Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) I’d describe it as simple complex…dope grooves and songs…I focus on the songs giving you a vibe.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) It’s all over the place lol anyone from Earth, Wind and Fire, J Dilla, David Bowie, and Stereo Lab. It depends on the project I’m working on.

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “World Tour.”

A) “World Tour” started during the pandemic…Seeing how crazy the world was at the time I felt I need to make my own musical time capsule.

Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) I’d say the title song “World Tour” and “Black is Beautiful.”

Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) My writing process is simple. I just write about my real life and things that inspire me…I normally make the beat first and then write.

Q) How much of hand do you have in the production of your music?

A) I produce 90% of my music. My music has the have a feel, so I make the beats and write and mix

Q) The album World Tour is out now. What are some themes you explore?

A) I explore love, current events, coming out of the pandemic and family issues.

Q) What have fans been saying are some of their favorite tracks?

A) I’ve been seeing “World Tour,” “Lucky” and “Black is Beautiful.”

Q) Which song on the album holds a special significance for you and why?

A) My personal favorite is “Humble My Head.” It’s special to me because it talks about my family and some challenges we’ve faced.

Q) What track(s) on the album are you looking forward to performing live?

A) All of them… [laughs] I love to see what the fans react to.

Q) What do you hope listeners take away from exploring the album World Tour?

A) I’d like them to get a little more insight into my life. Hopefully, it’ll get them through some tough times.

Q) Where are some of your favorite places to perform and what makes those locations so significant to you?

A) London and Tokyo…the energy is unmatched…The love they show is unreal.

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) The Roots, Kendrick, J Cole…It’s too many to name. [laughs]

Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) P Funk… The grooves are unmatched…It has personality…the music takes you on a ride.

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) It’s like your direct line to your fans and the fans are everything.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) I appreciate all of y’all and thanks for supporting me and Slum Village over the years. I love y’all.
