Even if “Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin” is a reboot of the original series “Pretty Little Liars,” the fans are starting to get excited about it. With the day of the premiere even closer, some details about these new characters are starting to come out. “Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin” is a very dark series that tells the story about a group of young girls who live in the town of Millwood (a place still shaken by a tragic event that happened twenty years ago) who are starting to get anonymous messages from someone referring to themselves as “A.” This person wants to make the girl pay for their parents’ sins as well as their own. Later in the series the girls discover that when their mothers were in high school, they were very close friends and that they went to a party were a girl, Angela Waters, killed herself. They begin to think that what happened in the past and what is happening to them are connected. With that in mind, let’s explore what we already know about the characters and the actresses who plays them.

Imogen Adams: Played by Bailee Madison

When we are first introduced to Imogen, she is fifteen years old and pregnant. She’s a very passionate girl who is quite confident and wise despite her young age. Because of her pregnancy she is not very well accepted at the school and from the clips that we can see on the HBO Max YouTube channel we view her in an argument with a girl, Karen, who makes very clear that Imogen is not welcomed at the school. In response to that Imogen tells all the people in the cafeteria that she’s going to be named “Spirit Queen” just like her mother.

As for the actress behind Imogen, Bailee Madison has stated that she is a very big fan of the original series and actually is a very close friends with Lucy Hale, who played Aria Montgomery in the original “Pretty Little Liars.” Bailee is known for her role of a young Snow White in “Once Upon a Time” and her work on the hit series “The Good Witch,” among many others.

Karen and Kelly Beasley: Played by Mallory Bechtel

Karen and Kelly Beasley are twins who are very different. While Karen is a very elegant person and always wears heels, Kelly is the opposite. And where Karen aspires to be the lead in a play and always be the centre of the attention, Kelly settles for simply being the number one supporter of her sister. They have also a very strong family dynamic and Kelly is going to make sure to do everything in her power to keep the peace between all of them. Additionally, Karen is a very ambitious person who will not tolerate any attempt to steal the spotlight from her and that’s the exact thing that will put her in conflict with the rest of the Liars. Kelly, on the other hand, lives in her sister’s shadow and feels like she will never be famous or wanted like Karen. However, she is not to be underestimated because even if she’s the sweeter of the two, she’s also a very smart and strong person.

For Mallory Bechtel, this is the first big role on a TV show, but she as a very strong theatre career. She’s also a very big fan of the original Pretty Little Liars books. As for the connection with the OG Liars actresses, when the first photos of her characters were posted online Mallory got a DM from Sasha Pieterse (the mean girl of the original series Alison DiLaurentis) telling her that the mean girl was so fun to play and to enjoy the experience.

Noa Olivar: Played by Maia Reficco

When we first meet Noa she has just come out of juvenile hall. She is an athlete, something that is reflected in her nature as she is seen to be very sincere and driven. She is also very funny and ironic and exceptionally caring. As the story goes on, she starts to develop a very strong connection and a sense of loyalty for the other girls. According to Maia Reficco, Noa is very similar to Emily Fields (Shay Mitchell) from the original show with both Noa and Emily being athletic.

Maia Reficco calls herself a huge “Pretty Little Liars” fan who, when she was a teen, was obsessed with Lucy Hale and her character Aria along with her storyline with Ezra (Ian Harding).

Minnie ‘Mouse’ Honrada: Played by Malia Pyles

As far as her name goes, Mouse tells anyone that her family named her this way for both being obsessed with Disney and wanting to keep her little forever. Other than this, Mouse is a very calculating and observant person who is always analysing every little thing. She’s also very dependent on the online word, someone who is a very quiet person that people tend to underestimate. Yet when Mouse is needed, she’s very loud about who she is while also being a very eccentric person. Because of her mothers, she hasn’t had a very strong group of friends (even if she always wanted that) and during the series she’ll find that in the other Liars.

As far as parallels with the OG Liars goes, Mouse is compared to Mona Vanderwaal (Janel Parrish). Like her character, Malia is also very young and “Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin” is her first big role.

Faran Bryant: Played by Zaria

Faran is a ballerina who trains hard every day to keep her form while also coming from a story of chronic pain, something that she’s treating like a secret as she is scared that if the ABT found out they will never accept her. At the beginning of the series Faran is not a very open and trusting person to the other girls, but later on with everything that happens she learns that the Liars are people who she can lean on.

Zaria was a very big fan of the Pretty Little Liars books, even before the original series came out, and she was very intrigued with the way they would tell the story of a strong friendship while also deals with the thriller atmosphere around the characters.

Zaria is known for her participation in the Oscar winner short film Two Distant Strangers.

Tabitha ‘Tabby’ Hayworth: Played by Chandler Kinney

Tabby is a very extroverted and fiery person who is not scared to speak her mind and fight for what she believes in. She is also a very smart and positive girl whose big aspiration is to become a film director. In fact, she always has a movie reference for everything. While directing is her biggest passion, she is also using it as a way to express herself and to process everything that happens.

Chandler used to watch the original series in middle school during lunch break with her friends. She is also previously known for her work on the series “Lethal Weapon” and from Disney films Z-O-M-B-I-E-S 2 and 3.

When asked about the show in one of many interviews, executive producers Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Lindsay Calhoon Bring share that the fans of the original “Pretty Little Liars” should pay attention to every little detail of the show because it is full of easter eggs. Those fans will have to wait until July 28th when the first three episodes of the show will drop on HBO Max in order to learn if and how many members of the original cast will make an appearance on this reboot.
