Q) It was touched on a bit during the show, but how did you get your start working on yachts?

A) A friend approached me and suggested I consider yachting as a career path. I had a lot of experience that was good for a career on superyachts but just needed to make the jump! I completed my courses and applied for boats online. Shortly after, I had my first opportunity, and the rest is history.

Q) What made you want to be a part of “Below Deck Mediterranean?”

A) I had a long run on quite difficult boats and just hit a wall so I thought it would be a good opportunity to try something different.

Q) Had you been a fan of the show or familiar with it before joining the cast this year?

A) I had never watched it before appearing on this season! I had only ever seen highlight reels on social media.

Q) Were there though any certain parts of your life you deemed off limits to the camera?

A) No, and I spoke very openly about my own personal battles with mental health including a darker time in my life when I was suicidal. It was an opportunity for me to talk about something sincere and hopefully raise awareness and be able to build a platform moving forward to help those in need.

Q) You were quite vocal about your interest Malia. What made you feel comfortable enough to attempt to cross boss/employee lines and do you regret speaking up?

A) It’s really not that uncommon in the industry. I had an interest and if you don’t ask, you will never know.

Q) It was great seeing you work so well and really bond with the deck team. What did you enjoy most about working together?

A) Our deck team are very special people. All from different walks of life and all with their own strengths and weaknesses. As a team, we were a formidable force, and it was an absolute pleasure to work with them as team members and as friends.

Q) Lexi was quite volatile with most of the crew. Were you at all concerned about making her list?

A) I had no worries about the list. The most important thing was making sure that things didn’t escalate and become a bigger problem for the rest of the crew. Lexi [Wilson] had a lot going on at the time and she reacted. I don’t condone her actions or how she treated people (including myself), but I’m also not a person to actively put someone down. I’m there to support everyone. We all have moments of madness, especially when we are fighting battles in our own minds.

Q) Talk about working with Captain Sandy. What was that like?

A) Captain Sandy [Yawn] is brilliant. She did all that is expected of Captain and even if we didn’t always see eye to eye (we are human after all), we always worked as professionals and got the job done. I hold her in high regard for what she has achieved in her life, with her own battles and where she is now. It is extremely admirable.

Q) Who have you stayed in contact with and become friendly with from the show?

A) I’m in contact with everyone, except Lexi, purely because I don’t have any platform to make contact. But with everything happening, I do hope she is doing well.

Q) So far this season there have been a number of jaw dropping moments. What were some of your most memorable moments from filming “Below Deck Mediterranean?”

A) I couldn’t even tell you! It was a pretty wild season and every time I think “that’s it,” there’s something else happening that I either wasn’t aware of or had forgotten! I just really hope that as viewers continue watching this season, they can look past the negative drama and see the togetherness, support and genuine love we had for one another as a crew.

Q) You are pretty active on social media. Have you been enjoying the instant fan feedback you have been receiving to episodes?

A) I will always do my best to reply/respond to fans who are genuine. I’ll reply to kind messages or good questions and obviously I’m super appreciative of positive feedback! I’m just a regular person and I don’t want anyone to think I’m not approachable, especially for a sincere question or to ask for support. I am me. I’m not just a face on the screen and I don’t ever want to lose that.

Q) What do you want to be sure fans know about you and your time on Below Deck Mediterranean?”

A) All we do cannot be contained to a single episode, so as you see the drama and all the crazy and fun moments, I want viewers to also know that we are an extremely hardworking crew that is working all hours of the day.
