The episode focuses on the Bringston crew after the holiday break. Simone (Geffri Maya) concentrates on tennis now that she’s in the top six; Thea (Camille Hyde) is still reeling from her rotator cuff injury while beefing with Simone;  Damon (Peyton Alex Smith) must make a difficult decision he hasn’t told anyone about; and things are rocky between Cam (Mitchell Edwards) and Keisha (Netta Walker).

Simone is on cloud nine showing she’s gotten much better after making the top six. Her assistant coach however isn’t so impressed. Coach does not think Simone should be celebrating wining a practice match and even points out a few of Simone’s flaws. Meanwhile, Thea is trying to her hardest to get back on the court to get her spot back. Simone sees Thea struggling, asks if she needs any help. Thea responds with a rude remark. Thea insists she will be back on top again after she’s healed. As Simone walks away, Thea throws a tennis ball at her. Simone challenges Thea to a match. When Simone and Thea battle on the court, Thea injures her shoulder. Coach sees the match and berates Simone and Thea. Spencer visits Bringston and gives Simone advice to bet on herself and keep moving forward playing tennis.

During brunch at Amara’s penthouse, Damon briefly talks to Simone. She isn’t thrilled that Thea is with him. He knows about their spat in finale and hopes they get along. Thea sees Damon talking to Simone, causing tension in the room. When news leaks that Damon wants to transfer, Thea is hurt and embarrassed that she wasn’t informed and had to find out like everyone else. He has mixed feelings on his decision but later in the episode, Amara (Kelly Jenrette) gives Damon 48 hours to decide.

While looking for Coach Reynolds, Damon unintentionally runs into Jordan (Michael Evans Behling). Jordan asks Damon where Spencer is and Damon responds he hasn’t seen him. Jordan then confronts Damon over his breakup with Simone. Jordan exchanges words with. He says out of respect for Simone, he kept quiet about their friendship. Then, he goes onto say Damon only wants Simone when she’s not available and how he quickly got with Thea. Damon and Jordan go back and forth exchanging words and it leads to Jordan punching Damon. Jordan and Damon are in a full fledged fight, throwing punches until the fight is eventually broken up by Spencer and Damon’s father. Simone see’s the fight but he’s confused over the event that just took place.

During a walk Simone and Damon chat about the fight. Simone insists they’ve all moved on from it. Damon asks Simone to buy more time with Amara before making his decision.

After loosing his scholarship, Cam’s life has drastically changed. He is now a delivery driver. When Spencer and Jordan see him, he informs them not to tell Keisha. Later, in an awkward convo, Keisha wants to spend time with Cam but he tells her they need to reschedule. Keisha feels as if she and Cam aren’t on the same page in their relationship. She turns to Spencer who sets up a romantic date for them. Cam apologizes, and the two officially make up.

Jordan and Simone run into each other and finally talk about their breakup. While they are talking, Simone rants to Jordan about her issue with the assistant coach’s remarks about her making top six. Jordan gives Simone advice and she gives him her blessing to be happy. They agree to be friends.

It is New Years Eve and Simone is alone when a mysterious man sits beside her. He flirts with her mentioning she has no one to kiss. The countdown begins as the camera focuses on Amara reading Damon’s text that he is indeed leaving Bringston. We see Damon and Thea kissing, Cam and Keisha kissing, JR (Sylvester Powell) and Nate (Rhoyle Ivy King) are celebrating with alcohol and Simone making out with her mystery man. In addition, Coach Marcus (Cory Hardrict) pays Amara a visit and declares he’s back!
