You’re The Worst – This Brief Fermata

Gretchen (Aya Cash) and Jimmy (Chris Geere) are planning where guests are going to sit at their wedding, including Paul (Allan McLeod) who they just can’t find a place for. Jimmy suggests they do a “fuck week” – one week where they get to fuck whoever they want as a last thing before their wedding.

Gretchen goes to work and tells Lindsay (Kether Donohue) the news and they decide to go “day-dicking” once Gretchen finishes her shift at work. As Gretchen is dealing with giving her pitch to Nock Nock (Lou Taylor Pucci), a new rapper she wants to promote, Jimmy has lipstick on her collar. Nock Nock thinks Gretchen can do better than what she is proposing.

Gretchen misses going out with Lindsay the first day, so she tells her they will go out the next night. Then, as Jimmy is coming home from being with another girl, Gretchen is still busy figuring out how to better her proposal for Nock Nock. Throughout all of this Edgar (Desmin Borges) is not okay with Jimmy going out and getting all these woman while Gretchen has been busy working. He keeps giving Gretchen water and food, but giving Jimmy dirty looks.

Finally, Gretchen gets Nock Nock to sign by offering him a collaboration with Sam (Brandon Mychal Smith) and his rap trio. After a long day at work, a tired Gretchen and Lindsay go out. As their potential men for the night are getting them drinks they decide not to sleep with them and go home. Jimmy puts another girl’s butt on his Instagram story. Gretchen goes home to expect him to be in bed, but he must still be with the girl.

We now get the tables turned as we see “fuck-week” from Jimmy’s side. Multiple girls approach him, but he turns them down and is faking having sex with other girls. Jimmy put lipstick on himself and then put it on his collar. He reveals to Edgar that “fuck-week” was an idea for Gretchen to “get back” at him for receiving oral the other night, without her ever finding out he cheated before “fuck-week.” So, thus he is not going to be participating in it at all, just pretending. Sam then tells Jimmy that Gretchen is lying to him about work and has slept with a ton of guys, but this isn’t true at all. Gretchen just told him about it to use it as an excuse for not texting him back. Jimmy decides he needs to sleep with at least one person if Gretchen has supposedly slept with a ton. He goes to a bar and takes two pills of what he thinks is ecstasy, but he just ends up throwing up all night.

Lindsay finally talks to Jimmy and realizes neither of them have been sleeping with anyone else. Jimmy admits that it was his own butt on his Instagram. Gretchen comes home from sleeping with someone else, finally, and she tells Jimmy that she realized she doesn’t want to be with anyone but Jimmy. She gets angry and upset that now they are going into their marriage “unequal, “but Jimmy admits his infidelity by getting oral the week before. Of course, Gretchen is pissed because “fuck-week” is fake and she slept with someone she shouldn’t have had to.
