Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) Dark, Techy, Grinding, Sexy Club/House music (sometimes Techno)

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) Some of my musical influences John Summit, Will Sparks, FISHER, Meduza, Laidback Luke, Green Velvet and Nicole Moudaber. I would say that I, myself, am more on the Laidback Luke side of mixing, in terms of style and transitions.

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “Fire in Me.”

A) I started with the vocals and as it progressed each day I layered more and more on the song, but if taken at face value it’s pretty simple and that’s the key to having a great song is simplicity! I aimed for a certain club vibe that is in the heart of Downtown Toronto. “Love Child,” previously known as “The Hoxton,” was the main inspiration behind “Fire in Me.” Being there on Thursdays was a great vibe.

Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) I think it’s the moving bassline and also the Drake sample from “Massive.” Fun fact, I put that in the song as a first foundation before his album came out and it was one of my texture layers besides the vinyl, subtle in the background. The fire in everyone needs to explore is a key thing of understanding the just of the song.

Q) Have you given any thought to creating a music video to accompany the song?

A) It’s in the works as we speak – very excited for this! Trailer is coming soon.

Q) What is your song writing process – do you play around with sounds before you settle on a beat?

A) I lay down the fundamentals, like Kicks, claps and hats; a nice, good gritty bassline with a few synths and FX and sometimes I layer the claps and hats for good stereo imaging. Then, I try to find a good track to reference a good layout. That’s key to finishing music, good layouts and how you interpret the song structure! remember though “no rules in music.”

Q) How much of a hand do you have in the production of your music?

A) I have my hands in all departments as much as I can from full song arrangement to graphic design for cover arts. Mixing and mastering process, as well as doing the vocals on some of my productions. But with songs on labels, they handle the artwork, publishing and promo.

Q) Will there be a full album or EP coming in the near future?

A) Yes there will be in the near future, I have just released a new song called “Invitation (Still Goes)” – more on the Techno side.  As well, I have a new single for Valentine’s weekend.

Q) Where are some of your favorite places to perform and what makes those locations so significant to you?

A) The venues I have played at are more on the warehouse/small venue bar side. I am looking to be playing Clubs/Festivals by this summer!

Q) What can fans expect from a live CHRISLVCK performance?

A) Adrenaline, excitement and smooth transitions all over a good vibe. I just want people to enter the same atmosphere and feeling I get when I hear music I love and live for!

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) John Summit, Mau P or Will Sparks. Even some locals like BIPOLÜR -shoutout making huge waves in Toronto.

Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) BLR – “Lipstick” Ft. Robbie Rise

A) I do my best to be part of social media platforms like IG, Twitter and TikTok so my fans are always up to date with my shows and upcoming performances.  As well as for showcasing my newest upcoming music and staying in touch with my fans!
