Blindspot – Warning Shot

A coworker tells Betty Dupree (Molly Bernard) to join the office party, using a bobble head of Abraham Lincoln to joke that she is too serious. She grabs the bobble head from him and pulls off the bottoms of the bobble heads once he leaves. Putting pieces hidden inside together, she uses it to break into a high security facility and briefly steps inside. Stepping out, she stuffs the tool inside her shoe and takes a pill to fake a seizure and is rolled out of NSA headquarters.

Megan (Reshma Shetty) tells Tasha Zapata (Audrey Esparza) about a potential assignment in Tuscany that she can’t take. Zapata asks why in disbelief, and Edgar Reade (Rob Brown) orders her to drop it. Megan explains that she won’t be able to return to the US if she leaves because she is an undocumented immigrant. Kurt Weller (Sullivan Stapleton) finds Jane Doe (Jaimie Alexander) drawing a picture of Avery (Kristina Reyes), and assures her that she will find a way to connect with Avery. The moment is interrupted by a knock on the door and Weller invites Nas Kamal (Archie Panjabi) inside. She asks them for their help, admitting it involves a tattoo case.

Megan details her story of immigration and that she doesn’t want to be deported. Zapata assures her that she can trust her, and then makes a joke about her dating the Assistant Director of the FBI while undocumented. As Reade enters the office, Rich Dotcom (Ennis Esmer) asks about his request to attend a dark web party. Reade refuses the request despite Rich’s begging.

The team greets Kamal, who asks what Rich is doing there. Weller explains that he works there now, promising that it’s a long story. Kamal tells them that Sandstorm was initially funded by Crawford, and tells them that she’s been getting Intel from Keaton by freelancing at the CIA. The team is shocked, and Zapata claims that she didn’t know that Kamal works there. She tells them that a computer virus was stolen from the NSA, and Patterson (Ashley Johnson) is in disbelief that the fabled virus is real. Kamal explains that the matching tattoo contains the code for the virus.

Patterson informs them that the virus has been trending on the dark web and pulls up video of a demonstration of the device’s powers, which causes several explosions. Rich finds the calling card of the notorious PopUpKid that nobody knows the identity of. Patterson shows them her findings that Dupree stole the device, but there is no record of that name anywhere. They assess that Dupree is PopUpKid, and Patterson works her magic to find her true identity, Delilah Dunny.

Outside, Zapata thanks Kamal for corroborating her lie that she didn’t know she was working for the CIA. Kamal asks her if Patterson found out about Project Dragonfly, and Zapata tells her she hasn’t. She warns Zapata that she will be unpopular with the rest of the team once they discover the truth. In Brazil, Blake Crawford (Tori Anderson) tells Roman (Luke Mitchell) that she wants to woo a potential investor for Crawford. Blake explains that she intends to infiltrate a poker game so she can seduce Cristophe “Junior” Bruyere (Luke Kirby) and asks Roman to pose as solely her bodyguard.

Reade assesses that Zapata wants to talk about Megan and she asks him if Jonathan West’s (Nicholas E. Calhoun) meeting is about helping Megan gain citizenship. Reade asks her to drop it as she warns him of the dangers of using his position to help her. Patterson and Rich inform the team that there was an auction for the device, but it ended five minutes ago. Rich shows them a company that had the exact price of the winning bid stolen from them. Patterson is able to identify the hacker as a high school student named Cameron (Tommy Nelson).

Weller and Jane question Cameron and his grandfather Earl (Bob Ari) about the device. Cameron answers the questions smarmily, and Earl asks him if he wants to end up in jail. Weller details Cameron’s crimes, and Earl tells him to cooperate. Cameron tells him to mind his own business, and Earl asks what’s wrong with him. Outside, Jane comments how broken Cameron seemed and Weller tells her that Delilah is still waiting for the other half of the money. Weller gets a text from Avery asking him to come over, and tells Jane that she should come with him. Jane reminds him that Avery asked for him, and tells him to go see what information Avery has.

Kamal and Patterson attempt to interrogate Cameron, but he continues to be a smarmy jerk. They use evidence from his computer to theorize that the business was fake and that he stole the money to pay for the device. Patterson explains they were able to trace the company back to Iran and tells him that the Iranians used him as a middleman. Cameron admits that they offered him a million dollars to steal the money and buy the device, giving him a burner phone to use.

Blake and Roman enter the poker game, and Junior flirts with Blake. She tells him she wants to play, but Junior tells her that the game is gentleman-only. After Roman quips that they still let Junior in, Blake apologizes for her bodyguard and gives Junior an expensive bottle of scotch to earn admission. Jane asks Weller what information Avery had, but Weller tells her she just wanted to apologize for the con with Roman. Jane can’t believe he had her come over for that, and Weller theorizes that she’s lonely and doesn’t know how to reach out.

Patterson shows them Cameron’s burner phone, which Rich answers when it rings. Delilah doesn’t believe it’s really Rich, but he is able to convince her. Rich rejects Delilah’s suggestions of meeting places, insisting that they should meet at the dark web party. Delilah agrees, and Reade is angry that Rich forced his hand about the party. Kamal says that Rich made the right call, and Rich declares that she’s always been his favorite. The team debates the logistics of the infiltrating the party, and Reade tells Rich that he’s not going to the party alone.

