Cory Singer – Blind In Love

Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) Different!  I have a vocal styling that is dramatic, so I have been compared to Freddy Mercury (whoa, that is amazing).  I do not box myself in. I left my creative juices flow, so I am very unique.  I would say overall that is why I am an indie artist.  Very dramatic rock, blues with influences all over the place.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) Pearl Jam, Neil Young

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “Blind In Love.”

A) Girls settle.  They would rather go after a guy who treats them like garbage for status then be with a real man who wants to be their Prince Charming.  It’s my frustration anthem. [laughs]

Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) Who doesn’t connect to watching your friends walk into a dating disaster. You try but you can’t stop that train wreck.

Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) I have so many melodies stored. I typically write from melody I create on my guitar and sometimes I become inspired by something and it just flows.

Q) Talk about working with Wes Edmonds on the production of the track.

A) It was a lot of fun in the studio.  He challenged me and really worked on technique.  It’s cool to work with someone who embraces your vision instead of their own.

Q) What can fans expect from a live Cory Singer performance?

A) They are going to be entertained.  I love connecting with my audience.  I like to give them their money and time worth.

Q) Will there be a full EP or album coming in the near future?

A) Yes, this year.

Q) You were nominated for a Broadway World Award. What made you brave enough to step away from theatre to pursue your own music?

A) It wasn’t bravery, it was a natural pull.  I really loved being on the stage. Maybe someday I will go back, but there is something empowering about creating your own music.

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) Dave Grohl, Eddie Vedder, David Foster…Hell, I would collaborate with anyone who wants to work with me. That’s how you learn and grow.

Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) I am currently listening to a mix of music from the 70’s.  No bells and whistles, just great lyrics, vocal performances music.

Q) We saw you featured as an artist on the series “Kandi Factory.”  What did you take away from your time working with Kandi Burruss?

A) It was the door opener for me into the industry.  I guess what I took from the experience overall is to write, write, write.

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) Social media frustrates me at times. I don’t do it for me. I really do it, so my fans know I am breathing.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) Thanks for giving me a reason to create.
