Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) I have listened to every genre my whole life from Drake to Florida Georgia Line to George Strait and Alan Jackson. I’m just a big music guy in general.

Q) Your new song is “Night Kickin’.” What kind of fan response have you gotten to it?

A) The song is a demo version that I wrote with my buddy Jody Stevens down in Nashville. People seem to like it so far. I’m going to record a pro quality version with some new changes some day. Maybe on my first album…

Q) What is it about the song that you think fans are connecting to?

A) I think they like the beat/groove of the song.

Q) What is your process like for writing music? Do you need music before you can write lyrics?

A) I usually write the lyrics and melody of  the vocals at the same time before the music. This way the writing process, as far as what you can do vocally and instrumentally, is unlimited. Writing the music first limits  you to have to fit your melody over top of what is already there.

Q) Where do you get the inspiration for your lyrics?

A) It just comes to me. It’s a feeling. Usually, I do better when I write outdoors in nature or with friends.

Q) How much of a hand do you have in the production of your music?

A) For my previous songs, I helped a lot with the production of my music. For my single “Summertime,” and the rest of my EP that’s coming soon, Los Angeles/Nashville producer (a/k/a TheRealJonSmith) produced the music and did a killer job!

Q) As you mentioned, you recently worked with Jonathan Smith on your “Summertime.” How did you keep your ideas counterbalanced?

A) We actually wrote that song together on Skype. I came to him with the idea of the chorus and we structured the rest of the song and verse melodies around that chorus idea. We write really well together. It just flows.

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) There are so many dope songwriters in Nashville that I would love to work with. But I honestly give  writing with anyone who wants to write with me a shot. Picking up on different vibes is an important part of the writing process so you never really know who your going to connect and work well with until you give it a go!

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) I love connecting with my fans on social media because, for me, right now as a brand new artist it has been the only way to connect with them until I start playing live more. I can’t wait to get the ball rolling with my new band in Nashville. I’m moving there this weekend!

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your music?

A) I love and fully appreciate every one of you. Thanks for believing in me and helping me reach my future goals, as well as goals I have already met. I couldn’t ask for me. You guys are why I do this. Thank you!
