Kurt Weller (Sullivan Stapleton) confronts Jane Doe (Jaimie Alexander) about her lies. Jane apologizes for putting him in danger but tells him he shouldn’t have followed her. She tells him that Violet is the Sandstorm operative, lying that she’s been running her own undercover operation. Weller tells her he doesn’t know what’s worse, the facts she’s still lying to him or her thinking he’ll believe her. Jane accuses him of not trusting her, and that she feels sorry for him.

Their argument is interrupted by a knock on the door, and Laurie (Sasha Diamond) explains that she’s been locked out of the apartment she’s babysitting in and begs them to let her use their phone. Tasha Zapata (Audrey Esparza) shows Leo (Lee Garrett) the plans for the plane. She asks if he can hack it, and Leo is confident. He explains that he’ll use an algorithm pioneered by a hacker named Del Toro, and Madeline Burke (Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio) tells him he’s hired. However, she has Leo killed and tells Zapata that she plans to hire Del Toro as their hacker, asking Zapata to find him.

Matthew Weitz (Aaron Abrams) assures Edgar Reade (Rob Brown) that his suspension is temporary, but Reade reminds him that conducting an off-the-books search for Zapata will have consequences. Weitz reminds him that the CIA will kill her if they find her first and assesses that Reade doesn’t trust him. He assures that they’re in this together, and Reade tells him he might know a way to get ahead of the CIA. Rich Dotcom (Ennis Esmer) interrupts Patterson’s (Ashley Johnson) work to show her a movie he created about the Book of Secrets, handing her 3D glasses. During the 3D movie, Patterson finds a clue inspired by a show of swimming sea turtles and declares that she knows how to find Roman’s (Luke Mitchell) next data cache.

Laurie finishes her phone call, but two men burst in as Laurie opens the door and attack Jane and Weller. As they fight, Laurie comes in a points guns at them, revealing that this was a ruse. Eve (Gillian Zinser) walks in and tells them she’s excited to finally meet the people who stole money from her bank as she has them tied up. She explicitly tells Jane that she wants the money that she stole returned, showing her security camera footage of her robbing the bank. Eve orders her people to search the apartment, and Weller realizes why Jane has been acting weird. He explains that her condition has reverted her to a previous version and that she is Remi, not Jane.

Madeline asks Zapata about the search for Del Toro, and Zapata tells her that nobody knows who he is. Madeline tells her they don’t have time, and Zapata suggests finding another way to win the defense contract that doesn’t involve sabotaging the plane. However, Madeline insists she wants to get the company back on track and that they need to take risks to do so. Madeline tells her she’s waiting years for her revenge, and gets a call telling her she has an unexpected visitor. Zapata hides and Weitz comes in, asking for a couple more files to complete his investigation. Madeline comments that he seems to want the files off-the-books and agrees after Weitz argues that it will give her and the company less attention.

Patterson explains to Rich that the sea turtle reminded her of the mascot of an old programming software. She explains that the previous data cache reveals a pattern of different mascots and colors that leads to the seal of the FBI, indicating that the cache of potential medical information is located somewhere inside the FBI. Patterson goes to inform the team, but Rich tells her they should wait until they find something more concrete.

Meanwhile, Weller asks Remi if she thought she would get away with this and Remi reminds him she did for months. Eve tells them that she hasn’t found the money and tells them they’re taking a ride. As they ride in the back of a van, Roman tells Remi that they wouldn’t be in this mess if he was alive. He asks who else is going to get her out of this, questioning if she can trust Weller.

The van stops and Eve orders Remi and Weller to get out. Roman strategizes how to overtake the Eve’s associates with a gun pointed at each of them. However, more guns are pointed at them and Eve tells them she wants to get into an FBI evidence facility, so she can get something to give to the terrorists asking for their money back. Weller demands to know what they’re stealing, but Eve refuses and tells them they will be wearing bomb-laced vests she will detonate if they don’t cooperate.

Patterson attempts to calculate the location of the cache inside the FBI, and notices that Rich is constantly on his phone. Rich admits he’s checking to see if Boston has called him back, and Patterson tells him to pine for Boston on his own time. Rich replies that he’s trying to take Boston down, and that he’s been prank-calling him. Patterson orders Rich to hand over his phone and turns it off. Patterson finishes the calculations and draws an X on the floor, but there is nothing there.

Remi and Weller convince Mike (Danny Garcia) to let them into the facility, despite then not having override access. Before the can go in, Mike tells them he needs to search the back of the truck. Remi and Weller knock him out and Eve tells them to leave them behind. Patterson finds that Rich has taken an ax to the floor, and questions if Roman would have dug up the floor, hid the cache, and covered it up without anyone noticing. She declares that they have to start over, and Rich is excited about the possibility of an all-nighter.

Remi and Weller lead Eve and her associates into the facility, but Eve refuses to tell Weller what they’re stealing. Weller tells her they’re hidden cameras inside the vault and he opens it. Remi asks Eve if she wants to be caught on camera like her, and Eve tells them to retrieve a specific case from the vault. Inside, Remi suggests they split up, but Weller tells her they’re not giving her the case. He tells her to put her hands up and finds that he can’t disable the bomb vest.

