Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) It’s pretty much 90s guitars, 00s pop vocals and 10s hip hop beats. My dad listened to a lot of rock and grunge, so that’s where the guitars come in. I grew up with MTV (pop vocals) and I spent most of my early twenties at trap parties.

Q) What inspired your shift from model to musician?

A) Well, I actually started with music. Played in my first band when I was thirteen years old. Modeling came when I was eighteen years old. I always knew I was going to go back to music though.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) It’s hard to say because there are so many. I spend my days listening to so many different genres and can always find something that appeals to me. I’ll jump from a Rammstein Track to a Travis Scott track and then to Bon Iver, Nils Frahm, Kid Cudi, Phoebe Bridgers and so on and so forth. It’s madness

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “Medusa.”

A) It’s one of those that didn’t understand until much later. At the time I was cutting ties with some toxic relationship and I wasn’t thinking when I wrote. I can’t even really remember writing it. It kind of came out like a splurge of what was going on without knowing what was going on. I always found the story of Medusa compelling as the myth says that if you looked at her you would turn to stone. People still did it?! It’s the same with toxic relationships. You stay in them nonetheless.

Q) The song has reached over 88K views! What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) I guess a lot of people know the feeling of being in these toxic relationships. And the song brings so many genres that there’s maybe something in there for a large spectrum of people.

Q) How does the video for the track play into the message behind it?

A) The video wasn’t planned. It wasn’t until maybe five days before it released that I just took a VHS and went to a friend’s flat and set it up and just hung around for four hours. Same as writing the song, I didn’t realize until after it released that I was basically filming the mood I was in whilst dealing with the toxic relationships. Had the song on repeat and it brought out this anxiety and despair.

Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) Yeah, the music comes first and whilst producing it words start coming to me.

They kind of determine the vocal melody which is most important to me and then once there’s a feeling or a certain word that comes up, I can build on that and write the story. I write really quick which I enjoy because I get this beautiful feeling of anxiety and just need to get the story out of my system.

Q) How much of a hand do you have in the production of your music?

A) My producer Markus is basically my producer, engineer, therapist, friend and critic. I normally bring ideas which are guitar riffs, chord progressions and he chooses which ones to go with and starts building the drums around it.

It’s great teamwork. I feel like I bring the foundation and structure and he brings the texture and sprinkles the magic on it. I’m very hands on and pretty much know exactly what it should sound like.

Q) How do you shake off a long day in the studio?

A) There’s no shaking off after because I have basically spent the whole day doing what I love in an environment I love. So, I go to bed like the happiest kid in the world.

Q) Will there be a full album or EP coming in the near future?

A) There’s an album on the way. We basically worked for over two years and wrote so much material that now it’s just a matter of putting it out. Kind of backwards cause everything is already done.

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) This is one of the questions I would like to give a thousand answers too, but off the top of my head Andre 3000, James Blake, Bon Iver, Phoebe Bridgers, 070 shake, Kevin Abstract and Sampha.

Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) I’m a bit late in the Phoebe Bridgers game, but I am now officially obsessed. Punisher has been on heavy, heavy rotation for weeks now.

And the 070 shake (modus vivendi) album. They are just absolutely mind blowing and bring so many genres whilst staying true to their vision.

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) The visuals to my music are equally as important, so it’s a great platform to convey the full message. But most of all it’s just great to say thank you to everyone that supports me.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) Just a huge thanks for listening to what comes out of my mind. There’s a lot more to come so sit tight!
