Q) How would you describe your sound to others?

A) Hopefully, people hear it and recognize it as mine. No two sets of references are the same, so I like to let the sound do the talking.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) Lately I’ve been listening to a ton of JJ Cale and the Beach Boys. Tyler the Creator’s last record is incredible. Bill Callahan and Lee Scratch Perry. John Prine, Jonathan Richman, Dylan and Fela and Haruomi Hosono. Recently came upon Margo Guryan, criminally underappreciated amazing songwriter; Take A Picture has been on repeat.

Q) What is your thought process when writing songs?

A) If anything, I’ve been trying to think less.

Q) What are some themes you explore on your new EP?

A) The demo/album duality.

Q) What made you decide to release “Talk On Tuesday” for your first single from your new EP?

A) No reason.

Q) How would you say “Talk On Tuesday” sets the vibe for your new EP?

A) They’re all very synthy demos — “Tuesday” has nothing but synth.

Q) How is everything happening in the world right now affecting your writing?

A) I’ll return to this question in a few months, I think.

Q) Your single art and style in general are pretty unique. What inspires that?

A) Well, I studied sculpture and film in college, so my references, even musically, are really visually focused. Demy, Varda, PTA, Kurosawa; Judd, Calder, Frankenthaler, Agnes Martin and Giotto. Ah, and the record covers from 50s-60s Nashville.

Q) What song are you’re most excited about on the EP?

A) Heck, all of ‘em!

Q) What do you want your listeners to take away from your music?

A) It’d be my wish that they take away whatever they need.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who are fans and supporters of you and your music?

A) Thank you.
