Q) Your new show “Stage Fright” premieres March 26th. Please tell us what the show is about.

A) It’s an exciting new mystery series that’s a spinoff of “Crown Lake!” The show follows the story of students who try and figure out who dropped the chandelier on the lead in the school production of The Phantom of the Opera. A bunch of different suspects are explored and viewers are always left on the edge of their seats!

Q) You play Karina on the show. How does she fit into the show?

A) Karina is the theater critic for The Crown Lake Chronicle, the school’s newspaper. She is very intense and she will do whatever it takes to get a good story. Beneath her Lois Lane-esque glasses, she may not be as innocent as she seems…

Q) What was it about the show that made you want to take the role?

A) I’m a writer and I could definitely relate to Karina’s similar passion for writing. I felt like I could really tap into the character because we share the same interest. Besides, the mystery is full of excitement and I couldn’t help but want to be a part of it!

Q) “Stage Fright” will be available to stream on YouTube as part of BRAT TV – YouTube series are new and becoming increasingly popular why do you think this is?

A) Digital media is the future. Case in point: lots of today’s top magazines are converting to online only. Additionally, with the rise of social media platforms such as Instagram and TikTok, the opportunities are endless when it comes to the digital world. Brat caters to that tween/teen audience who is in touch with modern technology and loves to binge shows online.

Q) What were some of your favorite moments on set when shooting this series?

A) I loved hanging out with my castmates (now some of my best friends) during the moments we weren’t filming. We were required to do three hours of school work per day, but as each of us were working we were simultaneously chatting and getting to know each other! I also loved craft services! [laughs] At lunchtime we all sat outside in robes (so our costumes wouldn’t get stained) at picnic tables and ate from the delicious buffet. It was our time to talk, unwind and film TikToks!

Q) What do you think it is about “Stage Fright” that will make it a fast fan favorite show?

A) I think that the audience will be super invested in the show because of its mystery genre. The end of each episode will leave viewers guessing and wanting more. There’s also an element of comedy to the show to break up moments of intensity that I think fans will resonate with.

Q) Apart from acting you’re also an author at just the age of seventeen! How did writing and publishing your first book come about?

A) When I was eight years old, I first learned about realistic fiction in school. The fact that I could take real-life themes that were important to me and place them into fictional scenarios was thrilling. One day, I came home from school and presented my mom with a book proposal for The Cupcake Clubabout four girls who are outsiders at their school that come together to form a cupcake club that combats bullying. I never expected that it would become a 12-book series! It has been a crazy journey and I’m so grateful for every opportunity this book has brought me!

Q) Was being an author always your career goal?

A) Writing has always been my passion. Although I love writing books, my endgame is to be the editor-in-chief of a magazine (preferably Vogue!). Producing fashion, beauty, and health content has always been a creative outlet for me that I love to explore.

Q) “Carrie’s Chronicles” is a popular fashion/lifestyle blog that you also write for. How did you go about creating this?

A) In middle school I was often bullied for my sense of style. People would tell me that my glitter sneakers were “too loud” or my comic strip sweatpants were “out there.” However, over time I realized that my style is my superpower and there’s nothing more beautiful than embracing the exclamation point of who you are! Carrie’s Chronicles encourages its readers to embrace unapologetic individuality through fashion, beauty, food, fitness and beyond.

Q) What are some current fashion trends that you are really into?

A) Considering the whole coronavirus outbreak, loungewear is in right now. I’ve been sporting comfortable matching sweat sets in prints and bright colors 24/7!

Q) Your work ethic is incredible being so young how do you manage to balance all your work equally and still manage to be a normal 17-year-old?

A) It’s really difficult, but I’ve become an expert at time management. Sometimes, I’m writing articles in the back of taxis or as I’m walking down the street! Although I’m always busy, I wouldn’t change anything for the world because I love what I do.

Q) You’re also an ambassador for No Bully. Why is this something that is very close to your heart?

A) As I explained above, I was bullied a lot when I was in middle school. I find it amazing how No Bully is visiting schools worldwide teaching children to practice empathy and respect towards each other from a young age. That, I believe, is the key to eventually eradicating bullying worldwide. I know that if No Bully existed when I was in kindergarten and throughout elementary school, I would have known how to handle the bullies better.

Q) You’ve reached out to a lot of avenues at only seventeen-years-old – author, acting and blog writing. What do you have planned next?

A) I’m going to keep writing and face any opportunity thrown at me with hard work and unwavering dedication. Writing is my ultimate passion, but that doesn’t mean I can’t dabble in acting once in a while!

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who are fans and supporters of the work you do?

A) Thank you so much for your continued love and support–it truly means the world to me. Seeing how my work empowers and inspires you keeps me going; that’s why I do what I do.
