At a company party, Evan Myers (Gabriel Olds) and Scarlett Myers (Elizabeth Mitchell) are about to take Thomas Myers (Peyton Lusk) home before security comes in and demands that everyone hand over their phones. Patterson (Ashley Johnson) tells the team about a security breach at a research facility and Rich Dotcom (Ennis Esmer) explains that the company builds robotic spacecraft.

Patterson explains that a series of numbers on one a tattoo link to a secret government project and Edgar Reade (Rob Brown) promises to get security clearance. She shows them a Bluetooth transmitter found in a pipe that connects to an unaccounted hard drive.  Rich pulls up a list of people in the building, and Patterson explains that they’re going through all of the confiscated phones.

In a Philadelphia diner, Kurt Weller (Sullivan Stapleton) asks Jane Doe (Jaimie Alexander) if she really didn’t know about his mother’s involvement with Sandstorm and Jane assures him that she had no idea. Jane comments that he doesn’t talk much about his mother, and Weller tells her she’s an addict. Weller declares that this is a bad idea, and Jane reminds him that he would tell her not to run from her problems. Linda Weller (Lisa Emery) approaches them and Weller says hello to her.

Patterson is horrified to see that the company weaponized a satellite, equipping it with missiles. Reade asks if there’s a particular target, but Patterson doesn’t know. Rich finds that the stolen data includes the launch codes for the missiles, and Patterson declares there’s no way to stop the impending attack.

Weller shows Linda Shepherd’s picture and Linda recognizes her immediately. Jane asks for more information about their relationship and Linda explains that they met in a bar and were friends ever since. Weller asks if that’s the story she’s going to go with, but Linda swears she’s telling the truth. He tells her Shepherd was a terrorist, but Linda is confused.

Jane explains that Shepherd was talking to her to gain information on Weller, and Weller shows her the footage of her entering the Sandstorm facility. Linda explains that Shepherd’s lawyer sent her an envelope with a key to the facility and instructions to pick up money left to her in Shepherd’s will.

Jane concludes that Shepherd wanted her and Linda to meet and Linda tenses upon seeing Jason (Nathan Wallace) and two other men approach them. Weller flashes his badge and Jason says that Linda is the real criminal, promising to come back. Once they leave, Weller asks Linda what she’s gotten into this time. Patterson shows Rich that none of the confiscated phones have the stolen files on them, and briefs Weller on what he missed. Weller suggests that the thief could have hidden the files on a flash drive, and Reade urges Weller to return to Linda.

Weller demands to know what Jason is talking about, and Jane assures Linda they’re trying to help her. Linda explains that she became addicted to oxycontin, and Weller concludes Jason is her dealer. She explains that Jason made her make a delivery to help pay off her debts, and Weller accuses her of being a drug mule. Linda admits she couldn’t go through with it and confirms that she owes Jason $100,000. Linda asks to go to the bathroom and someone to escort her. Linda tells him that she doesn’t need a chaperone and Weller rants that Linda has caused him a lot of pain. Jane tells him he has every right to be angry but reminds him that she is in danger and they can’t turn their backs on family.

Patterson reports they haven’t found the stolen files while Rich tells her they’ve found ten employees that swiped their keycards in the hour the files were stolen. Rich informs that an inmate-tracking app has reported the release of Kathy Gustafson (Heather Burns). Patterson points out that Kathy has five years left on her sentence, and Rich tells her she got out early on parole. He questions if she used them as bargaining chips, explaining that he ratted out everyone when he was in prison. Patterson asks if he feels bad that she was the only one who went to prison, but Rich reminds her she put shock collars on them.

Agent Woods (Juan Ayala) tells them that everyone was accounted for except Evan. Patterson tells them that Scarlett reported Evan left that morning with Thomas. Weller questions why Evan would take his son on the run, and Patterson explains that Thomas’ new high-tech insulin pump can store data on it. Tasha Zapata (Audrey Esparza) reports that the CIA caught Russian operatives who were planning to take control of the satellite and that Weller went to talk to Scarlett.

Linda looks at Weller and Jane’s wedding photo and comments that she missed his whole life. She knows Jane wants to know how she could abandon her kids, and Jane tells her she doesn’t have the right to ask. Linda declares she doesn’t know her life and apologizes. Weller assures Scarlett that an Amber Alert has been put out and asks if Evan acted strangely. Scarlett tells him that Evan was working on a big project and that he was talking to people at the party. Weller asks if there’s anywhere Evan could have taken Thomas, and Scarlett tells him their passports are missing.

Reade shows Patterson and Rich a memo sent to a bank with the signature of the Three Blind Mice, demanding they talk. Patterson tells him about Kathy’s release, and Reade is upset that their group is active again. Patterson and Rich explain that Kathy is working alone, but Reade orders them to deal with it. Patterson and Rich discuss what to do but stop talking when Zapata comes in and tells them Evan had communication with a private detective.

As they theorize why, they get notification that Evan’s car was spotted at a gas station. Thomas tells Evan that he needs to go to the bathroom and Evan tells him to hurry up. Outside, a man approaches Evan demanding to know where Thomas is. He shoots Evan and Thomas cries out from the store.

