Q) Please tell us what is new this season on “Sistas” and with Danni.

A) Danni has learned her lesson when it comes to jumping with two feet into her friends’ business. She’s really moving with more discernment and focusing on herself and what ever you call what she has going on with Preston (Trinity Whiteside)!

Q) What continues to challenge you about your portrayal?

A) She does some off the wall stuff! So, keeping her grounded and real. Digging deeper into her history to make her make sense when on the surface she doesn’t.

Q) Was there anything you added to this character that wasn’t in his initial breakdown?

A) I would say every actor builds on the character they portray. A breakdown is just a blurb. No character that comes across as human will have the depth of a blurb. So, a lot of work is done as an actor. We create a whole life and universe using what we know from the script and letting our imagination take it from there, while staying true to how they are written.

Q) Were you looking forward to sharing scenes with someone(s) in particular this season?

A) Yes! K.J. [Simth] and I both realized we gotta have more scenes together. So, just the simple phone call in the Season 2 premiere was exciting for us.

Q) What are some episodes that standout as favorites or ones to be sure to watch for Season 2?

A) The ladies have way more sister circle time. I’m so excited for everyone to see them, especially how they work through each other’s problems as a team and hold each other accountable. It’s messy and real and, of course, funny.

Q) How do you shake off a long day of filming?

A) You don’t! [laughs] You run to wash your face, shower, brush your teeth and hit the sack! Most likely falling asleep with the script open.

Q) With long days on set, do the ladies spend much time together off set as they do on set?

A) After we wrap filming. It’s funny, while we work I feel like we see each other less than normal. It’s a lot to do in a short period of time so no time for shooting the breeze.

Q) Who would you love to see make a guest appearance on the series?

A) I’m dying to meet Danni’s mom or Preston’s!

Q) “Sistas” amazes as it is one of the few shows with so many people of color as series leads. Why is that so important for the 2020 television landscape?

A) All of life and creation is progressive. Gone are the days of a monolithic landscape only portraying the stories of the few. Everyone’s story is valid and worthy to be told. God has places something special and unique in each and every one of us and it’s about time Hollywood gets on board. The old is passing away, so those in power who have not already (kudos to those that have) should recognize the future is here and the spirit of equality will not rest until she is fully actualized.

Q) You are a part of social media. What kind of fan feedback do you receive to the episodes each week?

A) Honest feedback. Our audience loves Danni, but when she’s trippin’ they will let me know! I love it! They have welcomed us so warmly into their homes. It feels so good and I’m honored to have such dope and invested fans.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who are fans and supporters of you and the work you do?

A) My heart is so full every time I read an encouraging comment or occasionally when I check messages. Thank you! It is my true honor and pleasure to serve you as an entertainer. Keep the good vibes coming, expect great things from your truly and remember me in your prayers as I you. May God bless you and keep you! Forever yours, Mignon!
