Q) How would you best describe your sound?

A) Our sound can be best described as experimental electronic inspired rock.

Q) Who are your Top 3 musical influences?

A) We’re constantly inspired by different artists and things we discover but consistent favorites include Sonic Youth, Portishead and Lali Puna.

Q) How did the collaborations with Space Afrika, Shy One and Eyes of Others happen to create the Tableau Remixes?

A) They’re three artists/projects we really admire, so to have them on board was an honor. We just reached out and asked them and we were fortunate enough that they agreed. Hearing their interpretations of our songs was really special and their versions are masterpieces.

Q) What made you decide to remix the Tableau album?

A) We’ve always been into the ideas of experimentation, improvisation and randomness in art and dipped our toes in during the album recording process. We wanted to remix the record to be able to expand on this and create “tableaus” that used elements and pieces from tunes but in different orders and variations. We had such fun doing this and decided to take it even further by letting a random number generator on the internet choose our stems and what we were to work with.

Q) I also really love the Tableau album itself. There’s a very ethereal and raw feel to each track. Which song was your favorite to write and record for Tableau?

A) Thank you! I loved recording “Transmission” because the drums are so repetitive that I get lost each time I’m playing it. It’s one of those where the more I think about what I’m doing, the harder it is to be ‘pocket’ and loose with the groove of the song. We recorded this song a few different times, too. Once at the first studio we were at, which was small and boxy, we were super close and had all the lights off. When we went to record it the second time around, we were in a larger room, in an old church. It took us most of the day to get a take we were happy with because the vibes felt off… It was only when the sun went down and we pushed in really close that we realized this close physical proximity and low lighting was what we needed to get a good take.

Q) If you had the chance to work on more remixes from the Tableau album, which songs would you like to remix next?

A) It would be interesting to do an alternative version of “Honfleur Remembered.” This track is arguably one of the most electronic on the record. We’ve talked about making a more live version, perhaps a remix could come into play here too.

Q) In the upcoming months you have some UK dates. Are there any plans for additional live shows outside of the UK before you head to SXSW in March?

A) Probably not before we hit Texas, but for sure afterwards! In the meantime, we’re working on getting the live set as tight as possible. We’re very excited to share Tableau with the world!

Q) Which song or songs are still your favorites to perform live?

A) We all got asked this recently and all gave the same answer; “Beam/s.”

Q) What would you like to say to your fans and supporters of your music?

A) Thank you very much for supporting our passion and joining us on our constantly evolving journey of creativity. We can’t wait to play these songs with you in a shared space and let them expand and morph in your presence.