Patterson shows the team the footage of Evan being shot and reports that Thomas ran away. Zapata shows them that the shooter was caught on camera and identifies him as a Russian operative, Nikolai, based on CIA intel. They question why Nikolai shot Evan, and Weller points out that he chases after Thomas immediately after as though he knows the data is in the insulin pump.

Rich shows Patterson that Kathy left a message for them in the code, labeling them as best friends forever. Patterson shows him evidence that the bank was committing fraud. Rich reminds her that was the purpose of Three Blind Mice and Patterson reminds him that it’s still a crime. Patterson finds that the Three Blind Mice logo has been changed and finds a code in the picture. They solve the code, which points to a possible location.

Kathy is thrilled to see them and invites them inside. Patterson points out that she hacked a bank, but Kathy reminds her that they expose corruption. Rich asks about the suit and dress in front of them, and Kathy tells them they’re in her bridal party. She demands that they be her bridesmaids and they question how she could be engaged the day she got out of prison. They tell Kathy they have to bring her in, and Kathy threatens to identify them as her accomplices. They don’t answer, and Kathy has them try their wedding outfits on.

Linda tells Jane that she tried to save her kids from their father. She details the attempt and that Weller called his father because he didn’t understand the situation. Linda explains that Weller’s father threatened to kill all of them if she tried to take them again. Jane asks why she never came back, and she admits that she didn’t want her addiction demons around the kids. She assesses that Jane knows about having demons and Jane suggests they stick to tea when she asks for something stronger.

Patterson and Rich try on their wedding outfits and Patterson suggests that Kathy get a fresh start free of crime. However, Kathy explains she needs the money and Patterson offers to donate $10,000 dollars for the wedding. Kathy tells her she’s looking for a ten-million-dollar dream wedding. Kathy declares this is a celebration of the time she lost in prison while Patterson and Rich got to walk free. Patterson offers $200,000 to never commit another crime or expose them.

Kathy tells each of them to donate the same amount and Rich tells Patterson he doesn’t have the money. Patterson donates the money and tells Rich to pay her back later. Patterson tells Kathy they won’t be able to make the wedding, but Kathy points out she didn’t give them a date. They tell her they’ll be there in spirit and transfer the money to her.

Reade tells the team that Evan paid the detective to follow Scarlett and Patterson pulls up photos of Scarlett meeting with Nikolai. They realize that Scarlett is the one who stole the codes and that Evan took Thomas to protect him. Thomas calls Scarlett to tell her what happened and tells her where he is. Scarlett promises to get him and leaves the bodies of two agents lying in her house.

Rich and Patterson tell the team what happened, and they work to find Thomas’ location. Zapata suggests they wake Evan up, as he knows where Thomas would go. Patterson points out the procedure to wake him up is experimental and unethical, but Reade admits it’s their only option.

Patterson lies to Reade that they couldn’t find Kathy, but that the situation has been resolved. Rich points out she never lies, and that he likes this new side of her. Linda thanks Jane for staying with her, and Jane advises her to tell Weller the whole story. Linda argues that the truth wouldn’t change anything.

Weller tells Zapata that Jason is involved in a prominent gang and that bringing him in would lead to another gang member getting revenge. Zapata suggests he pay Linda’s debts, reminding him that she’s family. Evan wakes up and Weller asks where Thomas is. He gives them the location, and Weller promises they’ll find him.

Scarlett embraces Thomas and tells him she loves him. Thomas sees Nikolai and identifies him as Evan’s shooter. Scarlett begs Thomas to trust her, telling him Evan is a bad man. Nikolai reports that the FBI is there, and a shootout begins. Weller and Zapata enter the cabin and Scarlett declares they’re not taking Thomas from her as she holds on to him.

Weller assures Thomas that Evan is okay and that he’s trying to protect him. Scarlett tells Weller to stop lying to Thomas, and Weller asks her to stop using Thomas as a shield. Weller puts his gun down and declares Thomas deserves to know the truth. Scarlett tells Thomas she loves him, but Zapata urges her to prove it by letting him go and turning herself in. Thomas begs her to do what they say, and Scarlett asks Thomas to forgive him. Weller takes Thomas away as Zapata and Reade arrest Scarlett.

Weller reunites Thomas with Evan, and Evan thanks him. Jane meets Weller at the hospital, telling him she left Linda with security detail. Weller comments that Thomas’ life is never going to be the same because of his mother and Jane comments that his mother still loves him. Weller insists that there’s no excuse for Linda abandoning him and Jane tells him that she’s filled with regret.

Weller tells Linda Jane told him the story and tells her things would be different if he knew the truth. Linda reminds him that he was a child and admits that she can’t change things. Weller suggests that he joined the FBI because she couldn’t protect them, and she tells him she’s proud of the man he’s become. Weller tells her he’s going to pay off her debts and for her rehab and begs her to take the fresh start.

Reade and Zapata eat dinner together, and he tells her she can stay as long as she wants. Zapata declares she’ll get her life back once they stop Madeline’s plan. Patterson tells Rich that he doesn’t have to pay her back as the idea to pay Kathy off was her idea. They toast to Kathy’s fresh start, but Kathy declares to Dominic Masters (Chaske Spencer) that their plan was a success. Kathy suggests they elope, but Dominic tells her they need to finish their plan first.
