Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) I’d call it AFROPUNK.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) Life inspires me every day. Making music is all about the right choices. Just like deciding to get up every day and make some money or spend all day watching Netflix. Sometimes, I like to reminisce about Lil Ol Me, when I use to play ball every day and ride around on my BMX with my friends. At the same time, I’m thankful to know that the younger me would be proud of what I’m doing currently. Shoutout to my pops, my brothers Gabriel and Nathaniel, Evaride, Kelly King and Kanye West!

Q) How did growing up in Queens and your Guyanese roots play a role in the music that you make?

A) Queens is rich in West Indian culture. We love a good cook out, loud bass and beautiful women that loves to wine their waistline. When I make music, I want to carry that energy across the world.

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “21 Love.”

A) Back when I was nineteen years old in Ozone Park…[laughs] I met this girl who shifted my life in a way. Usually, I don’t really care what people have to say or what they’re doing, but this woman was so intriguing to me. My philosophy is when it comes to dating is that the feelings from both parties should be mutual. But in this scenario, my heart was in too deep, and I didn’t wanna leave. And now that I’m twenty-two, I can say we both learned a great deal being with each other. And I hope this feeling lasts forever

Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) The bassline. [laughs] Or the vibe it emotes!

Q) How does the video for the track play into the message behind it?

A) In the video my brother and I go searching for answers and clues to take us home in this apocalyptic jumble – to Ozone Park to be exact. Who can you really trust when everybody is looking out for themselves in the grand scheme of things? Along this journey we meet a lot of people, and we get warned by the compass about the temptations that could hurt us along the way. But this woman (Gypsy) in particular, made us feel at home – gave us hope to continue and, ultimately, the journey back home.

Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) I’m always writing. Sometimes I get little ideas in the car for a hook, and I voice memo it every time. Or maybe it’s Mr. Willie chopping up a sample at hvlfsound (studio in NYC) where we’re all freestyling to it. May the best idea win!

Q) How much of a hand do you have in the production of your music?

A) With Ozone Park I created all the demos on Acidpro. For this EP in particular, I knew I needed live instruments, especially live drums. But now, I love to cook up with upcoming producers who are willing to experiment and make something new. No song structure. No industry BS. Just good ol vibez

Q) What are some themes you explore on your debut EP Ozone Park

A) The world is going to be different in ten years due to the uptrend with global warming and technology. I love futurism. I love GOD. I love Death Note and Naruto. How could I forget Mad Max?! I know there will be a time where we can’t even walk the streets without masks that’ll filter the air. I could go on forever about this…

Q) What tracks hold a special place in your heart and why?

A) “OSBS.” It sounds bipolar. Sometimes I can be a bit bipolar, I can’t even lie.

Q) Which songs challenged you the most to create for this EP?

A) Probably “Off the Meter.” We tried to make a punk house record, which took us forever to figure out. The Caesers and Dario bodied it though.

Q) What do you hope listeners take away from listening to your new EP as a whole?

A) I want them to feel free. Stop trying to act so cool because you’re not. And that’s okay. Just be yourself bruv 💯❤️

Q) Where are some of your favorite places to perform and what makes those locations so significant to you?

A) I love all the small underground venues. The bars, strip clubs, churches, backyard events, mansion parties. I love it all. I just love to connect with people of all walks of life!

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus, so Faygo or Kanye West and can’t forget JPEGMAFIA!

Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) DEATH GRIPS, FAYGO, JEAN DAWSON – They speak to this generation!

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) I can literally see my homie in Africa, without physically being there. Like that’s deadass crazy!

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) bE YouRsElF 💯
