What’s a girl to do when a handsome villain offers her a job as his assistant? If you’re Evie Sage, you accept and find yourself in a much different life than you expected. Assistant to the Villain by Heather Nicole Maehrer immerses the reader in a medieval setting that reminds audiences that the powers of love and loyalty are stronger than our need to hang on to the troubles of our past.

Evie has recently been “let go” from her job working for a blacksmith. Her mother has run off, her father is ill, and she has a little sister to take care of. When she stumbles upon “The Villain” in the forest, she does not expect to be given a job offer. Desperately in need of work in order to help look after her family, she accepts and finds herself lending the dastardly yet incredible handsome man a hand. Along the way she befriends a frog, Tatianna the healer and Blade the dragon tamer while riling the feathers of Office Manager Rebecca. As charming as Evie is to her coworkers, The Villain struggles against his bad boy persona to keep himself from falling for his unique yet annoying new employee. There is just something about her that he seems drawn to…

Assistant to the Villain is a tale that mixes mayhem and medieval adventures with a love story (don’t tell Trystan). And as hard as the villain may fight against his feelings is how hard you’ll fall for Evie yourself.
