Q) What is the message behind the song “Can’t Help Myself?”

A) The message behind the song “Can’t Help Myself” is the feeling of constantly wanting or wishing someone that you admired to be near you. When you become so drawn to someone and their presence, that you “can’t help yourself” but yearn for them to be around you.

Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) I think that the fans have been connecting with this song so far because it’s based on real emotions that so many people can relate to. It doesn’t necessarily imply wanting someone in a sexual way, but it can also mean you crave for someone to just be near you, you feel comfortable and satisfied whenever they are around you.

Q) You are a part of social media. What kind of feedback have you received from your fans?

A)So far so good! Luckily, I’ve had nothing but positive feedback from my fans so I truly feel blessed and just glad they have been reacting this way!

Q) You worked with ‘Til December on the song. How much of hand do you have in the production of your music?

A)Yes! Funny story, we actually never met in person until just recently last month. So, when I first recorded this song almost a year ago I had a beat already that I recorded to, but I sent it to him via email and told him “this is the vibe I’m leaning towards, but we need to add some flavor to the beat.” From there, ‘Til December was dope enough to allow me to have full on production opinions as far as what sounds needed to be added and taken out. I had him add more drums on certain parts to build them up, a bit more layers, etc. I’ve actually been learning to produce myself, so this was a great experience for me to not only learn from but it’s my first release of a song I not only wrote entirely on my own, but also helped with and had a say in the actual production and building of the song from the ground up!

Q) Will there be a full EP or album coming in the near future?

A)I most likely will drop a few more singles and then follow that by releasing an EP first! I feel that with an album I’d want to truly create a timeless work of art that flows throughout the whole album with super talented musicians and producers on it that will help bring everything more to life but will have a cohesive theme/message overall.

Q) What can fans expect from a live Alexa Ferr performance?

A)A great time with some live singing and dancing! I always grew up loving the stage and it’s where I feel most comfortable at so I love putting on full out performances with dancers, a band and, of course, me singing live while dancing too!

Q) Where are some of your favorite places to perform and what makes those locations so significant to you?

A)One of my favorite spots to perform at in LA is actually at this small venue called The Study in Hollywood. It has an old school library vibe and most of the times I have performed there, a lot of different artists did as well like poets, rappers, musicians, comedians, etc. I think the authentic and hungry vibe from each one of those performers brings out a new fire in everyone else because it reminds us why we do music in the first place, which is because we truly love it! Toronto will always be home to be though, so I always love performing back home!

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A)I would love to collaborate with Kendrick Lamar, Chris Brown, Brandy, J. Cole, Drake, Rihanna, Anderson.Paak and or Cardi B as of right now.

Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A)I honestly love listening to throwbacks. I love Christina Aguilera’s Stripped album, Beyonce’s Dangerously In Love and Brandy’s Two Eleven However, at the moment I’ve been playing Anderson.Paak’s new album Ventura on repeat!

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A)Thank you guys so much for supporting the music and giving great feedback! I appreciate all of you for sharing the links and re-posting everything on your social medias! More to come very soon!
