Q) What are the recent projects you are working on?

A) Right now, a super fun project I worked on called “Pen15” is on Hulu. I also have a limited series called “Hot Zone” coming out in May on NatGeo, Julianna Margulies is the lead in that and I play her daughter. I did a movie not too long ago with Alicia Silverstone, Rob Corddry and Michaela Watkins called Judy Small. Hopefully, I’ll have news to share about that soon!

Q) Please tell us the premise for the film Light Of My Life.

A) The movie is really a character driven story about a father and daughter. It’s an age-old story of a child exploring their limits and growing up and a parent’s struggle between letting them grow and maybe make mistakes, while wanting to protect them and keep them safe. However, in this world, the stakes are extremely high because a pandemic has killed almost all of the world’s females.

Q What made you want to be a part of the movie?

A) Casey Affleck! He’s a genius. It was also an incredible role for an actress my age. It was a complex, deep character with an amazing story and I was so lucky to get to play this role!

Q) How was Rag originally described to you?

A) She was originally described to me as really aggravated and annoyed by Dad, but also timid at times. Pretty much every teenager. [smiles] She is a book worm. She craves independence, but loves Dad.

Q) Were you a fan of camping before you started working on the movie?

A) I’m originally from Canada, so I’ve camped! And since I was a baby my family had a cabin/beach house. I spent my summers at the lake – swimming, campfires, roasting marshmallows, late night scary stories… those were my summers.

Q) Talk about working with Casey Affleck as a director and costar.

A) Casey is pretty much a dream to work with. He is such a kind person. He expected the best of me as a director, gave me the freedom to try different things and cared very much for my experience as an actress in this. As a costar…

Well, of course he is a brilliant actor. It was so easy to develop a bond with him. He puts himself so completely into the role that it was easy for me to do the same. I learned so much from watching him and working with him and I hope I get the chance to work with him again in my career.

Q) What were some of your most memorable from filming Light of My Life.

A) I loved working with the stunt crew! I did some really fun things. I got to feed a llama. Also, the incredible surroundings were just so, so beautiful.

Q) What did you do to shake off a long day of filming?

A After preparing for the next day of filming I would cuddle up in bed and watch “The Office,” my favorite show.

Q) What do you think it is about the movie that will make it stand out to viewers?

A) It has universal, powerful themes about family, exploring who you are, growing up and letting go that will resonate with a lot of people both young and old.  I also think Adam Arkapaw’s cinematography is absolutely gorgeous and people will the sheer beauty of the film.
