Q) How would you describe your sound?

Tyler: First off, thank you for having us! We’re an indie-alternative rock band. The foundation bones and core of the band is gritty guitar progressions and punch you in the face drums which we dress up with some modern synths and production.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

Hans: Mine are all over the place. I love Queen, J. Cole and Franz Liszt. Those are definitely my favorite artists. I feel they all made a unique impact in their genre and created something that was distinct. They really made a lane for themselves.

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “Lovesick.”

Tyler: Sure thing. My parents are a classic romance story: locked eyes at a party, love at first sight, married a month later and still together thirty-five years later. This song is about the feeling those stories inspire me and I can’t wait to find a love like that.

Q) Tyler, for your parents it was love at first sight. Is this something you believe in, personally?

Tyler: Absolutely. I personally have never used any dating app – not that I don’t think they work, just that I can’t help but thinking the love of my life is right around the corner; at a grocery store or sipping coffee reading my favorite book…I dunno. I can’t help but being romantic being raised looking at my folks.

Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

Tyler: I think the fans will appreciate the honesty, energy and hopefulness to it, especially in these current times. Something to hold on to, ya know?

Q) You also are set to release the song “Pulling Away.” What were some challenges you faced when creating the track?

Hans: I wanted to try and make something different than our previous tracks. I wanted to move more away from the traditional sound of a piano and experiment more with synths and sound manipulation.

Q) What makes this the perfect single for heading into Fall?

Tyler: The fall vibes baby!!!! For me this is the ultimate brooding time. Something about the air and leaves makes me nostalgic. I never really thought of this before, but it’s really weird how music can sound like a season – or a color. Like isn’t the number seven yellow to you? I don’t know. Nevermind.

Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

Tyler: We collaborate a lot; but as the primary songwriter I usually need music first. There are notable exceptions where I take a concept or poem and adapt it, but almost always I’ll play a progression on guitar or piano or some other random instrument and carve out whatever I’m feeling at that moment.

Q) How much of hand do you have in the production of your music?

Tyler: As an “indie” artist (a/k/a we’re broke and do it in our bedroom), we do everything ourselves! Hans and I do the production.

Q) With concerts currently on hold, what do you miss most about being on stage?

Tyler: Everything. To me, aside from writing the performing is my favorite part. The electricity of the stage, meeting the fans, hearing my stupid words sang back to me, drinking with my friends afterward…I dunno; for me that is what life is all about. So, yeah, everything.

Q) Are there any plans for any live streaming events to help promote your new music?

Tyler: Funny you’d ask. [winks] We have a live stream show to close out the year on December 19th at The Bowery Electric. We’ve done a lot of IG lives, but this one will be really cool because we can actually do it fully electric and mixed. You definitely don’t wanna miss this!

Q) Will there be a full album or EP coming in the near future?

Tyler: Not at the moment. We’re focusing on putting out the best of the best of the demos we have. We have more than enough to make like four albums though, so maybe sometime soon.

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

Hans: A dream collab of mine would be with St. Vincent or Tennis. I like the diversity of sounds and style they work with and feel like it would be challenging but rewarding to work with artists like that.

Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

Hans: I always try to listen to different music. I have been listening to Men I Trust, Baby Keem and Billy Joel. Men I Trust have a very chill and soulful sound. Baby Keem has a nice twist on rap which is refreshing. Billy Joel is just iconic; his songwriting amazes me. I have been listening to “Moving Out” and “New York State of Mind” nonstop. His song structure and sense of rhythm is superb.

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

Tyler: It makes things so personal, which I absolutely love. Getting to share our process and talk about what the music means to people is awesome. I don’t like the whole artist mystique that happens sometimes, with this stupid divide between creator and the ones bumping the tunes. All our followers are the homies – we can hang anytime.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) THANK YOU, WE LOVE YOU, WE AIN’T DONE YET.
