Valentina Cherico – Believe in Yourself

Q) You grew up in a family of musicians. Was this always your ideal career or you wanted to do something else when you were young?

 

A) Yes, singing is something I have always wanted to pursue for as long as I can remember. I grew up listening to my family sing and play music professionally…I was EXTREMELY inspired at a very young age.

 

Q) Talk about the message behind your song “Believe in Yourself.”

 

A) The message behind my song “Believe In Yourself” is a message to EVERYONE to not let people’s negative words and actions tear you down. Always believe in your dreams and to work HARD every day. There will be a lot of bumps in the road, but if you Believe you can do it and YOU can achieve it.

 

Q) How does the music video play into the message behind it?

 

A) The music video starts out with a little girl Imagining her dreams to become a singer. She then grows up and works hard to reach those dreams …and, of course, achieves them. The music video tells the story of a young girl starting out with very humble beginnings and no support from her family. But, in the end, her dreams are achieved because she believed in herself and NEVER gave up.

 

Q) What is your favorite lyric from “Believe in Yourself?”

 

A) My favorite lyric from “Believe in Yourself” is “A girl like me can rise above the haters, the fakers.” Starting out as an independent artist, it’s hard to get people to take you seriously. But this lyric says, no matter what others say or think, I will work hard every day, and continue to make and pursue music or whatever path you choose.

 

Q) How did you find the strength and confidence to fight the people who were mean to you?

 

A) To be real with you, it took a while to not let others’ words affect me. But the times I was beat down were the times I grew stronger. If you let a person who wants bad for you tear you down, then they win. So, rising above it is the best thing you can do for yourself.

 

Q) What kind of fan response have you been receiving to this motivational and inspiring song?

 

A) I have gotten a lot of great responses with the song! It has been played all over the world, which is so exciting. There have been people that spoke with telling me how my song inspired them, but in their own personal way. It’s such a beautiful thing to see people so touched and inspired by something you created.

 

Q) What is your songwriting process? Do you need to have music before you can come up with lyrics?

 

A) My father and I write music together. He’ll add all the instruments and I will write the words and hook of the song.  So, usually he will write the music, then I will sit down and come up with a good hook line that tells the story of what I’m truly feeling. Sometimes I will write a thought of what I am feeling in the moment, and my dad will write the music and we both collaborate on the verses and format. So, it truly depends. It’ll vary from song to song!

 

Q) Will there be a full album or EP coming in the near future?

 

A) Yes, there will be an EP coming out one day! For now, I am just releasing singles, but I plan on putting all of my songs together into one EP.

 

Q) What artist or band would you love to collaborate with on a song?

 

A) I would love to collaborate with Christina Aguilera one day! Our voices are very similar, and I feel like our voices would blend very well together.

 

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who are fans and supporters of you and your music?

 

A) To the fans, I would like to thank you for all of the love and support you have shown me. I hope that my music continues to inspire you and always remember to believe in yourself…No matter the obstacles you’re faced with, continue to persevere and BELIEVE you can!