Reade meets with West, who tells him that he can’t help with Megan’s immigration issue because of higher scrutiny at the State Department. Roman observes the game from the bar as Blake wins the hand. Junior goes to the bar and talks to him about Blake. Roman tells him that Blake has a boyfriend, but Junior is more concerned about him, asking how long he’s been in love with her and commenting that it won’t end well.

Rich, Weller, Kamal, and Jane walk into the party, and Rich asks the others to blend in before beginning their search for Delilah. Weller admits to Kamal that’s surprised that she’s working for the CIA and thanks her for her sacrifice for the team. Kamal says that it was for the job and comments that he and Jane seem happy together. He asks why she didn’t respond when he reached out to her to help find Jane, but Kamal replies that she wouldn’t have been helpful. Weller offers her a spot at the FBI, but she wants to find a way back to the NSA.

Rich sees Jane glaring at him as he talks to other partygoers and excuses himself. Jane calls him out for drawing attention to himself, but Rich argues that it’s part of his blending in. She continues to glare at him, and Rich comments that her death stare is why Avery went to Weller instead of her and advise that she go to Avery instead of waiting for her. Zapata tells the team that Delilah has arrived to the party and Rich gets Kamal on his arm to greet her. After Rich makes the introductions, Delilah attempts to speak and declares that she can’t go through with the deal. She asks Kamal to show her to the bathroom.

As Rich joins Jane and Weller, Shohid Akhtar (Ajay Naidu) approaches them and recognizes them as FBI. Jane asks him how he got out of prison, and Akhtar claims he’s a hometown hero. He asks how the partygoers would react if they knew that the FBI was there and gets into an argument with Rich over who betrayed who more. Jane stops the argument and asks Akhtar why he’s there, and Weller stops Rich from snorting the cocaine Akhtar offers them. Weller theorizes that Akhtar made a deal to escape prison, and the team notices two armed men enter the party. Akhtar promises that he won’t expose them for now, and Patterson suggests that Akhtar wants the device but doesn’t know what Delilah looks like.

Blake goes all in on the poker game, and then folds before excusing herself. At the bar, Roman comments that Blake let Junior win and she explains that sometimes you have to lose to win. Junior invites her to his place, and she agrees. Rich announces that he’s approaching PopUpKid and Akhtar’s man grabs him. Rich head butts the man and Akhtar goes into the room where Kamal poses as PopUpKid. Kamal states that he’s not the buyer and asks why she should sell to him, causing him to attempt to convince her.

Weller, Jane and Rich observe Delilah as she rants in another room. Rich and Delilah complete the transfer, but Delilah tells them that the device is not on her. She tells them that the device is on somebody at the party, but has an allergic reaction and passes out before she can reveal anymore. Jane administers her epi-pen and Weller asks Patterson to unlock Delilah’s phone. Akhtar continues to talk to Kamal, but gets notification through his headset of Kamal’s real identity. He orders his guard to kill her, but Kamal knocks him out.

Patterson unlocks Delilah’s phone and Weller calls the contact. They see someone answer and approach him. Akhtar notices and yells that there’s an FBI raid and shoots the contact, causing chaos. Weller fights his way to the contact, but finds the device is not on him. Weller and Jane split up and search for Akhtar. Jane finds Akhtar on the roof and tackles him. He gets away in the struggle, and jumps off the building. As he drives away on a motorcycle, Jane shows Weller that she recovered the device in the struggle.

Reade compliments the team for their work, and Jane thanks Kamal for her help. She admits that she’s missed working with them but that it’s time to go back where she belongs. Jane follows Kamal and asks her to ask Shepherd about Avery. Kamal says she doesn’t need to, saying that Shepherd is a sociopath and narcissist that stole Avery to ensure Jane didn’t love anyone but her. Kamal advises her not to live in the past, and wishes her luck. Patterson and Rich tell Weller that the device doesn’t work, and that it’s a decoy. Weller figures that Kamal took the real device to earn her way back into the NSA, but Patterson argues that the device is out of the hands of criminals so they don’t need to worry.

Megan finds Reade waiting for her, and he tells her that his deal with West fell through. She asks why he would put them both at risk, but he explains he wanted to help her. He tells her that they’re in this together and proposes to her. She tells him that marrying him won’t change her immigration status, but Reade insists he’s doing it because wants to be with her. Megan says yes and Reade slips the ring on her finger. Avery meets Jane at a diner, and agrees to have coffee with her.

Weller gets a call from Kamal, who pretends not to know what he’s talking about when he mentions the stolen device. She tells him that she found out that Avery’s father was involved in Crawford’s shady business deals. Roman tries to talk Blake out of going home with Junior, and she assesses that he’s jealous. Two masked gunmen attack Junior and Blake, and Roman kills one of them. However, Blake and Junior are kidnapped in the struggle and Roman is unable to stop the van.
