WHY SHOULD I WATCH?

Money $hot: Loose Change is a brand-new comedy web series about the funny side of online sex work. The series shows a more behind the scenes account from a performers perspective and sheds a humorous light on the relationships they have with their clients.

In the first episode, “The Therapist,” Jacob (Cash Tilton) comes across what his husband is really doing during his free time. Spoiler! He isn’t writing a novel like he claims. He shares a secret affinity for leather with Andy (Michael Barth), a dominant sex worker he talks to three times a week via webcam. Jacob is forced to face the fact that there are problems in his marriage and, like his husband, opens up to Andy in hopes of getting to the source of their issues. Andy may not be a licensed therapist, but he’s correct in dubbing himself therapeutic. Donned in leather throughout their pseudo-session, Jacob can’t help but try to be a little more open-minded and it helps that Andy’s spot on with his advice.

It’s a great mix of genuine and ridiculous. Andy slapping down a whip in the middle of counseling Jacob on his very real relationship problems is a sight to see. I’m not sure if these characters will make an appearance in later episodes, but the actors were able to make them interesting in a short five-minute segment, so I take that as a sign of good things to come. The series also did a great job of poking a little fun at sex work and showing Jacob’s discomfort, without looking down on the profession in general.

The first episode of the series just dropped today and new episodes will be available every Wednesday through February 24th. The trailer teases more sex workers and a lot more sessions to come. Money $hot: Loose Change is something fresh and exciting. I’m not exaggerating when I say I’ve never seen anything quite like this before.
