Q) Please tease what is new this season of “Yellowstone.”

A) Season 5 picks up around nine months after you last saw the Duttons. Tate is excited to be a big brother. John (Kevin Costner) is now Governor. Beth (Kelly Reilly) and Jamie (Wes Bentley) are still out to kill each other. There are a lot of forces working against the Yellowstone, and no one is willing to back down.

Q) Tate and his family have a new home, a new dog, and a new sibling on the way. Are we going to see how Tate handles being a big brother this season?

A) I think Tate will be an amazing big brother, just don’t ask him to change any diapers.

Q) It’s never easy being a Dutton. Does Tate begin to feel the pressures of his last name, or does he still remain innocent of his legacy?

A) Tate lost his innocence a long time ago. He has already killed a man to protect his mother and defend the ranch – it doesn’t get more Dutton than that. Of course, he’s older now, so maybe Kayce will start taking him along on ranch business.

Q) Tate and his father share a special connection. Will we be getting to see them spending more one-on-one time?

A) Absolutely. Tate and Kayce will be getting a lot of quality saddle time together.

Q) We also love the bond between Tate and his grandpa. Talk about working with iconic co-star Kevin Costner.

A) Kevin is a boss. He’s not only an incredible actor, but he also has a lot of other stuff going on. It makes my head spin watching him do an intense scene, then smoothly step off-set and get on an important phone call. He never misses a beat.

Q) What have been some of your favorite scenes to film over the years?

A) Nothing will ever top the time I threw a fish at Lee (Dave Annable), but getting to push cattle and work with horses is pretty special.

Q) Every season is pretty intense. How do you shake off a long day of filming?

A) First, I hit up the crafty station for snacks, then I’ll go home and depending on the time I’ll watch TikTok or play VR games to relax. If it’s an early day, I’ll go hiking or ride around with a buddy in his side by side. Sometimes we don’t get home from filming until after 1:00 AM and then I’ll just go to sleep.

Q) What are some episodes this season you are excited for fans to get to watch?

A) The second episode, “The Sting of Wisdom.” We worked some pretty late nights to bring it to life.

Q) What are the other projects you have been busy working on?

A) I had the honor of joining NBC’s “This Is Us” for its final two episodes as Kevin and Madison’s son, Nicky. I also did a psychological thriller called Lifeline. It was dark and disturbing with a fantastic twist at the end.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who are fans and supporter of your work on “Yellowstone?”

A) Thank you so much for your support. I’m very lucky because “Yellowstone” fans are by and large very nice, helpful people. They give me advice and encouragement when I’m trying new things that I maybe don’t have a lot of experience with. The internet can be a very mean and hurtful place if you don’t have thick skin. I’m grateful to my fans that make social media a welcoming place.
