Top 3 Moments – 5/12 – 5/17
By: Malasha Parker
Each week I’ll be picking the best drama, comedy and sci-fi/fantasy moments from the shows of the prior week. They may sometimes be equipped with some of your favorite ships or tear-jerking moments, so keep reading if you are still not over what happened on your favorite TV show this week!
Drama: Law And Order: SVU, “End Game” – A set up ending in a victory!
Rob Miller (Titus Welliver) averted prison again. Only after having to set Miller up by using Nikki (Callie Thorne) to place money into an account did Peter (Philip Winchester) finally get to take him to court. Nikki’s testimony was well played because of her telling the jurors about her being that scared that she felt she had no other choice. Even though everything was a set up, it felt so good to finally see them nail this man who had been doing so much harm to young girls. Seeing Miller’s smugness get wiped off of his face was so satisfying. Another huge victory to end a great season of SVU!
Comedy: Bless This Mess, “In Hot Water” – An unlikely pair share a touching moment.
Two unlikely characters sharing a tender moment was the highlight of this episode. Constance (Pam Grier) and Beau (David Koechner) discussed their memories of Morris while playing cards in a way that is reflective of real life. It was something that I wasn’t expecting after Constance walked in on him hiding out from scrapbooking. It was nice to see them have that talk and see some of the pain Constance had been holding in be released in a healthy way.
Sci-fi/Fantasy: The 100, “The Children of Gabriel” – Dinner made for rejection.
Clarke (Eliza Taylor) meets with the leaders of Sanctum for dinner to find out if they’ll allow her people to stay and learn how to survive. Unfortunately, they reject her request after Russell (JR Bourne) tells her a story about how his sister died when their dog was given a second chance after biting him. Aside from the fantastic performances given by Taylor, Bourne and Tattiawna Jones, I loved the look of this scene. As Clarke walks the steps to the room, you see and feel all the whimsical vibes in the air. The inside of the dining area is just as nice. The design of it made me think of Roger and Hammerstein’s Cinderella (1997). I have always loved the way that movie looked and this was a happy childhood memory to bring back from watching this scene.
