The episode starts with some breaking news that a police officer named McCaffrey (Tatum Shank) found a dead mouse in his burrito. Frank O´Sullivan (John C. McGinley) is turning the situation into his benefit, an act of political violence he calls it. Holt (Andre Braugher) is debriefing the situation at the 99 and O´Sullivan is demanding a public support letter from the precinct. Terry (Terry Crews) informs them that all uniform police officers just walked out in support. Scully (Joel McKinnon Miller) asks how is it possible that every single uniformed officer got sick at once, but Terry says they´re not actually sick. Instead, because they are not allowed to strike, they made up a medical excuse that they’re sick – a/k/a the Blue Flu.

Captain Holt refuses to give in, so he creates Operation Trident and divides it in three prongs. First, Jake (Andy Samberg) and Boyle (Joe Lo Truglio) have to prove the notes from the doctor are fraudulent. Prong two: Santiago (Melissa Fumero) and Jeffords must keep crime down. And prong three, proving who put the mouse in the burrito, which is why they need Rosa (Stephanie Beatriz) as an unofficial investigator.

Boyle goes to the doctor that signed on the officer´s sick note. He gets a full exam, but Dr. Mintleman (Keisuke Hoashi) notices something on Boyle´s testicle that does not look normal. It could be cancer, which hits Boyle pretty hard. Officer Santiago brought in their night shift detectives to handle dispatch calls and that´s when she gets interrupted by Terry´s stomach. He´s been feeling nauseous but won´t go home because he has to prove his toughness. Holt figures out that the detectives the other precincts send are not the best. In fact, they are replicas of Hitchcock (Dirk Blocker) and Scully. Rosa talks to Holt about a fee, but since this is not official he can´t pay her. She says there´s something he can give her that is just as valuable as money, a picture of Holt´s tattoo. It seems Jake has offered a large amount of money to see it. However, he won´t show her anything until she finds solid proof. Holt informs that the Blue Flu continues and sends Terry home.

Boyle is not taking the doctor appointment very well. Jake is keeping him company during while he is nervous. Jake proves to Boyle that he knows him quite well and, thankfully, Charles gets his results that it is not cancer after all.

Amy turns to Scully for help to get everyone to work and comes up with a plan that gets everyone on board. Terry comes back and tells the Captain that he was invited to a meeting with some of the officers that got diagnosed with mono, so he´s going to infiltrate it. However, because of his stomach noises what he records is not clear. Raymond confronts O´Sullivan with the information Rosa found but the meeting is very frustrating. It turns out that the lab faked the results; however, they are sick now because of Jeffords’ stomach bug. Holt focuses on what they didn´t do with less police officers such as fewer bad arrests it means less cases thrown out. Also, they didn´t make the community less safe and can actually let go of them, which takes O´Sullivan end The Blue Flu. It is also revealed that the Captain Holt’s is a dot, well a decimal point. Although, Rosa actually gave Jake a fake photo and Holt´s tattoo is actually…
