The episode opens up on a heated make out session between Zoey (Jane Levy) and Max (Skylar Astin) who recently confirmed their feelings for each other. Zoey says it has been a nice distraction from thinking about her dad. Maggie (Mary Steenburgen) enters offering them snacks in case they “work up an appetite” and then goes downstairs to leave them be. Zoey suggests they have a date night the next evening at her apartment, so they can be more alone.

The next morning Emily’s (Alice Lee) sister Jenna (Jee Young Han) is in town to visit. Zoey mentions how last time she saw Jenna she danced into the cake at David (Andrew Leeds) and Emily’s wedding. Zoey then hears Emily sing “That Girl is Poison” by Bell Biv DeVoe about Jenna and tells Maggie to keep an eye on them as she heads in early to work.

Meanwhile, Max and Mo (Alex Newell) are discussing their partnership and how to approach their new business idea. Max wants them to sign some basic paperwork confirming their partnership, but Mo is nervous about it and thinks they don’t need to do any official paperwork. Max pushes back his date with Zoey for a few hours so he and Mo can settle things.

At home Maggie is still researching Mitch’s disease and if their has been any progress with it even after he passed. Emily texts her asking her for help with Jenna, so she can finally get some rest. Maggie distracts Jenna by showing her flowers in her greenhouse.

Zoey is trying to have an easy first day as she takes her boss’ place at SPRQ Point, but the new update has possibly caused the latest watches to start catching on fire. Her team doesn’t seem to be working on fixing things, but instead are trying to see who can wear the burning watch on their wrist the longest. She runs into some female coders from another floor in the elevator and they mention how not many people of the female gender do the jobs they do.

Zoey rushes home and grabs take out for her and Max. They can hear Mo playing opera loudly next door due to the fact they are a bit angry over the business meeting earlier. Zoey goes over there to talk to him and he says he is sorry for the noise but it is not Zoey’s problem. As she is leaving, Zoey hears Mo sing “Too Good at Goodbyes” by Sam Smith. Zoey tells Max what she heard and says Mo is in a really bad place, suggesting that asking him to sign paperwork really triggered him. Mo begins singing opera again, which interrupts Zoey and Max as they start getting ready to have sex. Max wants it to be special, so Zoey suggests they do something after she figures out what is going on with Mo.

The next day at work Simon (John Clarence Stewart) asks Zoey how soon they thing they will have a fix on the watch and Zoey thinks they will have it done soon. Just as she says that the fourth floor team starts singing “Baby Did a Bad Bad Thing” by Chris Issak led by Leif (Michael Thomas Grant). She says nevermind to Simon, as she has a bad feeling they are behind. Leif confesses to Zoey that he rushed the update and didn’t check for safety measures before releasing it because he wanted to be on schedule and show that he is a great manager. Zoey tells him to stop wasting time and get it done instead of worrying about proving himself.

Jenna confesses to Maggie that she feels it isn’t easy being Emily’s sister as she doesn’t feel like she does anything right. Maggie suggests she tries to give Emily what she needs right now, as she is constantly tired from being with Miles all day and David being at work.

Zoey asks Mo to do a makeover on her as a distraction to talk to him about what is going on with Max. Zoey tries to dig into why he has a problem with partnerships, but he kicks her out with her makeup half done. Zoey goes back with Max to Mo’s apartment to do some team building exercises between Max and Mo and in exchange for a head to toe makeover on Zoey.

Zoey comes into work to find that Leif and the team had pulled an all-nighter and fixed the watch, but he is still having trouble controlling the team who are more like frat boys then workers.

Max and Mo go through team building exercises where Max reveals he has never heard his father say that he is proud of him. Mo reveals that the reason he is scared to go into a partnership is because the last time he tried to start a business with someone he ended up hurting them. He thought he could do it all on his own, so he changed their ideas and ditched him during their first meaning. He hasn’t talked to that friend since and knows they didn’t deserve it. Mo doesn’t want that to happen with him and Max and Max promises he won’t let that happen.

Zoey calls Max over and they have the night alone together because her mom and Jenna went to babysit at David and Emily’s house. Max says he has been practicing with an open-minded therapist to not be in his head emotionally so that Zoey won’t hear him singing when they’re trying to have sex. He starts singing the classic “Take Me Out To The Ball Game,” but his emotional state starts interfering and he starts singing both that and “I’ll Make Love To You” by Boyz II Men. He is super frustrated, but Zoey tells him she doesn’t mind hearing his heart songs. The problem is he doesn’t like that she can essentially hear what he is thinking and he doesn’t know what she’s thinking. She tells him she is excited and nervous, but mostly excited. He then begins singing “A Moment Like This” by Kelly Clarkson and since she says she knows it they duet outloud. Then, they finally have sex.

The next morning Max and Zoey come downstairs to everyone noticing they have spent the night together. David wants to poke fun at Zoey, but Emily and Maggie tell him she doesn’t want them talking about her sex life. Max then mentions women are around to keep men in line. This gives Zoey an idea to move the female coders she met earlier to the fourth floor so that there are both men and women programmers keeping work balanced.

After Mo gives Zoey an intense makeover with a new outfit and fake nails, he and Max sign their contract.
