The Flash – Harry and The Harrisons
By: Stacy Miller
Barry (Grant Gustin) wakes up to some noise in the other room. “Sorry babe, go back to sleep,” Iris (Candice Patton) calls out from the other room. Barry goes into the living room and finds his wife surrounded by file boxes. Iris explains that she couldn’t sleep because she was thinking about how DeVoe (Neil Sandilands) is attempting to control all the satellites and then started thinking about how as they are the only people who know what DeVoe is up to, the public is in danger. So, Iris has decided to write an article exposing DeVoe so the people can protect themselves. “I’m going to go take a shower and when I come back, I want you to tell me everything you know about DeVoe and that flying chair and how he uses it to body jump,” Iris tells Barry.
At Star Labs, Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) and Cisco (Carlos Valdes) explain to Team Flash that DeVoe plans to use the satellites to release dark matter into the cerebrum cortex of every man, woman and child on Earth. Barry thinks they need to shoot down DeVoe’s satellites, but Joe (Jesse L. Martin) reminds that with Kilgore’s powers that DeVoe possess, they’ll be unable to do that. Perhaps organic matter will work. Team Flash begin their research.
Meanwhile, Harry (Tom Cavanagh) continues to lament the loss of his intelligence. Cisco assures they will find a way to get it back as they have been consulting with everyone scientist they know. But Harry has another idea: How about they talk to him? More specifically, the smart him. “The Council of Wells,” Cisco realizes. But Herr Wells (also Cavanagh) doesn’t want to waste his highly superior intelligence talking to someone as dumb as Harry. Cisco can’t believe that Herr Wells is willing to turn his back on one of his own. After Herr Wells vanishes, Cisco suggests that they seek the assistance of a better council.
Joe is getting a migraine from doing so much research to find a way to shut down DeVoe’s satellites without technology. Caitlin gives him some ibuprofen. She talks about how much she misses Killer Frost and her determination to get her other half back. Caitlin meets with Team Flash and suggests Amunet Black’s (Katee Sackhoff) shards that would be immune to the Kilgore powers. Barry reminds that Amunet kidnapped Caitlin and tried to sell him into Meta Human slavery. “She ruined my bachelorette party,” Iris adds. Amunet Black is a criminal. But Caitlin says that they’ve worked with criminals before, including Killer Frost. The more important question Barry says is how do they know that Amunet will want to work with them? Caitlin thinks she will as she’s seen a side of Amunet that few people have.
Caitlin and The Flash go to Amunet’s former lair where Norvock (Mark Sweatman), the Meta Human with the snake that comes out of his eye socket, tells them that “The bitch is gone.”
Returning back to Star Labs, Team Flash learn that after Amunet’s Meta Human sale deal went south, she went into hiding. So how do they find her? Caitlin remembers that Amunet once told her that she used to be a flight attendant. They search the computer and find another photo of Amunet under the name Leslie JoCoy, which is Amunet’s real name.
Barry talks with Iris about her DeVoe article. He doesn’t think that telling the world about a Meta Human who likes to reboot people’s brains may not be the best idea. Besides, they’ve never shared information on what they are working on with the public before. He asks Iris to hold off on her article for a while. Iris agrees; it will be better to have a completed article for the team to read first.
Cisco introduces Harry to the newly emotional Council of Harrison, which includes other Harrison Wells’ they were kicked off The Council of Wells. Harry meets H. Wells, Sonny Wells and Harrison H.P. Wells (all played by Tom Cavanagh). Harry tells The Council of Harrison that he is losing his intelligence and needs their help to get his intelligence back so he can help his team. The Council of Harrison tell Harry that they will help him.
Joe thinks that Caitlin is not being honest with the team. He reasons that she wants to use Amunet to help her with her Killer Frost problem. Caitlin admits that she does believe that Amunet can help them, but can also help her get Killer Frost back as Amunet possess a piece of tech, a splicer that she used on her (Caitlin) last year to help her separate Killer Frost. They find Amunet who immediately throws weapons at The Flash. “I’m not here to fight,” The Flash tells Amunet.
Back at Star Labs, Amunet tells Barry that his disguise is not helping to conceal his identity very well; she knows that he is the speedster she tried to buy. Barry removes his The Flash mask. Amunet agrees to help Team Flash as DeVoe making the planet stupid is bad for business. But Amunet tells Team Flash that there’s a ‘but’ to her agreeing to help. She wants their help to get back her extra shards that were stolen from her storage facility. Caitlin pulls Amunet aside and tells her that she has an ulterior motive along with Amunet helping them with their DeVoe problem. Caitlin explains that Killer Frost has disappeared and she needs her help to get her back. Caitlin promises that if Amunet helps her get Killer Frost back then Killer Frost will do one favor for her. That’s a very tempting offer, but Amunet admits to Caitlin that the splicer was stolen from the warehouse along with her shards. Caitlin says that they will help Amunet get her property back.
The Council of Harrison suggests that if Harry takes a moment to think let DeVoe, he will understand him better. Their work done, The Council of Harrison leaves.
Amunet is furious when she realizes that it was Norvock who stole the shards and splicer. “That snake for brains will pay!” Amunet angrily vows, “If Novock thinks he can steal from me and get away with it, he has another thing coming.” Amunet thinks that Team Flash tipped Novock off. Joe gets Caitlin to admit to Team Flash about the splicer technology she needs to get Killer Frost back. And now that the splicer technology is gone, so is her only chance at getting Killer Frost back.
Harry apologizes to Cisco for wasting his time trying to get his intelligence back when he could have be working to get DeVoe by thinking like the mad professor.
Barry tells Iris that he still feels her article informing the people what DeVoe is doing is a bad way to go. As Iris wants them to be on the same page, she tells her husband that the final decision is Barry’s. But she reminds that The Flash has always been a beacon of hope to the people, so now it’s time for him to let the people be that for him.
Amunet admits to Caitlin that the splicer didn’t work on her; Caitlin’s Killer Frost powers are unlike anything she’s ever seen. Amunet realizes where Novock is hiding. Joe, Barry, Amunet and Caitlin go off to get Novock. While Joe and Caitlin take cover elsewhere, Novock uses his Meta Human snake venom on Barry. On communications, Iris tells Barry that there is no cure for Meta Human venom. “You’re going to have to phase through it before it reaches your heart,” Iris tells Barry. Amunet ends up getting the upper hand on Novock. But Barry and Caitlin encourage her not to kill him. “You’re better than this,” Caitlin reminds. Amunet decides not to kill Novock. “But the snake’s got to go,” Amunet says as she kills the snake from Novock’s eye socket. Amunet gives Caitlin one of her (Amunet) shards but warns Caitlin that she only has one shot at it; she has to throw it once and not miss.
Back at Star Labs, Caitlin apologizes to Team Flash for not telling them the full reason she wanted Amunet to help them. Although they have Amunet’s metal shrapnel shard bomb, they have to figure out a way to launch it. Harry realizes why DeVoe has been delaying launching his bomb. Barry tells Iris that she was right about her article. “And I do have faith in Central City,” Barry says. “So you do want me to publish my article?” Iris asks. “Without a doubt,” Barry assures.
At Jitters, Caitlin tells Joe that Amunet told her that the splicer won’t help get Killer Frost back; they key is inside Caitlin herself.
Iris has published her article and has already started getting hits from people who claim to have spotted DeVoe. It seems that Iris was right about the people of Central City and it also means that there is nowhere DeVoe can hide from them.
