks out and the other three walks to the glass window to hear what’s happening. Pierce asks Chloe to come to his house that night for dinner and they can talk. Lucifer asks her to meet him at his place in an hour, so they can talk about some things as well. When Chloe arrives at Lucifer’s place there is a romantic set up and he tells her this is all for her to make a decision about her future. Lucifer asks Chloe if what he did was better than anything Pierce could have done, which Chloe gets upset about and cries asking why he’s doing this to her and asking why he doesn’t want her with Pierce. She tells Lucifer he can’t have it both ways and goes to leave when Dan calls about a lead and sends her a picture to which she shows Lucifer. They both go back to theater where Miguel is revealed to be the one behind the video where Sterling shows up holding gun at Miguel asking why he had to take Reina away from him.

Chloe comes out telling Sterling to drop the gun where Lucifer steps in front of Miguel and tells him Sterling that Reina was in the way of being with the woman he loved who was Amber. Miguel and Amber admit they have feelings for each other and as it happened Chloe takes Sterling down and another cop arrests Miguel when Lucifer realizes he blew it with Chloe. Pierce leaves the house when Chloe didn’t show for dinner and drops the envelope on the table, when he’s gone Amenadiel and Charlotte break inside and look for it when they find that it’s empty. Charlotte tells Amenadiel they are not giving up and quitting when they are doing God’s work. Linda shows up at Lucifer’s place apologizing for struggling with what to do. Lucifer tells her that he’s just as bad as their killer. He tells Linda that he should have just told Chloe how he really feels about her. He tells Linda he can’t tell her and that Chloe doesn’t have a choice, which Linda tells him is an excuse and that Lucifer is doing the same as his father and by not telling Chloe is making her choice away. She tells Lucifer the one thing his father can’t control is what Lucifer does right now in this moment and asks Lucifer what he truly desires. He admits he wants Chloe to choose him and leaves to tell her, but is too late as he watches Chloe accept Pierce’s marriage proposal.
