Web Series Wednesday – Turf Valley

WHY SHOULD I WATCH?

Turf Valley is a brand-new comedy web series about three stay at home dads who get together to discuss life’s biggest issues in the six or seven minutes they have to spare. Described as “King of the Hill” meets Waiting for Godot, and funny with a touch of existential dread, Turf Valley definitely had me intrigued.

The show follows Jason (Phillip Chorba), Tyler (Vince Eisenson) and Howard (Jayson Ward Williams) as they tackle big questions while they hang around the school bus stop. The problems that come up may seem miniscule for those outside of suburban America, but for these three Amazon deliveries, lunch meat and the height of their neighbors are very important. The preview alone shows off how naturally comedic the creators are and I’m expecting big things for the remainder of the series. It’s a little bit ridiculous, but that’s exactly what I love about series like this one. They fully commit, don’t take themselves too seriously and the product is something that ends up being an easily enjoyable comfort show.

Currently the minds behind Turf Valley are raising money to film and fund the last few episodes of their first season. They’re planning to film seven episodes with hopes of creating multiple seasons in the future. There are some pretty interesting perks available for supporters and they start at only a couple bucks, definitely worth checking out.

Turf Valley is entertaining in its simplicity – three dads, one street and trivial conversations about first world problems that lead to something more. The creators summed up their series perfectly by comparing it to a dad lunch. It’s quick, it’s tasty and it’s weird, but it’s made with love. On one singular street corner, Turf Valley will charm you and leave you wanting more. If you’re a fan of comedies, want to support a great group of creatives or you’re a parent (especially a Dad) keep an eye on this web series.
