It is finally the day of Jimmy (Chris Geere) and Gretchen’s (Aya Cash) wedding. Jimmy is making sure everything is perfect from the flowers, the drinks, etc.. Jimmy calls Vernon (Todd Robert Anderson) to come early because he is the best man now. Vernon is so excited until Edgar (Desmin Borges) drives up. He’s not there to apologize like Jimmy thought, but to give Jimmy the rings. Edgar waits at the venue in case Jimmy needs a getaway and decides not to marry Gretchen. Jimmy and Vernon see Gretchen take something from Sam (Brandon Mychal Smith).

Lindsay (Kether Donohue) and Paul (Allan McLeod) run into each other and talk about their phone conversation from the previous night. Paul notes that they are both her alone, but of course Lindsay has brought someone. Lindsay goes to see Gretchen who is wearing specialty wedding dress.

Jimmy runs into multiple people before heading to take wedding pictures with Vernon, who still hasn’t gotten rid of Edgar. Jimmy asks Sam what Gretchen got from him and after saying different things he actually confesses it was coke because Gretch was afraid she’d get too drunk. Jimmy says it is okay and that it is nothing.

Lindsay goes to Edgar to try and get him to leave. She says he is the stupid one and tore apart the group. She sheds a tear while getting out of the car. He says he was just trying to stop Jimmy from making a mistake.

Gretchen and Lindsay take their photos together and Gretchen asks where Edgar is and why Vernon is now the best man. Gretchen goes to see Edgar. She doesn’t let him speak and says that most girlfriends wouldn’t have put up with him for even two months, but she always tolerated him. She painfully says that neither her or Jimmy will ever respect him. She tells him to leave. He “leaves” and then turns right back around and comes back.

Paul pays Lindsay’s date, Wallace (Winston Story), $200 leave after discovering that there is no table for him (Paul). It is an old wedding joke that people play on the person who no one wants to sit with.

Gretchen’s mom (Rebecca Tilney) tells Jimmy the more he loves and cares for Gretchen she will resent him. He says he loves her. She gives him Gretchen’s grandmother’s ring to be the “something old.”

Jimmy finds Gretchen and sees her before the wedding.  Jimmy is angry when he finds out that the boys helped Gretchen write her vows. She says he is just looking for excuses. He just wants her to say that she wants to marry him. She isn’t budging and finally says it…and then Jimmy admits now he doesn’t know if he wants to marry her. He leaves the room in tears.

Jimmy is having a cigarette outside when Edgar comes up to him in a suit. He notes that no one told Jimmy he was coming. Clearly, this is the future now. Edgar apologizes and it is found he is now living in New York. Jimmy says that was Edgar said was very selfless, but Edgar admits it was for him to get away from Jimmy ultimately so it was not selfless at all. Jimmy says Edgar was right…meaning maybe he didn’t marry Gretchen? Until Gretchen appears, kisses him and then sees their daughter, Felicity (Enslee Moore). It seems this is Paul and Lindsay’s wedding. Their second one.

Referring back to previous scenes, of the house being sold and Gretchen at the bar, they’re selling the home to get a better one for the kids and she stayed the night at a hotel just because Jimmy had come at a different time.

Back in the present Gretchen runs after Jimmy. Jimmy confesses he doesn’t understand how someone is supposed to know they will love someone forever and through everything. He says it is all a lie and even he didn’t write his own vows. He wrote them as a character. Gretchen asks what Jimmy wants to do and he says he wants pancakes.

Lindsay is freaking out because she can’t find Gretchen or Jimmy. Lindsay distracts the crowd with singing a song she wrote for Gretchen.

Jimmy and Gretchen conclude that they are not getting married, but they are not breaking up. Jimmy says everyday they should make the choice to love each other, not a promise of marriage – because they choose to and want to. Gretchen says that the biggest mistake she made wasn’t the waste of money, but leaving behind all the gifts to which Jimmy says he already told Vernon to load up the car.

Back in the future everyone is dancing at Lindsay and Paul’s wedding. Paul with his son, Jimmy and Gretchen with their daughter. Becca (Janet Varney) is pregnant with a third kid. It then shows the progression and how they got there as we see pregnant Gretchen, her with the baby in bed, them building a crib, etc. Lindsay and Paul go on dates and he asks her to marry him at a picnic with his son. Vernon finally opens a truck…not a food truck, but like a minute clinic? It looks cool anyways. Edgar arrives in New York.

The last scene is the present and it is Jimmy and Gretchen waiting for their food. She asks if Jimmy knows there’s always the chance she will just drop off her keys at home and just go stand in front of a train. He says he knows. The series ends with them being happy, eating each other’s food and living in the moment.