They work together to neutralize the bombs as Roman questions their method of duct tape. Eve declares that time’s up and detonates the bomb when Remi and Weller refuse to open the door. However, Remi and Weller’s efforts are successful, and the bomb doesn’t go off. Once they take their vests off, Weller pulls out the case Eve asked for and look at the mysterious item inside.

As Patterson tries to find the cache, Rich asks for his phone back. Patterson suggests that Rich’s toxic relationship with Boston isn’t good for him, but Rich denies it’s toxic. Rich makes a comment about Boston that leads to Patterson figuring out the cache is connected to a person, not a place. She figures out that the desk of Derek Wimble (Eddie K. Robinson) used to be in that location.

Weller tells Remi that he’s going to use the explosives from the vests to escape the vault with the case. Remi suggests handing the case over, questioning if Eve would be willing to shoot two FBI agents. Weller tells her she’s not FBI, but a terrorist, and Remi asks what the difference is. Eve’s associate brings over a forklift to pry the vault door open, and Weller asks Remi why she hates him so much. Remi tells him he ruined her life, but he reminds her he was supposed to fall in love with Jane and Jane failed because she fell in love with him. The forklift impales the door, and Weller orders Remi to help him.

Madeline hands over the requested files to Weitz and asks him what he really wants. She brings up his resume and ambition and suggests that the FBI will kill his career, before offering to help him. Remi asks Weller why he loves Jane, and Weller mentions her strength and compassion. Remi suggests he loved her because she was a damsel in distress, and that she was what he wanted her to be. Weller accuses her of not knowing anything about him and tells her that she’s the weapon Shepherd created. Remi questions how much he knew her if he wasn’t able to tell she had reverted to Remi for so long. Weller tells her that while Remi and Jane share similarities, he recognizes none of Jane in Remi at the moment. As the forklift takes off the door, Weller detonates the bomb. Eve sees that they’ve escaped and orders her associates to find them and kill them.

Eve’s associates go through the hole in the wall and Weller and Remi leap out of their hiding places to attack them. They grab their guns, and Remi covers Weller as he grabs the case. Reade and Weitz struggle finding anything in Madeline’s documents. Reade isn’t confident that Madeline will make any mistake, but Weitz tells him that they rattled her cage. Reade questions how he knows that, and soon connects the pilot’s name that reappears on multiple documents to the JB that Claudia mentioned in his apartment.

Patterson and Rich interrogate Wimble on his connection to Roman, but Wimble denies being involved with him in any capacity. Patterson explains they have evidence linking him to Roman, and Wimble lists all of the things he does for the FBI. Rich and Patterson realize that the clue was pointing to the locations Wimble has access to in the building and find the cache inside his access card.

Remi and Weller take the case towards the building’s exit, and they see Eve’s cars pull up in front of the door. Eve tells them that it’s time to end this, and Roman encourages Remi to end things. Remi suggests they split up, steals Weller’s access badge, and takes the case with her. Pointing her gun at Weller, she tells Weller that Jane is dead, and she is now Remi before locking Weller in the facility.

Remi tells Eve to put her guns down or else she’ll shoot the inside of the case. Eve remarks that it’s an unusual move for an FBI agent, and Remi declares that she isn’t FBI. Remi attempts to convince Eve to take the case and leave, but Eve shoots at her. Remi escapes and Eve takes the case. She inspects it and tells her associates to load it into the car. A flashback reveals that Weller put some of the explosives into the case and he uses the detonator to blow it up as Eve drives away.

Madeline asks Zapata if she’s found Del Toro, and Zapata tells her that Del Toro is linked to a Mexican cartel as wells as the Mexican government. Zapata tells her she plans to go to Mexico convince him, but Madeline insists she’s coming as well. As Patterson examines the caches, Rich’s phone rings and he is thrilled to see that Boston is calling. He forces himself to not answer but gives into temptation just as the call goes to voicemail. Patterson confirms that the cache has medical information and declares them one step closer to finding a cure for Jane.

Reade asks Weitz about his theory that Madeline has been rattled, and Weitz tells him that she offered to help him become president, speculating that she wouldn’t have if they weren’t close to discovering something. Reade asks if he turned the offer down, but Weitz tells him he didn’t explicitly. Reade admits he still doesn’t trust him, but Weitz assures him that they have the same goal. Weitz gets notification that JB is flying to Mexico and concludes that this will help them get ahead of the CIA. Weitz insists he’s coming with him, insisting he’ll need all the help he can get.

Weller comes home and answers the phone. Remi comments that he made it out of the facility, and Weller accuses her of caring about him. She tells him she’s worried about him getting in her way and tells him to not come looking for Jane. Weller accuses her of caring about him, insisting that Jane is still inside somewhere and that he won’t give up on her. Remi tells him that means he can’t kill her, but she we won’t hesitate to kill him. However, Weller refuses to give up on her as he looks at their wedding photo.
