Web Series Wednesday – Twincidents

WHY SHOULD I WATCH?

If you are a fan of putting a new twist on an already well-known story then you should watch this web series. Twincidents is a modern gender bent retelling of William Shakespeare’s A Comedy of Errors with bisexual characters, lesbian characters and ace characters.

The Cliff Notes version of Shakespeare’s tale is about two different sets of identical brothers who are separated soon after birth and who through many errors end up meeting and finding each other. This web series’ story follows two sisters, Alex (a/k/a from Antipholus from A Comedy of Errors) and Drew Everett (a/k/a Dromio from A Comedy of Errors) who each a twin that has been adopted separately from their sibling.  Alex and Drew decide to set out on an adventure in order to find Alex’s identical twin.

Alex Seymour (played by Liv Chavez) and her adopted sister, Drew (played by Gwyneth Seward) begin the series setting out on the quest to find out more information about Alex’s birth family. Each of the beginning episodes rotates between the two different sets of twins, which is a very useful storytelling technique that allows the audience to get to know each twin’s separate life and personality.  Drew is adorable and has an infectious personality and loves telling terrible puns that are also highly entertaining.  Alex Seymour appears to be far more grounded and serious and identifies as bisexual. Her twin Alex Everett (also Liv Chavez) is dating Adriana Hill (played by Grace Brunson) while Drew Seymour identifies as asexual.

I would clear up more about the confusion, cases of mistaken identities and long-lost twins, but I would hate to ruin it for you. If you love Shakespeare but always wanted more diversity in his story telling, then this is certainly the web series for you.
