ABC’s “American Idol” finished up its audition stage. Before we discuss the start of Hollywood Week, let’s talk about these final auditions. I need to mention that after Hollywood Week and The Final Judgement at the end of this month, “American Idol” will be taking a break due to the COVID-19 outbreak so the live shows are yet to be scheduled. We here at Starry Constellation Magazine and myself, personally, would like to wish continued safety for the judges, contestants and crew members.

Let’s get to the final auditions!

Robert Taylor- 27; Donaldsonville, LA; “Bruises” By Lewis Capaldi; He has a great voice and Katy seems to be a big fan. He’s GOING TO HOLLYWOOD

Grace Leer- 27; Nashville, TN; “Croweded Table” by the Highwomen/ “Crazy” by Patsy Cline. Grace just so happened to be on “American Juniors” the one season spin-off after the first season blew up. She has a sweet reunion with Ryan and when she’s in front of the judges she wows them with her voice and her throwback to singers like Patsy and LeAnn Rimes. She’s GOING TO HOLLYWOOD!

Franklin Boone- 27;Durham, NC ; “Dreams” by Fleetwood Mac; This music teacher performs a cover that is so original and captivating. I can only sense that he could possibly go real far in this competition and the judges agree with me because he’s GOING TO HOLLYWOOD!

Roselyn Carter- 26; Watts, CA ; “Mother Bowed” by The Pilgram Travlers/ “So High” by John Legend; Roselyn is a community activist who has lost friends and family to gang violence and you can tell in her voice and performance. She’s GOING TO HOLLYWOOD!

Megan Knight- 21; Williamstown, NJ; “When Your Mind’s Made Up” by Glen Hansard; The judges wanted some fresh air so they went out to a boat and took Megan along and had her audition there. The judges think she’s good but she needs some coaching. It doesn’t matter though because she’s GOING TO HOLLYWOOD!

Gilberto-  23; Orlando, FL ; “Proud Mary” by Tina Turner; In my opinion this was the best audition of the night. Not only is Gilberto a good singer but he’s a true performer. He is extra but in all the best ways! The judges think he’s a little too theatrical and Katy thinks he needs to shave his chest and trim up because he’s GOING TO HOLLYWOOD!

Alina Jester- 18; Tampa, FL; “Who’s Lovin’ You” by The Miracles; This singer brought her emotional support french bulldog in to audition with her. She has very nice voices and the judges want to give her a shot so she’s GOING TO HOLLYWOOD!

Jahzan- 18; Kingston, Jamaica; “Rockabye” by Clean Bandit/ “Warrior” by Demi Lavato; This singer has recently fled to the US from Jamaica due to personal issues and has brought her mother in for emotional support. Her voice is surprisingly deep and Katy compares her voice to a mixture of Cher, Toni Braxton and Shakira. Katy thinks she needs to dial down a little bit but other than that the judges want to give her a chance so she’s GOING TO HOLLYWOOD!

Jordan Moyes- 25; Provo, UT; “I’m On Fire” by Bruce Springsteen; This Special Ed instructor has all the judges with goosebumps and just in love with his voice and vibe. He’s GOING TO HOLLYWOOD!

Demi Rae- 26; San Jose, Cali; “Mad at You” by Noah Cyrus; This singer brought her childhood journal into the room and revealed to the judges that it has been her lifelong dream to compete on the show and now she has her shot. She is a big fan of Katy and after her audition Katy feels the love. Katy gives her a pep talk to help her with her insecurities and the judges let her know that she is GOING TO HOLLYWOOD!

Nash “Mullet Man”- 18; Newman Lake, WA; “Should Have Been A Cowboy” by Toby Keith; Nash almost got trampled by security because of the way he approached Luke. He’s a good singer, but Luke thinks he’s too nasal in his singing so he’s not moving on.

Makayla Brownlee- 17; Wellington, KS; “Travelin’ Soldier” by the Dixie Chicks; This country teen likes to catch snakes in her spare time, but she also loves singing and performing at her town’s wheat festivals. Her voice has definitely been influenced by 90’s female country. The judges think she’s pretty fantastic. She’s GOING TO HOLLYWOOD!

Amber Fiedler– 23; Coeur D’alene, ID; “Trust in Me” by Etta James; This young woman is pregnant and due quickly after the audition. She has made the very hard decision to give the baby up for adoption to a loving family. Her voice is amazing and her story is inspiring and is de-stigmatizing adoption. Hopefully everything works out because she’s GOING TO HOLLYWOOD!
