Q) What are the recent projects that you are working on?

A) My most recent project (other than “Vagrant Queen”) was Netflix’s Holiday in the Wild, working with the lovely Kristen Davis.

Q) Please tell us the premise for “Vagrant Queen.”

A) “Vagrant Queen” follows the story of an inter-galactic child-queen turned orphaned outcast by the revolutionary republican force. She lives in exile, leading the life of a scavenger in the treacherous corners of the galaxy, always one step ahead of the Republic government out to extinguish her bloodline. When her old friend Isaac (Tim Rozon) shows up claiming her mother Xevelyn (Bonnie Henna) is still alive, they head off with their new ally, Amae (Alex McGregor), to stage a rescue that will take her back into the perilous heart of her former kingdom and up against a deadly childhood foe, Commander Lazaro (Paul du Toit).

Q) What made you want to be a part of the series?

A) Any actor would be over the moon (Ganymede in this case) to be a regular on a project as interesting and fun as this. Also…what kid who grew up on a steady diet of Asimov, Hebert and Iain M. Banks wouldn’t jump at the opportunity to act in a Sci-Fi…on SYFY!

Q) How was your character Hath originally described to you?

A) He was originally described to me as a loyal member of the Royal entourage and protector (and confidant) of the child Queen.

Q) Was there anything you added to him that wasn’t in his initial breakdown?

A) There wasn’t much to go on in the source material, so it was necessary to fill in the gaps when building this character. Hatch’s feelings towards the Queen, his opinions on tradition and providence and his deep sense of duty were just some of the traits I had to grapple with to round the character out.

Q) Were you familiar at all with your costars before working with them on the show? (You have such a great rapport with them online.)

A) The series was shot in my home town of Cape Town, so I had previously worked with pretty much everyone except Adriyan [Rae] and Tim. But when you work together for months at a time (sometimes in trying conditions), you can’t help but build a rapport.

Q) What were some of your favorite scenes to film or episodes viewers should look out for?

A) I loved being out on the dunes for the “dessert planet” scenes – definitely the most fun I had on the shoot (and also some of the most challenging scenes I had).

Q) How did you shake off a long day of filming?

A) I would love to say long runs on the beach or hitting the gym, but the truth is more boring. We shot long days with heaps of stunts, fight sequences and action so we were all pretty beat at the end of the day. Most nights I just managed to shove some sustenance in my face hole before passing out.

Q) Since you are a part of social media, are you looking forward to the instant fan feedback you’ll be receiving to the series?

A) Absolutely! I love interacting with fans to which end I have a collection of behind-the-scenes pics (taking up far too much space) on my phone that I’m very excited to share with everyone.

Q) How do you plan to celebrate the series premiere on March 27th?

A) The plan was for a bunch of the cast to get together for a screening at one of our houses (I’d even come up with a “Squirp Berry” cocktail recipe), but that is looking less likely now that we’re all Coronavirus “social distancing.”

Q) What else about your time on “Vagrant Queen” should we be sure we share with our readers?

A) Only that if they have half as much fun watching this series as we had making it, then they’re gonna love it!

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who are fans and supporters of you and your work?

A) I am so grateful for every day that I get to spend on set, working with talented people, doing what I love. None of that would be possible without our audience. I hope that we can provide some fun escapism and a couple of laughs during this uncertain time of worldwide lock-down.
