Q) Vereena is secretly a Bruxa, a monstrous vampire who can take the form of a young woman with dark hair. What are some of the things you did to get into character?

A) I had so much fun preparing for this role. I spent quite a lot of time doing research and studying the movements of different animals and insects, so that I could look and move more like a creature. More animalistic and less human. I couldn’t have done it without the help of actor Paul Kasey. He trained with me the weeks before shooting, and he was with me on set to guide me and help me get into character. He also helped Kristofer Hivju with his character Nivellen. Before stepping in front of camera I focused on sharpening my senses and being on high alert, like an animal would.

Q) Were there certain aspects or layers of Vereena that you were most looking forward to portraying?

A) I really love working with characters that are not fully human and Vereena is a perfect example of this. There a so many different aspects of her, both physically and personality wise.

Because of what she is and what she does, we end up feeling conflicted about whether or not we should trust her. This makes it even more interesting to watch. It’s easy to understand why this short story is so loved by the fans. It’s quite heartbreaking really, but it’s also beautiful and touching. You can love someone for who they are, but when you do so also despite of what they are, that’s true love.

When I did the audition for this role, I really felt like something dawned on me. Like, “Ok, there she is. There’s Vereena.” It’s such a good feeling.

Kristofer Hivju portrayed his character Nivellen to perfection, in my opinion, and I think Nivellen and Vereena could’ve had their own spin off and people would’ve loved it! It’s such an amazing love story.

Q) Do you have a particular episode you were looking forward to for fans to see this season of “The Witcher?”

A) Episode 1, definitely! You’ll know why when you watch it.

Q) Going into the new season were you looking to share scenes with someone(s) in particular?

A) I enjoyed working with everyone really, but I was of course looking forward to doing my scenes with Henry [Cavill]. He’s just a really cool guy – down to earth and very professional. So, I had just had an amazing time working with him. Also, doing my scenes with Kristofer Hivju was soo much fun. His performance in the series made me both laugh and cry. I’d love to work with him again.

Q) What is something you’ve taken away from being on this show?

A) I know it sounds like a cliché, but the one thing that really struck me after working on “The Witcher” is the importance of meeting people with warmth and respect. Being on a huge filmset for the first time can be quite scary, but when you feel like you’re in an environment that’s safe and people are backing each other up; that’s when you’re able to deliver and do your best. This is what I felt on set of “The Witcher.” Like everybody involved; hair/makeup, stunts, the guys working with the logistics / transportation, props, lights…The list goes on. Every single person working on this was part of making it such an amazing experience. It’s truly inspiring watching people working their asses off, day and night, and still meeting you with a smile on their way out.

Q) What has it meant to you to be a part of such an iconic series as “The Witcher?”

A) I think for anyone who’s young and wanting to succeed as an actor, being seen and recognized for what you do is what you need the most. So, for me, getting a role in “The Witcher” is definitely the best thing that could’ve happened to me right now. It’s such a huge production, involving so many talented people. I feel really honored to be a part of it, and I really feel like I’ve learned a lot and grown as an actress.

Q) Aside from “The Witcher” are there any other projects you have been working on that you can tell us about?

A) Well, I was over in Ireland earlier this year shooting a film called The Silence of Mercy where I did a role of a young woman called Roslyn. It’s starring Annabelle Wallace and it’s directed by Floria Sigismondi. I’m really excited about this one and I know by looking at her previous work that it’s going to look amazing. Hopefully, I can reveal more about this project over Christmas!

Q) What would you like to say to viewers and fans of your work?

A) Just thank you, a million times! I think there’s no doubt that “The Witcher” fans are extremely dedicated, so it feels really good to have gotten this much positive feedback.
