Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) We’d say our sound is a cinematic, dark pop/alt.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) Paramore, Imagine Dragons, Halsey, Twenty One Pilots and Taylor Swift just to name a few!

Q) Talk about the story behind your song “Can’t Get Out Of Bed.”

A) This song was inspired by our lead singer’s personal experience with depression. Writing this with the band was the only way she could talk about this issue when it was too hard for her to talk about on her own. The main message of the song is about struggling with depression and trying to explain it to the people in your life who don’t understand it.

Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) This song is about something that a lot of people experience, but sometimes have a hard time talking about. We feel like this song has become an outlet for people to process or express their emotions with like-minded individuals and realize they’re not alone.

Q) How does the video for the track play into the message behind it?

A) We designed the music video for “Can’t Get Out Of Bed” to be a metaphor for depression. While watching the video, you’ll see that we’re in a beautiful white house, but as the story unfolds you see us trying to escape. The house represents the mind and depression as a “cage” we’re trying to escape from. And at the same time, we wanted to express that as beautiful as it may seem on the outside, you never know what someone’s going through on the inside.

Q) What is your song writing process?

A) Our songwriting process is very collaborative between the four of us. Our songs usually start with the four of us jamming in our rehearsal room. As far as what comes first, lyrics or music, it varies every time. Sometimes an idea will come to us in the form of a lyrical hook or sometimes it starts with just a musical arrangement and no lyrics.

Q) Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) That’s a good question. We don’t often write lyrics before we create the music to it. Usually, the lyrics and the melody will come at the same time or we’ll have an arrangement that inspires the message behind the song’s lyrics.

Q) How much of hand do you have in the production of your music?

A) The band likes to take a lot control as far as the direction of the production. We’d say the four of us have a strong vision as to what we want to sound like and how we’d like to present our message to the world. We’ve been collaborating with a lot of different producers recently on our upcoming EP who each have different styles. Luckily, we’ve had strong chemistry with all of them, who’ve been solely focused on taking our vision to the next level.

Q) What can fans expect from a live Crimson Apple performance?

A) When coming to our shows, fans should expect lots of high-energy and cinematic arrangements. We always strive to make every show bigger than the last!

Q) Will there be a full EP or album coming in the near future?

A) Yes! We’re planning to release an EP around March and a full-length album will be coming soon after!

Q) Where are some of your favorite places to perform and what makes those locations so significant to you?

A) We love performing live, so there are so many great venues to choose from but here are a few we really feel connected to:

Although we haven’t played there since we moved to California, Hawaiian Brian’s is still one of our favorite venues. Playing there was a significant part of our growth as a band and brings back so many good memories. We hope to return someday!

We also really love performing at Disneyland. When we first found out we were going to start performing there, the band was going through a bit of a rough patch and performing at Disneyland really marked a new era for us. It’s such a unique and wonderful environment and we’ve met so many amazing people while performing there!

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) Wow, there are so many artists we’d love to collaborate with, but it’d be a dream to collaborate with Twenty One Pilots or Halsey.

Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) We’re really jamming out to The Neighborhood and Twenty One Pilots. They both recently released albums and we really love the vibe of them.

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) Social media has given us the ability to connect with so many different people across the world that we may never have reached without it. We’re also able to create lasting relationships with our fans and really get to know them.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) We’d like to thank everyone for supporting us, and if you’re new, welcome to Crimson Apple! We can’t wait to get to know you guys!
