This week’s episode of “Dickinson” starts with Emily (Hailee Steinfield) having a case of writer’s block. It is later explained that it’s coming from giving one of her poems to Samuel Bowles (Finn Jones).

Back at the house Vinnie (Anna Baryshnikov) and Ship (Pico Alexander) are hooking up in her room, or at least she is trying to hook up with him but he does not seem to be into it. We also keep hearing of this mysterious woman called Lola Montez.
Outside Edward (Toby Huss) and Emily run into Austin (Adrian Enscoe) and Frederick Law Olmsted (Timothy Simons) who interestingly enough is the lead architect of the New York´s mega famous Central Park. Emily is somehow drawn to his creative process and decides to ditch her Dad so she can join him to explore the town.
This leaves Papa Dickinson with Austin to have a conversation that leads to him feeling “useless as a father.”  So, Austin decides to help and adopt the cousins. Wait until he tells Sue (Ella Hunt) that he made a decision to house people she was not aware of. So as predicted, when he tells Sue what he agreed to, she is not happy about it. He says “she owes him” to do this because she does not want to give birth.

We follow Mrs. Dickinson (Jane Krakowski)  this episode after her big O moment last week. So after he has been avoiding a conversation, Edward  falls on a hole. When she walks past him she jumps into the hole forcing him to talk. They talk about how she misses the passion in their relationship, which he excuses with “we have gotten old.” But Mrs. Dickinson is not buying it. So, she manages to get out of the hole and straight up leaves him there more time.

Meanwhile, Emily follows Frederick around town, taking in everything he says and does, marveling at his confidence.  They start talking about how Emily is feeling writer’s block and he says that the best thing to do when you do not know what to do is wait. But for how long? e says for as long as it takes. Frederick actually comes through with great advice. Then, she finally tells him the real problem is “he holds my life in his hands,” – referring to Sam. “It’s like I’m the daisy and he’s the sun and without the warmth of his approval, I can’t grow.” He replies, “Refuse to be the daisy, start being the sun.”  He then disappears leaving Emily to get lost in the Maze until a wild Sam appears to get her out of there.

Sam says he’s been looking for her all day and tells her that he´ll publish her poem. He refers to Emily as “my little daisy.” She tries to tell him about feeling lost, but the guy misses the point and dismisses what she’s feeling.
